I've just filmed an actual practice session of mine, to give you some insights of how do I practice guitar parts. Everything is real, no preparations, you'll see how do I get a lick from figuring out how to play it all the way to stage- or studio-ready condition. Hope you'll find it helpful!
00 Intro
42 Split it into bits and pieces...
56 What exactly is 'perfection' and do you need it?
15 Think of the whole song, not just about bits and pieces!
58 Still, let's take a single lick as an example...
20 Make your fretting and fingering decisions... Feel free to find whatever works for YOU!
00 Speed it up as fast and as quick as you can!
13 Find your initial tempo. Get out of your comfort zone right away!
20 Okay, let's start at 70bpm and use a metronome
10 Set metronome on 2 and 4!
30 Make a loop out of the lick
54 Play the lick repeatedly three times in a row with no mistakes at all!
30 ...or maybe play it 10 times, some mistakes are allowed
20 ...then speed it up by 10bpm!
49 ...speed it up, play 3 times in a row with no mistakes, repeat, reach the tempo you need
49 Now play it somewhat faster than you need, to gain even more confidence!
19 Finally, play it with the recording or backing track and you're done! - Hudba
ive been playing on and off for a long time and now im picking up again and these tips are great!
Loved "as fast as possible, but as slow as necessary"-- yes! Ditto your suggestion to experiment and see what might pop out-- got some good ideas doing that. Most fun I've had watching a guitar tute-- you had me LOL a couple of times. Thanks a heap!! 🙏😊
