Members of my Org wish to get into some piracy action. But want to learn how to do so as FUN pirates, kind of a Cpt Jack Sparrow style. As opposed to the griefing or ganking vibe.
Did they mess up the hud on prospector, cant get yellow icons with Aril helmet. Works on other ships.
They changed it so helmets are no longer the determining factor with HUD color UI, I wish they didn't :)
What is the purpose of turning the mining laser on so far away? Then inching forward?
To control the power that is going into the rock. Usually you up and down the charge level, but with the Helix, its better to use distance instead of the charge level.
Where I can buy the Helix Mining Laser & the Focus III Module?
CRU-L1 (I believe).
Most L1 stations with a refining deck. Google ERKUL DPS calculator. It has ship components and armor locations.

What's the credits per hour in a prospector currently?
It's not great. 150-350k if I am being honest. Occasionally you can do a little better, but that's a solid average :)
You can make an average of about 50K per prospector load you put in to refine as long as you're not collecting a LOT of trash rock. Then it's just a matter of how many loads (refinery orders) you can or want to haul in to market at one time.
Prior to quite a bit of nerfing and borking, I was running 4 prospector loads into the refinery in just over an hour. Refined, those 4 loads fit into a Freelancer Max and paid me roughly 250K.
Now, I do Salvage for the money, averaging about 3 to 3 and a half million per hour in a Reclaimer running solo. I still do the mining but now I do it because I just like mining.
150k to 350k is a decent income for a solo player.
Comparatively speaking, you could spend that same amount of time you earned 150k-350k, and earn millions. That's really the issue. :) But hey, if you are enjoying it, enjoy it :)
