    Fun fact: when Yamazaki (director) went to the oscars he actually met steven spielberg and from a rough translation yamazaki said "it was like i met god" they then talked for a while and yamazaki said he loved jaws and the boat chase scene was a homage, to make things even more wholesom spielberg said he saw godzilla minus one 3 times in theaters and for the cherry on top yamazaki gave spielberg a godzilla minus one figure

    The reason the shockwave comes back in is overpressure. The shockwave was so strong it forced the air in the atmosphere away from the blast resulting in a brief moment of negative pressure, then the air is forced back inward by the weight of earths atmosphere which is why it suddenly starts rushing back towards the blast.

      So chances are she was extremely F'ed up after the blast, but the G Cells implanting themselves into her more or less put her back together no matter how mangled she was? Honestly, kinda hardcore. Though I still think she should have stayed dead. It cheapens the emotional growth Koichi goes through in the film. I feel like she should have stayed as part of the tally of his failures so that he could do better by Akiko and himself in life. A painful healing process if you will.
      Bleak, I know. I just feel that bogged the film down for me a bit. Still liked the film, but yeah.

      Imo, the only reason they had her survive with the G-Cells is as a plot point for the future movies. I understand as an outside viewer it might feel like it cheapens the emotional weight of the film, but this is pretty textbook Godzilla fare. Establish an emotional connection with a character only to twist them, through their own means or through environmental pressure, into Godzillas next foe.
      And just because she's not involved with plants or anything right now doesn't keep her character from getting involved in the future. Unless they intend to show us a new iteration of a G-Cell Kaiju, there are only two ways this story goes, one slightly more grounded in reality than the other, which is why I lean towards Plant Mommy and not Thanos Godzilla

    I was born in 1964 (not that that really has anything to do with anything), and I grew up with all the Godzilla movies and loved them all. the scariest one I ever saw at the theater was Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster (a.k.a. Hedora). In the mid 1980's I served in the Navy and visited Japan a few times, and of course, knowing the history between the U.S. and Japan since WWII. and considering the relationship America has had with Japan since then, I was always struck with the Godzilla movies; how Japan used Godzilla as a metaphor for Atomic/Nuclear weapons at the beginning, and how Godzilla eventually became an ally with Man as he fought against other Kaiju (especially Hedora; as a metaphor for pollution) in later movies. and since the first ever Godzilla movie, Americans not only love the movie(s), but also cheer for Japan's victory against any kaiju that attacks them. Only those geniuses at ToHo could think of the idea of using such a destructive force as atomic weapons, and turn it into a "monster" for them to deal with!
    And something else: this Godzilla's atomic breath was such an unexpected surprise! not just his breath melting whatever he uses it against, but CAUSING an atomic explosion with it himself! Fantastically done!

    I know many people thinking why Noriko doesnt push herself and Koichi together into the alley, the first time I watch it also think the same thing. But rewatch it again, rewatch that scene, she got blew away the same moment Koichi pushed into alley. So I think it will be slower spearing a person in rather than push a person in, and it require more energy. Same as pushing a person away in front of a moving car. Just my thought.

    • @mannygee005
      @mannygee005 Před 3 měsíci +5

      wow, good point!, it's physics. She could easily push him and she gets pushed back away from him - but if she wanted both of them in the alley she would need a running start which she did not have time. Also like in billiards, the cue ball will knock another ball away but often the cue ball will stay in place.

    • @TheLanceUppercut
      @TheLanceUppercut Před 2 měsíci +1

      She had a split second as a blast wave from an atomic explosion was coming at them. Nobody can fully think out what to do in that moment. Noriko had time enough to make one decision and she chose to save Koichi. It's beautiful. And it really annoys me when people go "What are you doing?! Tackle him into the alley!"
      I mean, I get it. It's a shocking and horrifying moment, nobody WANTS to see her die. But it's still annoying when people have a problem with her pushing him instead of trying to save them both. Besides...if they both survived, they would have just taken Akiko and left, probably. "Godzilla Minus One" is akin to "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" in that it overshadows the original in many ways. In "G-1," the script is tightly focused on the theme of life, with a kamikaze pilot as its lead. It critiques the government at the time for forcing its military personnel to sacrifice themselves for their country. While the original reinforces the notion of self-sacrifice, "G-1" stands out by emphasizing the fight for life itself. In doing so, it also portrays Godzilla as having a will to survive, showcasing a monster that never truly dies.

    I'm a citizen of Hiroshima Prefecture. In this movie, there are 30,000 victims of Godzilla's Atomic Breath, but I will explain the actual atomic bombing. The temperature at 8:15 a.m. on August 15, 1945 was less than 30 degrees Celsius, but it instantly rose to 3000 degrees due to the atomic bombing of the B29 bomber. The damage situation at that time has been revealed by a follow-up survey that can be said to be the continuing obsession of Hiroshima City. First of all, people within a radius of 1 km from the hypocenter instantly boiled blood in their bodies due to high temperatures, and blood vessels ruptured and died instantly. And people within 1 kilometer outside it were caught in a building that collapsed by the blast and became immobile and burned to death due to the fire. In addition, in the outer 1 kilometer range, people suffered for three days and three nights because they were exposed to the high-concentration radioactive rain that fell immediately after the atomic bomb. At this moment, about 90,000 citizens lost their lives. In addition, American prisoners of war who were imprisoned in Hiroshima City also followed the same fate.

It was interesting to see that Godzilla when he was small looked around the ground, searching, and even attacked those people on the ground and "actively" trampled them. But when he was huge, he didn't even look down when walking through the city and buildings, probably not even noticing those tiny ant-like humans being trampled by his feet. Yamazaki (the director) said he's not gonna make a sequel to this movie, BUT he would be sad if someone else is chosen by Toho to works on the sequel, and thus he would be happy making one, the other reason is bcs there will be 2 solo Godzilla movie (Shin and Minus One) back to back, so he wants to change that, and as for the sequel Yamazaki want it to be Godzilla vs another Kaiju

  • @jmsmys13ify
    @jmsmys13ify Před 4 měsíci +3

    You guys basically guessed it. She survived, like others, because she's infected with G-cells. It's been alluded to that that would be the driving force if a direct sequel is made. The actress said that she'd likely become one of the villians/monsters, and that she'd enjoy the opportunity.
    They'll probably give Yamazaki the director's chair again (what possible reason would they have not to?), but I don't believe it'll be a sequel. Just another timeline, this time more of a straight forward monster vs monster. But that's my bet based off of his vague "what ifs..."

    The fact that this movie got an Oscar for visual effects as well deserved, but I'm kind of disappointed that the acting wasn't given an Oscar nomination, oh well.
    Godzilla regeneration is legendary throughout the entire universe of Godzilla and other Toho monsters, So much so that death doesn't seem to stop him.... in a way
    The cells on the neck, the Director had mentioned that it was Godzilla's cells… Don't quote me on it. I might be wrong. The information could change, but that's what I've been able to look up.
    The music composition throughout the entire movie was spectacular, including Godzilla Theme
    Godzilla's path of destruction always represents the wrath of the earth, as well as him claiming territory
    31:53 yeah going in between the legs, sometimes doesn't work, especially if the tail is moving back-and-forth and he may just suddenly move because you don't know what could happen. Ask for the side that would be smart unless whatever damage she causes goes to the side as well.
    Remember, Godzilla is the God of destruction wherever his path goes destruction follows, including his tail, starts whipping everywhere and hitting buildings just out of spite
    33:10 gentlemen may I introduced you Godzilla's atomic breath due to the fact that he is a walking breathing nuclear reactor, he can create weapons based off of that power inside of him… Although this version of the atomic breath is a little bit more unstable.
    53:59 the music in the scene was actually the original theme for Godzilla in 1954 and it's persisted ever since you can even hear it in the monster verse movie Godzilla King of the monsters. This song was first composed by Akira Ifukube.... I think has either passed away or still. I don't know yet.
