CZcams recently added a "podcasts" type of content. Since we'd already off-and-on posted World's Greatest Con on both the Modern Rogue channel, and the Scam Stuff channel... this seemed like a good opportunity to post the definitive, every-single-episode back catalog all in one place. If you're new to WGC, welcome. You're in for a ride. I hope you love it. -Brian
The story of the Trojan Horse I heard was that most of their forces feigned retreat, leaving the horse behind along with one soldier who would be captured and 'forced' to reveal the Greeks had valued it but had been forced to leave it behind.
I read the book about Operation Mincemeat. Truly amazing! And the idea of describing a con like that has Brian Brushwood written all over it. Well done!
Already listened back when the season came out, but commenting any putting this on in the background now to help the algorithm since I like the idea of putting the whole thing here. haha
Ok so I played you playlist it starts with the last episode got about 30 min in and reading comments found out. But I heard will the plans get on Hitler desk. And yes this was the best con ever. I love this story and will gladly listen to all 4 episodes tonight. So it's 7pm and I got my dinner lets begin.
Yeah, I fell for that con. The price for me was less than $200 for the pair, but that was around 1990, and the speakers were better than what I had. I used them for years, so I don't feel too bad.
Here's a trick question: law usually postulates that in order to be guilty, one has to have a guilty mind. So, even though you have not committed a crime since the speakers had not been stolen, in the moment when you bought them you believed that you were receiving stolen property. So, you had a guilty mind. Did you commit a crime then? You had every intention to do so. IMHO: Operation Mincemat could very possibly be among the top cons but I suspect the top ones possibly never get out. i.e. I could imagine the Moon landing to be a con. Not to fool the average people but to financially ruin the Soviet Union.
Is this a re-upload? Did someone decide to take this down or did it just appear here to remind everyone of Season 3 of _Worlds Greatest Con_ because I would accept that as well... Not that I would complain either way, since I love Season 1 and would listen to the story a third time with pleasure.

I started today with season 1, episode 1 (and yes, it's because season 3 is rounding the corner), but this seems like a good home for the whole thing to live. All that's a long way to say: yes. I'm gonna upload each episode daily this week. -Brian
@@scamschool well that's cool because I didn't even know how existed. So now I have something new to binge on lol. And Brian, just as you are a natural on screen, you are a natural on audio as well, your narration is fluid, soothing, and entertaining.
The con is that none of the story happened but you want it to have happened so you beleve the story even though its made up :D True or not, once you spend enough time to hear the story its to late, you will not stop the story even if you think its fake, you've invested to much time. So you keep on spending time until its done. :D so if you want to protect yourself from being con'ed you can buy my new book for a low reasonable price of 69.27...
Good content, but the music, especially near the end, gets too loud and starts to drown out the narrator. Also could edit the whole thing down a bit and remove some of the asides, but overall, solid content.
I've been a big fan of what I think you consider asides. The small details are what make this feel real and approachable, and it gives a conversational style to a podcast which most have to have a second host to replicate.
15:16 "This is the first time America's been part of a land war." What strange definition of "land war" are you using? Mexican-American War, US Civil War, and World War 1 were largely on land.
Hm, a bit sad that this is emphasizing the audio aspect. I've always been more of a visual guy and shots of retro video equip just isn't enough for me. Awhile back, they did this thing where Brian and Jason would have a topic, they would just go back and forth about it and I loved those, even just having 2 dudes talk about it on screen is better than this. Not saying this content is in any way bad, but it really isn't my cup of tea.

Well done!
When I think about the greatest con of WWII, I think of Juan Pujol García.
Definitely excited for the next episode already, was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
Great idea for a series. Love this worlds greatest con subject
Wow these episodes are going to be your best work yet I believe well done can't wait for the next!!!!!!!
Plot Twist: there is no part 2. But your home was robbed while you were distracted.

Damn Brother, what a great cast...😁👍
I need more of this.
misinformation is a very powerful weapon. this series is very interesting
Worlds greatest cons hands down amazing lessons
It is plenty possible to fool an honest person. That is the con being played in this series.
Yeah, I fell for that con. The price for me was less than $200 for the pair, but that was around 1990, and the speakers were better than what I had. I used them for years, so I don't feel too bad.
I definitely held on to mine in many years of defiance. -Brian
I love this!
Acoustic Monitor speakers
I fell for the same exact con.😂
Solid. Well done.
When is the next episode!!!!
A little long but I jumped through it and found it interesting.
So season 3 is on the way then ?
episode 4 just dropped an hour ago! -Brian

I had that job for awhile in California.
I just watched Operation Mincemeat!
You saw Operation Mincemeat?

It was the Poles that did most of the heavy lifting breaking the Enigma code, not the Brits, and they don't get the recognition they deserve.
I’m sure you’re right, but this is a decidedly British tale of one of history’s greatest deceptions
♥️

ergh. Okay. "Overseas land war."
@@scamschool Um, World War 1...
errrrgghh... ummmm... "The first overseas land war to be covered on the 'World's Greatest Con' podcast"...
heh. nailed it. (I hope?)

Thank you for giving this podcast a try. We tried to make audio a bit more engaging.
What's up with the long musical interludes where you don't talk?
That's where the ads go. But you're getting the ad-free version. -Brian
If you really think this is the greatest con, you must read about Joan Pujol, AKA Garbo.
He's literally a character in this story. -brian
Not stolen they are extremely cheap knockoffs could be bought for $20
Ah! I see that you, too, listened to the episode!
