    Excellent...I love your dry fire advice! I am a big game hunter with two Remington 700s (.270 and 300 H & H). I usually dry fire at least five times before taking each shot. With each dry fire I focus consistent cheek weld, on trigger follow through, and no reticle movement. By dry firing 5 times first, I do not see any difference in my first cold bore shot versus subsequent shots. I hand load and usually shoot 5-shot groups for testing 2 loads, ten total shots and I'm done for the day.

    Nice video, but I still don't like 2 stage triggers. I've been shooting singles since I was 5yrs old, do after 31yrs of singles, it's what I like.. And I like mine around 2.5-3lbs. I just know when I go to squeeze the trigger it's gonna go boom.. I guess it's what I'm use too as I don't like and can't get use to a two stage... Don't like the play of the 1st Stg

    I own a Ruger Precision Rifle and am new to long range shooting. For dry firing drills do you suggest using a dummy round or is it ok to dry fire with an empty chamber? I just want to make sure I'm not damaging anything.

      @SHLowlight  Před 8 lety +3

      +James Keeton I have no problem dry firing with an empty chamber, that is mainly for .22s not to, however if you are more comfortable with a snap cap go ahead

    When I am shooting from the bench every now and then the recoil kicks the hell out of me and the other times I can hardly feel it, what am I doing wrong ? My rifles is a light 30.06. Thanks !

    • @Garyalarson1
      @Garyalarson1 Před 6 lety +1

      sa 3006 I’d guess you are inconsistent on how you are addressing the rifle in your shoulder pocket. Leaning into a 30-06 and managing the recoil vs allowing the rifle to get moving really hard against your shoulder. Just a guess since I’m not there with you. Try loading the bipod consistently to the point that the rifle is balanced in your shoulder pocket without holding it in your hands. Consistency = Accuracy. Good luck!

    awesome! I saw a video of an ex sniper saying to squeeze your whole hand as well as the trigger finger......is this really true?? confused

    • @SHLowlight
      @SHLowlight  Před 7 lety +2

      I graduated USMC Sniper School, never heard of that, you isolate the trigger finger.

    Will dry fire practice damage my firing pin if repeatedly done without a snap cap or dummy of some sort?

    • @duckslayer11000
      @duckslayer11000 Před 5 lety

      I like to have a snap cap for the simple fact that then I know the exact condition of the chamber.

    • @whomagoose6897
      @whomagoose6897 Před 3 lety

      I use A-Zoom brand dummy cartridges. They are made from aluminum with a primer area that has a drop of latex. It's purpose is to transfer whatever kinetic force from the hammer through the firing pin into the soft latex. I tried a lot of the Snap Cap brand cartridges which are made from plastic. The Snap Cap always broke after a few months of use. The A-Zoom dummy cartridges have been in use for 10+ years. Sized for popular calibers. From .22LR to 12-ga.
