- I have decided to fit the 288 cam in the Caddy to compare it to the 276. Uncle T & Fred had a rematch to see if the Bottle intake made any difference in power for the Honda 150i of Teegan.

Starting the video like that is a good thing as changing it up and the caddy sounds aggressive but true daying the caddy will be to much on the pocket but thanks for the comparison, I just enjoy watching your content and makes me excited to continue my mk1 build and getting her on the road
Higher duration cams increase crank case pressure with will push up into the head. Usually there is a baffle tray that fits over the cam then your tappet cover goes on this prevent actual oil from spraying over instead you will get oil vapour which will condense when the motor cools down. Also if you running an MP9 box they dont relate well to higher than 276 cams and its impossible to get the fueling perfect. your AFR is going to be out of sync. even polo cup software has its limits on the MP9 box. if you want the bakkie to run properly get a diktator or spitronix depending on your tuner and you will notice a huge difference. the bakkie is idling like that coz your idling motor is having a hard time coping with the AFR. Ideally you will need to install a catch can for best results. #justmyopinion.
You know your stuff. I have a 276 in my 1.8i citirox. I want to upgrade to 288. But trying to weigh up the pros and cons. I don't mind the wild lumpy idle. Its one of the things I do like. And I do have a dicktator installed. I just need to get that oil catch can
Check compresion can be sump compresion because thats to much oil from the breather not normal check the bottom end big ends and mains also and while there replace the rings also and check if there is nou damage on the sleeves thats all problems that can give sump compresion and causes oil to come out the breather

Had the same problem on one of my buses. Yes it's turbo diesel but same concept. The baffel in the the breather plate was restrictive. Once I opened the plate up the oil could drain instead of pissing out of the breather pipe. Obviously if the bottom end is fucked you will have sump compression and that's a completely different story. Fitting a catch can with that much oil coming out is not going to help at all.
The caddy sounds good, you should test it against one f the vtecs or 180i for us to see the comparison
I have 285 pipercams on my fiesta ST150 and its super heavy on fuel. R500 in 2days, idle is rough, bt now its is misfiring have to replace sparks too much😭

What ecu are you using with this 288? I had to literally fit dictator for my car to atleast idle decent on startup. Still have some ping but need to retune as i also just did cam swap as u. similar setup and sounds just as nice ;)

Sounds good but pointless running a 288 cam on a single throttle or MP9 setup and standard (non ported) head. Engine chokes ontop of the Rpm and drinks fuel.
