- Here are some of my favorite places at my beautiful school!! I was mostly focusing on the animation facilities but there is some other stuff as well. Dorms, libraries, caf and all that stuff! Waw! Calarts looks so normal here in comparison to what I have been seing some other students are posting. Whoeever had thought it was a mental Health facility and not a school. Such an unusual video to vary! I would love to know why some students want to ruin the image of the college and why Calarts seemingly doing nothing about it. I have written to the school already without answer ...
Two inconclusive stories?
I love Calarts because it looks a lot like my own college in the Dominican Republic though it was an engineering school. However I love art better but I was never so good at it. To me your level of detextry is similar to architectural and industrial design students and more. You are truly gifted by God. I love the gardens in Calarts and the mountains in the background. I had that at my school too but the school here in the Dominican Republic is a lot smaller and the place has been changed a lot to add more building area so that I do not enjoy it anymore. The mountains are either bigger or closer. Inside, your school looks much like the Domínico Americano where I took my English classes: Same walls, doors and corridors. Because of this and an unknown reason I am in love with that place. So much in love. I also loved the library, the place where I spent most of my time. It looks very COOL.
You have made such an amazing view of Cal Arts Creative Spirit and how it has evolved since I was a student in Exp. Animation 1972-74 (the old old days of the punch and Oxberry). I lived in the dorm during that time that was before the Pool was built (and many of the buildings constructed later). It was all a Magical Realm then and still is in new ways. Cal Arts Animation Rocks!
I live in the Philippines and I really want to go to calarts, not just because of the education, but because I really want to be friends with a lot of great artist (classmates). Unfortunately, the tuition is so expensive, like I could buy 2 houses here for that price haha. But I'm not giving up on my dreams, I'm planning on selling my artworks online to save up money (I still got 2 yrs) and using that money to get into a school, and getting better at drawing so I can get a scholarship (any good school with good people). I can't see myself doing something that's unrelated to animation.

I'm a Junior rn and after all my research of looking or searching for and art school for college next year, this is so far AMAZING 🤩🌈 that's the type of school I exactly want. I really wanted to he somewhere close to home or not to far but since it's like 1 hour from where I'm at, this is so amazing and I LOVE IT 😍💕 if anything this could be it. This could be the school I could attend to. This could be the one 🏫🎨

Hey I want to got to calarts when I’m older and I was wondering what’s the difference between character animation and experimental animation, it might be a cool subject to go over in a video with a friend who’s doing experimental animation.
From what I know (I'm a character animator) experimental animation is more about conveying an emotion or a feeling, it's kinda like moving abstract art and its really beautiful (it also usually has some mixed media involved in well). Character animation is what you see on tv and such. I hope this helped a little 😅 if not just look up experimental animation and watch some videos of it.

I researched this because I was curious too, turns out they have a whole page on their website about scholarships, it helped me a lot! You should look into it 😊
Hiii! I know it’s been A WHILE but I was wondering in cal arts what programs and computers do y’all use (computers as in the screens that are JUST SCREENS and you draw on them) :)) I’m trying to get good at animation and drawing!

Aww thanks for posting this!! i actually got accepted to the character animation program at calarts, but i dont know if im gonna go there because well its expensive and i live in Sweden so Idk if im ready for a change that big 🥺😅
Silvia RG omg congrats for getting in!! I can understand the price is crazy and right now everything is in the air anyways with the whole corona situation, but I do think it’s a great great school. I for my part could not have grown this much if it weren’t for this school. But I know there’s really great resources out there that are online (Schoolism, Aaron Blaise‘s classes) that can teach you just as much as you would learn here, and they basically cost nothing compared to CalArts. But there is something about being surrounded by your classmates that are constantly working that is so motivating, and I wouldn’t get that if I were to work on my own in my room, but that is only true for me. Anyways congrats for getting in! Both are really good choices and I am sure you will make the best out of either one of them!
Scribble Diary aw thank you!! Yes im actually in a preparatory art school (fine art) right now and i also rly like being in a school environment!! Unfortunately I think I’m gonna have to say no to calarts and go to another animation school here in Europe that the Swedish government can support 😅.
