I hear what you're saying Simon but allow me to twist it a bit. Freddie never controlled the crowd because control implies that there is no consent from the controlled side. I would rather say that the crowd opens up their hearts and souls to him and channels his presence, energy and talent that's why he's one of the greatest performers of all time and that's why he'll never die. I believe that the whole band was unique because they were so full of talent, so creative and still, so relatable and approachable. The crowd felt and still feels that Queen played and performed for them, genuinely, because they cared and because they wanted to share their music, not to make money or be famous and that's why they will never die. I feel I am rambling and incoherent but I am sure that, as a fellow Queen fan, you get my point! Peace out bro.

You know someone has hit legendary status when their backing music is played at the concert of a group that wasn't even formed when the lead singer died and is in a completely different genre. Then the crowd of 65,000, most who were born after the lead singer died, sing it in tune and know all the words. That is a stratosperic superstar status.

It's interesting to me because it seems a lot of people don't know just how much this song is adored by most Brits. I think probably 70% of all British people over 25 could sing it word for word, and when you get into the rock/metal/punk crowd that goes up to 95%. This is more like our national anthem than the actual national anthem is lol
I also think it's widely known that all the guys of Green Day are massive Queen fans.

We are now in 2020... this beautiful song was written in 1975, and, It’s very emotive to hear almost 65.000 people singing this song at the Green Day.., at Hyde Park in 2017. “Thousands Of Green Day Fans Sing 'Bohemian Rhapsody” "The world is falling apart, everyone hates everyone else.... but sometimes.... it just takes one song to unite the masses."
Makes me goosebumps to hear loud and clear all those people singing..., to see the empty stage ... the drum cymbals moving smoothly with the wind, the clouds and the clarity in the sky ...!!!

I think the music came from the speakers on the stage. The crowd did the singing. And most, if not all of them were born long after this song was released. (!)

You can tell that a song is immortal when the fans sing the guitar solo! 65K+ was the estimated size of the crowd, I read. And every one of them pitch-perfect and in perfect time [apart from a slight hiccup on the Scaramouche bit!]

A couple of mates were there and they are mid 20s like myself and said a lot of the crowd must have been between 20 and 40, so they weren't even born when this was released. Shows how great Freddie's music is!

As u can see I just watching your channel a little time ago, and I didn´t know u analize this video. I have already seen it before and coming from argentina where the crowd is bloody loud as have to say that this is just amazing. Just the idea of festival having bands as green day or whatever post punk group and the crowd reacts like that spontaneously a few themes and group can do that. God save Queen.

You, sir, brought tears to my eyes.
I could feel your pure love for music, I could see how a person should really grow and become. I didn't really had a model to follow but I know now that when I'm gonna be older I wish I will become like you.
    Thank you.

  • @lauramacgillefhinnein5106

Saw this clip earlier & wondered where this was & when....then stumbled upon your clip, & now I know! Well done London, you did us proud!...Did Freddie & Queen proud! Absolutely amazing, wasn't expecting that when I pressed play & it blew me away! It made my eyeballs leak a little I'm embarrassed to say. Showed it to my Mum, who is a huge Freddie & Queen fan, (lucky woman is hopefully soon going to see them in Madison Sq Garden with her friend whose hubby works for Queen on tour....Jealous, me?), & strangely my Mums eyes leaked too!!! Must've been something in the air, or the neighbours chopping mountains of onions per chance? Loved your reaction to it robk, you looked as stunned as me but at least you didn't cry! First time I've come across you, will visit again. Thank you for posting, I enjoyed watching your reaction mere hours after my own reaction! (Can't you just feel the love? I hope that Queen have seen this clip, I hope they know we still love them).

OMG.. To think most of this crowed was not of Freddie's generation and yet Freddie still commanded this crowed.. Unbelievable!! Freddie would have loved this and quite frankly been shocked at how much he is missed still today...You beautiful beautiful man...

What is also incredible is the crowd sings along with the guitar and drum bridges. Freddie died in '91 so the bulk of this crowd was born afterwards, yet they know every word and love it. Queen's and Freddie's power over a crown of fans will never end. Every time the song is played on the radio, I also sing along. Every time. Miss you Freddie!

  • @Snipergod1024

Honestly... While everyone else speaks the obvious, of how wonderful it is and how Freddie would love it... I honestly love the fact that you are caught up in the magic of it. You were entranced, and were singing along just as much as any other member of that crowd. That, to me, shows your true love of music. That you're not afraid to just let yourself be caught up in the moment.

i was in that crowd! thank you for doing this video, i can tell you there was no prompting nessesary, no lyrics were put on a screen or anything, there were people in the crowd who were trying to get everyone to sing, it was kind of working, then they just played in the song, it was all the incentive we needed.
    amazing memories!
the green day gig was pretty good too.

In every concert, they put music (actual track songs on the speakers) for help people pass the time until the gig starts (because we are there for hours), is not someone playing, is the track itself and people are singing with it
