oh and try to hide the litter box inside a cabinet with a little side opening, works like a charm!

Build you kitty play pen that connects to outside cats love that you can connect from the inside out and your cat can be closed in so nothing happens to him while he is outside. You can make it as long and extensive as you like.
I always train my cats to stay off countertops by placing a row of clear packing tape, sticky side up, on the surface, near the edge, and just roll the two ends of the strip under, to keep the strip in place. When the cats lands on the tape, it sticks to him and he immediately jumps down and runs away. It only takes a few times, for the cat to remember what happens if he jumps on the counter. (I don't have to put tape on my counters anymore; they all learn fast.)

I am so happy for y’all. I think y’all will be Amazing. I have always thought Trace will be an amazing dad, and Lydia will be a awesome mom.
I loved what you said about names. I had picked a few names and when I seen the babies, I used the one me and my hubby thought looked like the baby. And now the kids definitely have names that suit them. Addyson Kylie and Trenton Jace are their names.

What about a barn door?
They make those doors that can be like built in the wall and then slide out and lock.
They make some of them to be like see through so that would be super cool for the kitchen.
A family I dog-sit for used a folding room divider when they trained their puppy. You can use it later as room decorations. Trace could maybe build one with window shutters hinged together.

So excited for you guys. As for Maui make sure to start the room transition soon. Because having a new member at the house is a big change, and having 2 big changes at the same time will stress him out. My cats loved to jump on counters too, Amazon sells Cat training tape. You place it on your counter Sticky side up, Maui will not like the feeling and jump off. The only con is you can’t use your counter for at least 1 week. Good luck and keep us posted. 😊
Lydia and Trace, it is good to teach your children other language because my husband and I are deaf and taught our twins sons sign language and they became CODA and good have an language in family with love.
For a door to separate the kitchen from the living room use a “barn door”. I think it work.
Do a sliding barn door type idea that can latch at top and bottom to keep it secure. If you don't latch at the bottom he might be able to pull it outwards at the bottom and sneak in. It would look nice and slide out of the way during the day.
Everyone's labour and delivery is unique. The key for us was knowing the various options and what each of them were going to mean for how labour and delivery were going to progress as a result.
My suggestion for the doorway would be bifold french doors so they fold back out of the way, but light comes thru when you want it. They make vinyl accordion doors that slide back to one side but it leaves a gap at the bottom of the door for the cat to go under.
What about a pocket door? Or a sliding barn door!? So excited for y’all! ♥️

To close off the kitchen,, try building a sliding barn door. You can keep it open when you are there and when you leave or go to bed slide it closed

My son is having his 1st son at the end of May. The name they chose is Sage, which can be used for a girl too.

Maui idea - put a table top on top of the litter box so it looks like a side table. And then a barn door to close off the kitchen
I’m not sure if your able to do a pocket door between the living room and kitchen, I’m not sure what wiring or plumbing if any is in the wall behind your tv. Or you could do a barn door to close it off as well. I’m so excited for you both and I can’t wait for the gender reveal!!
Obviously it’s completely up to you guys and what you’re comfortable with, but don’t let anyone scare or sway you’re decision on YOUR birth! At the end of the day, it’s up to you guys! I am 19 and had an at home non medicated completely all natural birth. I had my baby 6 months ago and had an 8 hour labor from start to holding my baby girl in my arms. I wish I could give birth all the time with the same experience. All I’m saying is everyone and their body is different so I don’t feel that anyone can say anything against the other really unless they’ve done both:) I plan on doing the same exact way for my next one:)
Regarding a natural birth, it’s so important to be prepared. Read as much as you can. My husband and I took Bradley Birthing Classes. Ultimately, I think it’s good to have a plan A and a Plan B. Lol. By the way, you look great Lydia. Maybe a barn door can go between the living room and the kitchen or of you want something less permanent, you could get a shoji screen.
For separating the kitchen off for Maui you could do some accordion doors, and you could easily open them up and they would be out of the way of everything.
If you have cats, they're going to jump on the counters. You can spend boatloads of time and energy training them not to, but the second you're not looking, they're going to jump up there anyway. I learned a long time ago just to wipe down the counter with disinfecting cleaner before using it. It takes 10 seconds and I don't have to worry about if the cats have gotten up there or not.
Lydia you are glowing…Trace Too…what helped me during my pregnancies was peach Snapple ice tea….also works for Stomach viruses…a barn door would look great if not how about and accordion door….sure Trace has some great ideas. Can’t wait for the gender reveal…time is flying…enjoy this time together
You should install an accordion door between the living room and kitchen. I've seen ones that would match the clean boho looks you've got in your house.
I know what you mean my morning sickness was always worse later in the evenings I have definitely got better since I’m in the second trimester but yeah I totally relate your doing good little momma hang in there it will get better!!!
I’m pretty positive if you can draw something out sweet Warden can make it! Since you are short on space either an accordion door with wire mesh (farm like) in between the wooden panels to be able to see out and let the natural light in. Glass would look nice too. Or Lowe’s has narrow accordion slat doors that are 48 x 80 if that width is too small, you can add a wood frame against the wall to make the width smaller. Hope this gives you some ideas.
Make sure the doors have light go through. You can buy folding screen type and rebuild it so the top is not open for the kitty to jump over as well.
Make a butler door in with clear glass so you still gets the sun light. A butler door is amazing I had one or a double glass door. But a butler door is easy with a kitchen so you can just push it open

I had both my girls naturally. My first weighed 8lbs. 7oz. and my second weighed 9lbs. 7oz. I did Lamaze classes, which was very helpful. With my second they gave me something to relax me and I wish I had never taken anything.
My third was natural, the only time I didn’t tear
I see there’s a comment in German. No time like the present to practice. Especially because Lydia’s family speaks German it is good to teach your baby from the start. And it’s ok if Lyidia’s mom gets it rolling! Didn’t know what to call her. Oma? Right? And Opa for your dad?
There are magnetic screens and room screens which touch the floor (no crawl space). Could easily put latches on the room screen sides too and bottom to keep Maui from pushing through. The magnetic are usually see through - but may be easy to get through the magnetic strip (for Maui).

We have friends who speak different languages. The kids speak English to dad, and Afrikaans to mom, and danish at school. They are sponges. Start at the beginning and they will know both. It’s awesome!! Good luck you’ll.

I fully support attempting a natural unmedicated delivery!! You are so much stronger than you realize! Just make sure to mentally prepare and learn all the breathing techniques because they are a HUGE help! Fear and holding your breath make labor 10x harder but if you can remain calm, relaxed, and just breath through it you can totally do it natural!! I recommend Built to Birth and Mama Natural for learning all the best tips and tricks!

I used candied ginger for morning sickness with my oldest(he is now 30) and for my youngest I used ginger tea. But I was sick for 16 weeks with the oldest and youngest. My middle child I was only sick for the first 8 weeks and ginger ale helped with the nausea.
They have decorative screens. You could find one that matches your living room and hide Maui’s things with that.
Thank you for the vlog! You look both great and I'm so happy for you. Please teach your children German, Lydia. Speaking different languages opens the heart and soul and trains the brain so it makes it easier to learn all other subjects i.e. history, geography, maths, etc. At least this is my own experience being multilingual.
Said this before to your sister in law. You seem to crave what the baby will want to eat after they are born. So true, my 1st was chocolate, 2nd was breads and cereals and my 3rd was crazy he loved everything. Now in their 40's still their favs.

Hey Lydia, make sure you don't have access to the kitty litter box while you are pregnant. You and the baby can get really sick from it. If you keep your beautiful kitty in the living room whenever you go out won't she try to slip through the open door to escape from the house, especially when you are coming in with your arms full of baby, diaper bag, etc.? Just something to think about. Have you tried ginger ale for your nausea? I always kept saltines & ginger ale close by, even on the night stand. It helped for me but didn't help one of our daughters during her pregnancies. I'm just so excited for you both that I could just about burst! Enjoy making tons of memories!
