    Nice tour and nice shop! I am over in CDA and have the Metabo 12in slider. I like it because, I can get it closer to the wall, as the dual rails face forward, not out the back. They have had some killer deals at Lowes. I did upgrade the blade and it is a beast. I am in the middle of doing several videos myself and it is in a large part from videos like this one. Good job.

      @brewbuilds  Před 5 měsíci

      How’s it going neighbor! 👋🏻I actually haven’t looked into the Metabo. I don’t really need a saw that sits close to the wall, my miter station is fairly deep, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be a good option. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll keep an eye out for your up coming videos. 🤘🏻

    Nice shop! I'm overdue for a shop makeover. It's super cluttered and not very efficient. I've started purging some of the clutter. But need to move things around.
    I just recently got the Festool Kapex. My main two buying points... Dust collection and accuracy. It costs a pretty penny. So if you just break down stuff and dont really care about the accuracy... I don't know if the value is there. A lot of reviews about the dust collection say that it's not "all that". And I kinda thought it would be better. That is... until I cut without my dust collector on. Man it really shows how great it really is then.

    Very cool shop! I started my shop in March, walk out basement 600 sq ft. I have a pole smack in the middle (support) but I did the same thing. I wrapped it, ran power down it and also ran my dust collection down it. I used osb as well. I went with white walls to reflect the light better but funnily enough I used a very similar grey as my accent wall, then used a white plywood from Lowe's as my french cleat wall. I like contrast. I'm headed over to check out that Harbor Freight mod you did for the bench, and I just subbed!

    Just building my personal shop this year, and I'm sure to implement some of your ideas. I've used The Ridgid 12" sliding compound Mitre chop saw for many years. As a job site saw and shop saw. I love its large-sized platform. As you said, Not the best for dust collection. The only suggestion I can provide, from my opinion. Do not get the Bosch Chop saw! It cuts well but is a huge pain in the butt to change angles and generally use. A company I used to work for had a couple. It just continually made me angry. Thanks for the video, Love your shop.

    • @brewbuilds
      @brewbuilds  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey thanks for watching, and I’m glad you liked it!
      I actually was given that same 12” Ridgid saw you’re talking about. (Not the one you saw in the video), but the guide mechanism for the guard was broken so it cause really bad binding when using it, and unfortunately they no longer sell the replacement parts to fix it. Aside from using it without the guard, it made it not worth using, so I ended up getting rid of it. That’s unfortunate about the Bosch because that was high up on my list. But I appreciate the non biased feedback.👍🏻
      Thanks for taking the time to comment, and keep me posted on how your shop turns out. 👊🏻

    Congrats, the shop is looking awesome and as for your comment about a new mitresaw, if the budget is there then the simple answer is to purchase the Festool kapax system. If for no other reason than the facts that this mitresaw is a beast when it comes down to the perfect degree cutting etc. I've had a few mitresaw systems over the year's and honestly I wish I hadn't wasted my money over and over and instead just gone and put my money in the festool products, thus would have saved me plenty of money over the years.

      I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the major brands now days. Ridgid was my initial purchase years ago, but I personally started having issues with them, and in my area their “lifetime service agreement” didn’t really help me out much, unless I wanted to pay to ship it to them for them to have it for a minimum of 6 weeks. Their oscillating belt/spindle sander has treated me well though. 👍🏻At the end of the day it’s all about finding what you like with in your budget. 👊🏻

    Killer shop. Love the bathroom door and whole setup.
    Surprised someone said bandsaw lesser used in woodshop. Coming from many sources it is the one power tool many would rather have more than even the table saw. I know a few prominent woodworking people that think of it as the one power tool necessity because of resawing and you can do all your ripping on it.
    Then there are the hand tool people that between the bandsaw and a planer are the only power tools they have. Many of them just want to do more woodworking and manually resawing isn’t ideal over dozens of projects. Paul Sellers has bandsaw videos and besides maybe two lathe videos he probably has 6 or more bandsaw videos.

Also how you’ve done things. Love your shop. As for me I’m an old Toolmaker, furniture/cabinet maker AND custom bike builder. Retired now so my hobby shop is in my 3 car garage. Sadly vehicles now sit out, except for 2 custom bikes which I’ll roll out if I’m doing a big project. My shop is more metal working. Several metal saws, a Bridgeport milling machine and a nice tool room lathe. MIG and TIG welders. A plasma cutter. Welding / assembly table. Shears, 20 ton press 2 finger brakes for sheetmetal work. A drill press and a 5 HP compressor with aluminum lines. Small spray paint booth ( air brushing) 2 sand blasting cabinets. A tiny jewelers one and a standard one. 2 tool boxes loaded with precision measuring tools along with mechanics and carpentry stuff. Storage cabinet with all chemicals, oils and such. Small table saw and a Kobalt compound miter saw which is great and I’d recommend to you. Several sanders and grinders . Everything minus the mill , lathe and compressor are on wheels. All this and still room to work 😜. Enjoyed your video.
