I believe that the gas mask person is the main character, just a different personality/persona of her that she doesn’t like. In the Crash meme you see the main character staring at a mirror flipping herself off after being killed multiple times by the same gas mask person. That probably wasn’t real considering the fact that she ‘respawned’ each death, and we clearly see her alive at the end. Perhaps she was fighting an inner war with her self, and she couldn’t do it alone. In this meme we see that her and her new companion manage to kill/defeat the gas mask person, and as they are falling, the main character taunts them. This could mean that she won and got rid of her persona/emotion or whatever. Just a theory though. As to what/who the gas mask person is, I have a two speculations on what it could be. It could be either the ghost of the thing she killed with the brick (this scene has been shown in multiple animations), or purely just an embodiment of her guilt from killing. However there is no solid evidence that support these two speculations, but the second one would make sense. We still don’t know what/who she killed and why, so discovering one of these questions could further help develop the theory of the gas mask person.

So, during the Q&A, Koruma mentioned that this story revolves around dreams (and Coma wakes up and the end I think proving that this was a dream) but I think the apocalypse we see in this video is her psyche. Broken up from her accidentally killing her friend and going to jail for it. The child I believe represents either her happiness, or just her childish joy. The person in the mask I think is her depression/suicidal thoughts, because in one of the previous videos that very same person is killing her over and over again

I know it's been 3 months, but the whole story is a dream. The main character is a hopeless adult that prolly doesn't see meaning in living anymore and is trying to find a meaning for it. He dreams about the child and a world where his (or her idk) life has a meaning (hence the title of the animation). I know how the mc feels, and my theory is that maybe he did achieve what he wanted: a meaning for his life, even if it was trough a dream Well, at least that's how I understood it!
