Your flexibility is great. As a 60 years old male starting out with Calisthenics a year ago, pistol squatting is much harder, In general I came to the conclusion that flexibility in Calisthenics is kex, even more important than strength. Keep on!

Thank you so much! And good luck to you too on your journey, you’ve got this!!🥳💪🏽 yess pistol squats are very hard😅 I still haven’t quite got it yet. Are you able to pistol squat or are you learning that skill too?

In my case, the knee click disappeared when I gained enough strength to go down slowly in the last part of the pistol squad. Another thing, having a little bit of weight in the arms can help to stabilize yourself and not fall back. For me, the pistol squad is easier with 3-4kg in the arms, but maybe you don't need it because your mobility is really good. Keep going you are close to achieving it!

Hii, thank you so much and that’s such a relief to hear that I’m not the only one with click-y knees to start off with😅 hopefully the more I practice, the more less clicks they’ll make. And yess hopefully the 100 day chin up challenge will help me build more arm strength to help with stabilisation🙌🏽

Great to see your progress. The strength will come with more squats. I think you already have the required flexibility which is a barrier for some.

Thank you so much! Yess I think I have the ankle mobility and flexibility it’s just the strength I need to work on but hopefully I’ll get it soon💪🏽

You're doing great! I'm sure you'll get it soon! Also some tips that helps me for the L-sit; First of the position of the pushup handles/parallettes, I try to put them at shoulder width so that my arms are straight down, it looks like you had them a bit wider than shoulder width (might just be cause of the camera angle), for me at least that makes it a bit harder. Secondly trying to fully straighten my arms and not bend them and lastly trying to push my shoulders down and not shrugging them. Besides this just doing core exercises like leg raises helped a lot. Hope these help a bit! :)

Thank you so much for this, it was really helpful! I actually tried what you said today and it definitely helped (both the straight arms and having the parallettes shoulder width apart). I manage to hold it a bit longer than usual!!

    I like your consistency.
I couldn't help but noticing you always lift your heel off the ground on the way up.
If you have calf flexibility issue, try to address it first by doing this :
    - stand facing a wall, about 1 foot away from it
    - without lifting the heels, put your hip on the wall, and hold as long as you can while keeping the knees straight
As it gets comfortable for you, keep increasing the distance from the wall.
You could also include horse stance into your training, hold it as long as you can to train your glutes and quads in a progressive duration.

Instead of the TRX you could have used your sofa as an assistance. Slowly reducing the assistance and build it up for reps until you only use your finger tips.

Thank you so much for this!! And yes I ended up using the parallettes for assistance which also helped. I actually just managed to get my first proper pistol squats recently😊💪🏽✨

brilliant work... maybe invest in some kettlebells, resistance bands and maybe a weighted vest...i use all 3 to good effect :)
