Newcastle manager Eddie Howe spoke today ahead of their match with Sheffield United, where he spoke about the future of Bruno Guimaraes.
Earlier this week The Telegraph reported Arsenal and Man City are considering a summer move for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes - and now Fabrizio Romano has posted on social media the Brazilian has a month-long £100m release clause.
The clause only lasts a month - between the last week of May and last week of June - so the Premier League title rivals will have to move fast.
It raises the prospect of Arsenal and City going head-to-head for a top midfield target again after Arsenal won the race to sign Declan Rice for £105m last summer.
The Telegraph claim that Guimaraes is aware of the interest. PSG are also said to be admirers of the Brazil international.

agree, this summer the priority needs to be young centre backs, once players come back from injury/suspension we have enough in midfield. If Minteh is ready next season that would be great, or if we could sell Murphy and have some cash for another RW that would be good but there aren't many good left footed RW around so even an okish one would be expensive.

I obviously am desperate for him to stay as a Newcastle fan, but regardless of him buying a house or anything else, why would he get a release clause written into his contract if he wasn't at least interested in hearing what Champions League clubs would be offering him this summer. It could also be the case that the club were happy to include the clause because if they get the 100m they'll use it to build the rest of the squad. I just hope that if he does go that it will be to France, Spain or Germany so we don't have to watch him play for CIteh, Arsenal or Liverpool.

Barca can't afford him, Real Madrid don't need him and will be spending all their cash on Mbappe anyway. Bayern don't generally spend that much on players. He's not going to go to PSG to play in that farmer's league, especially with Mbappe gone. Post June 30th club will be able to refuse offers from other English clubs (they won't want to sell him to a domestic rival), the only way I see him leaving is if Bernardo Silva leaves city and they want Bruno as a replacement, every player in the world will want to play for Pep at City and ultimately players can force the move if they really want to.

Well this is a tactic. A way they operate. This is exactly the same sort of thinking with the Bruno saga. Keith and co have dragged this out as much as they can and kept bringing it up. They've made a bigger deal out of the clause every week. It’s one of Keith’s first questions to Eddie. Transfer bull. A selling point and a talking point.
It feels (and I’m 99% sure) Keith is one of many plebs who wants Bruno to be sold. Firstly, for the 100m, and sky sports viewing. And secondly to believe that Newcastle have a phenomenal midfielder who all the big boys want. (He’s not. I love Bruno but apart from 1/3 games hes really average usually) so Keith what your doing is wrong. Because it’s causing doubt in fans minds. Possible doubt with the players and staff. And I have no doubt that sky will bring this up again and again and Isak as well all summer long!
