LYRICS
I don't know what to say about these days
I'm seeing people changing in the strangest ways
Even in the richer neighborhoods
People don't know when they've got it good
They've got the envy and they've got it bad
When I was a kid everything I did was trying to be free
Running up and down Tinsel Town with the fire inside of me
My planets all in retrograde, the best of all my plans got laid
I made my breaks and some mistakes
Just not the ones people think I made
I'm a long way gone
Down this wild road I'm on
It's going to take me where I'm bound
But it's the long way around
It's a little hard keeping track of what's gone wrong
The covenant unravels and the news just rolls along
I could feel my memory letting go some two or three disasters ago
It's hard to say which did more ill
Citizens United or the Gulf oil spill
I'm a long way gone
Down this wild road I'm on
It's going to take me where I'm bound
But it's the long way around
It's never been that hard to buy a gun
Now they'll sell a Glock 19 to just about anyone
The seeds of tragedy are there
In what we feel we have the right to bear
To watch our children come to harm
There in the safety of our arms
With all we disagree about
The passions burn, the heart goes out
And we're a long way gone
Down this wild road we're on
It's going to take us where we're bound
It's just the long way around

Every time I listen to Jackson, I feel like I'm getting a master class in songwriting. To be able to express social commentary in such a personal, poetic, and musically beautiful way is amazing to me. I've seen him live more than a dozen times, and own all the albums. Thanks for the inspiration, the insight, and the joy!
You said it beautifully🎉
The same feeling
Writing before he was 17, he knows something about the art. I love the complexities of his imagery - he draws from multiple sources for each song…
My Number 1. Jackson Browne.
No one is any better..
The purity of this sound is amazing, as is the rest of this show!!! Love the arrangement of the outro solo by Val McCallum!!
Good morning to some Jackson Browne and glad I'm alive today, Amen 🙏
Her voice! Cold chills on a 95 degree day. This vibe hits just right.
Agree..Her voice is brilliant!!
it truly is so beautiful, just stops me in my tracks every time I hear it.

Chavonne Stewart - beautifully backing up Jackson Brown for many years, along with Alethea Mills.

For the past 40 years, after each new album I keep thinking: "well he will never top that"...until the next one of course. And this particular band may be the best ever, although I do miss David Lindley at times.
David!
Same
🎉 Just can't get enough of his music that voice is amazing and it just 💘 stays with you and that's okay with me 💗❤❤❤❤
He still has it!!! Just about all of his songs press the inner peace button while I'm listening! 🙂
His voice!!! Still rocks my soul and then this rendition...oh my!!!🌟🌟🌟
👍 for many reasons! As a 70ish yr old Baby Boomer I listened to J. Brown’s music earlier in his career. He’s aged like a fine wine 🍷, and STILL hasn’t lost his voice or ability to sing, play, AND write meaningful lyrics! The words to this particular song are so appropriate for our world 🌍 today, and the terrible situations going on all over. ✝️☮️💟
Never tire of JB's music first time I hear his songs I fell in love with every aspect of his performance. Am turning 70 tomorrow and still never get tired of it. GOD bless you Jackson.
Even in older age, as am I, he still is magical! You had a big impact on my life - THANKS!
Beautiful song, Jackson.
Beauty & truth beyond words I can express. Thanks for doing it for us Jackson.
I grew up with his music because my uncles had all of his albums. So whenever i hear his music i think of the time i was little and a lot of relatives were not gone yet.....mixed emotions cause of the beauty of his songs and the sadness cause of the people i miss...
Your music always puts me in a good mood. Beautiful ♥️
I've loved Jackson's music since I was 13 - still here loving him at 63 ❤
The lady’s voice with Jackson’s is superb. She’s amazing. Great song writing and singing Jackson!
I grew up listening to you.
How do you keep getting better and better with age (I'm 72)? Quality, precision, soulful, sayin' exactly how the world is. Right on. Power To The People.
My individual I watch is going to bed. It's listening to Jackson Browne
free time again until my relief comes at midnight. 😁🌺
I have loved this man and his music since my older brother got me "the Pretender" when I was 15 years old. Was lucky to see him in Calgary before the pandemonium struck. Amazing -- one of the BEST shows I have ever had the joy of attending. Poetry hanging on the notes of magic . . . BLISS

What a band! What a song!
I don't know why I keep being amazed by these videos. They're always impeccable. That's a comfort, actually, knowing every time one is watching or hearing a JB performance it will be moving and flawless. The lyrics, the melody, the arrangement, the gifted back-up by Val and Greg and Shavonne and Mauricio, et al. The small but brilliant touches, like the back and forth between the piano and the guitar on the fills. The myriad pieces make for a perfect whole. As always. Wish I'd been there.
Love this song and it’s bridge from These Days to what’s happening today. Cool to watch the performers trade off in live performance. Just saw it in Philly.
Okay
How are you doing

Lived in Japan during the 90's, not knowing when I'll be going back home, and Jackson's music kept me alive.
Thank you so much sir for your music.
The heart-tugging melody and soulful, mournful sense of loss, wonder, and worry blow me away, and this amazing rendition is the best, which says a lot. God Bless Jackson Browne!

Love this song. Also interesting to see how the riff from ‘these days’ influenced this song
Beautiful! The heart needs to heal from the tragedies of the past. We need to learn from it and make peace. Reviving the heart makes life more meaningful. Anyway, that’s my feelings.

#JACKSONBROWNE! "Just Not The Ones People Think I Made!" (Yes! Touche! Brilliant! Lol. LOVE THAT LINE!)
What a great band!
And there in lies the beauty of being blessed with a healthy long life. Each day is a new beginning and chance to experience something new in our journey 🦋🌱
This is ❤️
A dear old friend. He ages well.
Love you Jackson
Wonderful song Jackson. Honored to have played on the same stage with you before and after you became a master singer songwriter.
Like a fine whiskey or wine, very smooth.
See you in September at the SBC Bowl!
