Whatabout the Boerenwar in Souht Africa. The English had great difficulty in overcoming these boeren warriors. The Dutch boeren literally invented the concept of "commando". Their tactics and warfar were very skilled.
The English invented the concentration-camps at the time of the so-called Boer War. Where many boeren went to their families and died pitiful deaths. This was the only way the British could overcome the Boers.
While the Boer warriors fought on the battlefields, the British captured their families. Thus the Boers were broken and disrupted.
Otherwise, they would never have lost, were very adept and know the land and were survivors. To think that Boers were even greatly outnumbered.

Mooi filmpje maar er was iets raar met het helikopter-geluid. Dat bleef maar aanzwellen en er waren meer helikopters te horen dan te zien.....

How can anyone take the Dutch armed forces seriously or any European one for that matter. After talking to to several of these service men and women and asking them why they have inlisted a variaty of reasons are given such as seeing the world, having a non office hours job or a non office job, or te improve my chances in the civilian world, or my education is free, or for the adventure, even playing with high tech and expensive toys, Patriottism is hardly mentioned so how well are they motivated to lay down their lives for a "cause" like defending their country engaging in combat and man to man fights...
This dna is missing in most of the European armed forces... Let us be clear the Dutch has never faught a war...
In WW2 they surrendered within a week. The "war" they so called "faught" in Indonesia was actually committing attrocities and massacre of villages... There was never a war... A war is faught between armies of almost similar strenght... They faught against a people fighting to survive and to exist... The Dutch government and King has already expressed their apology for this...
The one chance they in the 1990s to prevent a massacre in Srebrenica they were silent and did nothing... For this Dutch government had to apologize and and pay reparations...
So coming back, to the issue at hand, no matter how strong NATO think it is ultimately most of the soldiers will either run for their lives, be killed taken as pow or commit suicide on the battlefield... No matter technological advances .. ultimately it is not technology and machines that go to war...but people decide for what ever reason to fight and kill each other...calling it a war ...
The dna, such as the awareness, willingness the eagerness, and above all the comprehension is missing, so according to the Tsu Zu rules of warfare, NATO and Europe have already lost before even starting a war against anyone whether Russia or China Iran North Korea etc.
So Europe and people from Netherlands think again because you can be sure your boys and girls won't come back home when they go on a real fighting mission....

I know it's probably useless to respond, but I can't help myself.
Outward nationalism is generally discouraged in many European countries because we've seen what can happen (WW2). In learning that lesson we pulled pretty much the whole world into killing each other, and most people really don't wanna do that again. That doesn't mean we aren't a proud people, who love our country, and mostly the people in it. It means we try not to get into dick measuring contests with other nations, and instead focus our energy on improving our own country. A lot of patriotism/ nationalism is just a childish game of "look at me I'm better than you", and in the end nobody gets along anymore.
As for the "having fought (with o, not a) a war". If we take your definition of war only Russia and Ukraine have been to war in recent years. If you consider, what for example the Americans have recently done to be wars, then we have, because we were there with them for a lot of them. Obviously not in big numbers, because we're a small nation, with an even smaller military.
If you're talking about military tradition, the Dutch marines are one of the oldest still standing fighting forces in the world, with the Dutch Navy being about 200 years older still...
The Politionele Actions in Indonesia are a dark page in our country's history, which is why the government has apologized. It was however mostly a political mistake, more so than a military one. And sure, there were definitely atrocities committed by Dutch soldiers, but most of that was as a result of the political situation, and soldiers who (who at times already had PTSD from WW2) were put into impossible situations by politicians. It obviously doesn't excuse any atrocities, but it also doesn't say much about the Dutch military as a whole.
The soldiers in Srebrenica were Dutch, but they were there as NATO soldiers, not as Dutch ones. This means they had to abide by NATO rules, which at the time meant they could only carry a very limited amount of ammunition. This meant that they were doomed from the start. They wanted to bring more ammo, but they weren't allowed to, resulting in the well known genocide. Since then NATO policy has changed, because they learned their lesson.
As for Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" (not Tsu Zu's "rules of war"). He also says that you should put your soldiers in positions where they can't escape, so they will really fight.... And I'm sorry, but I doubt there are any societies these days that will accept their regular soldiers being sent on suicide missions. In other words, he can fuck off.
Also, as Ukraine is pretty much NATO these days (militarily at least), we can see how easy they are being run over by the Russians with all their fighting DNA or whatever the fuck you were on about.... (Just in case you missed the news: Russians are deserting in droves, commiting suicide not to be captured, running (rightly) away from the draft, and starting a civil war)
      Peace ✌️
