- My first custom eurorack case was nothing more than 2 wooden "cheeks" that the Doepfer DIY kit rails would screw on to. What I liked about it was the angles of the modules for twiddling knobs and sliders!
While this tiny case didn't last long in it's 6U x 84hp form, those wooden cheeks are still in use today in the 6U x 168hp Sequencer Rack. I really do love the simple design.

I've built three DIY cases. Yours is a whole lot nicer than my first one!
If you think modular is expensive, try getting the tools to build everything yourself ;-)
I regret not documenting my first steps, I just started a few months ago and got cameras later than actual modules...

I also went down the DIY route for cases. After being frustrated getting the rail holes just right I went ahead and tried the end brackets instead. An extra $10 per row, but I'll never go back.
I bought those end brackets too, but maybe due to how every module is manufactured differently, I couldn't fit the modules vertically once the rails were screwed into the brackets. I may need to try a different supplier of end brackets tho... might have just gotten a shoddy batch.
@@VisionsMusicGroup Perhaps you mismatched z-rail brackets with vector rails or vice versa? I've stuck with TipTop on both so haven't had that issue.
@@brianbrill That is possible. It was a long time ago, I am sure I had no idea what I was buying 🤣 Good point, though. They were only off a smidge, too. Like, 2mm or so. I'll see if I can demo that in the next case build video, because I did want to use end brackets vs drilling holes.
