I like the simplicity of your rig it's quick easy and inexpensive. Q? but why no glow beads or sleeves to keep the line/hooks straighter? The thing about the lighter less stiff line and no swivel crimps that rotate on the hook lines on your Rig is the tendency for the dropper loops to wrap around the main trunk line on the fall to the bottom. Or on the bottom . I find they tend to wrap around the main line more without the rotation of the hook lines. Also no sleeves makes it more likely to wrap up.
    Don't u find this?
If I'm fishing 750-900 deep using up to 5lbs of lead. They wrap a lot.
How do you avoid that. Especially when wrapped up in the bags pre wrigged. The line gets memory and wants to curl into the circle it was stored in as well vs laying straight. This makes you miss bites if it's not really straight the main line.
How do you avoid these issues.
I like the simplicity and the cost savings but the wrapping twisting of the hook dropper tends to be an issue more. Also why no glow bead or sleeves. Don't you find the hooks tend to not stick out straight increases chance of wrapping on the fall especially.
It's frustrating to fish have to wait 7 minutes to check and find its wrapped around not fishing right.
Crimps are more expensive, if you need to cut your line after a fish and retie you either need to recrimp or now with yours the double loop dropper is cut.
Yours is faster easy, cheap , fast to tie up new ones in the field. But i have that twist issue and the pre made ahead in loops the get that memory.
Do you stretch em out or hang weights a while so they lose that memory to curl?
The wrapping issues on the drops makes me nuts.
If you free spool it down it's spinning. You could drop slower but takes longer.
I get more bites on the lighter line than the heavy hard 100 or 150 . But the twists and tangles even with rotating snap swivel on weight and to braid drives me crazy.
How did you avoid that happening.
I know it's a lot of questions but more bites vs wraps and tangles? 😱😱🤯🤯. I don't know.
I've been 4 times now 700 -1000 ft. This issue is always something.

Yes that's a great idea. U will get a better hook set in that angle. Nice break down.

Thanks for the video. I will look a little closer at how I put the hooks on my dropper loops.

I like to make the dropper loops into a t knot, but it’s a simple effective rig, and I agree about the circle hook attachment.

@@ReelHazardous i like the crimp on swivels for less tangles up and down, especially with fish on. Do you find your rig gets pretty twisted up sometimes? I get bite offs a lot from gemfish when trying to catch oilfish at night, so I like to lose the least amount of gear when I drop rigs for those.

Do you use the T-swivel crimp sleeves to connect the branch lines to the main line?

@@ReelHazardous that's for grouper, tiles, rosies and sea bass. i can get 4 to 5 trips out of the rigs before i need to redo the droppers. i make the rig 6 feet long and a dropper ever 12 inches (5 hooks) 8/0 vmp nemesis

Do you have trouble locking down the knots on 200 or 100 on the droppers? The sash weight.
Instead of 4 wraps 3 or 2 is enough? I like the heavier because they stay straighter less wrapping around.
How do you manage with the 200. How many wraps? Any issues getting the heavy double through the hook eyes of 8/0 ? Kinda thick the double loop of bigger than 100 lb ?
Any suggestions. The simplicity and cost savings and making more if needed fast out there is the plus but not using hard mono or just plain mono the 100 tends to wrap around for me more.
How do you manage the 200 double through 8/0 and how many wraps? Also sleeves or beads?
The sleeves keep the hook straighter. Or do u think doesn't matter.
I find on the drops to 750-100 they must spin around as they fall.
U probably get less of that with 200? Plain mono like Ande or ?
I'm interested in your heavier line setup for the twisting issues but let me know if you don't mind sharing your thoughts. How hard to tighten. Less loops . I would imagine anything less than 8/0 the double 200 loop is hard to thread?
Thanks. Interested to hear your feedback on it.

I do just straight braid to a snap swivel which connects to the rig.

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  Před 2 lety

You can slide those on the loop before putting the hook on. The nice thing about this rig is it is pretty flexible. You can do beads or no beads and change hook sizes at any time.
