    Hello Hugo,
    I am a 16 year old living in London, and around 2 months ago I was in need of a good suit. I had my end of year prom, as well as a summer job in the City of London (the financial district) and so I started researching suits and came across your channel- and it really helped me learn quickly about men's style. Thanks to you, I got many compliments about my ties and suits etc... and still do- and somehow I got a reputation around the office for being a good dresser. So I really wanted to thank you for teaching about men's style and class that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
    Cheers!

      What sort of patterns/styles are you sporting? It must have been complex to achieve results that draw compliments whilst respecting some degree of conformity and formality expected in finance.

    • @andreaolivo3401
      @andreaolivo3401 Před 5 lety +6

      @@fish18ish96 I guess since the financial district has gotten less formal over the years, and I wanted to have some fun with it that I was just more formally dressed than everyone else, also that with a mixture of my age probably helped I assume- I'm no suit guru! But I had a nice classic blue three piece and some grey checked ones, but that with a combination of ties and shirts gave me a new look everyday, using different tie patters and colours with different colour shirts- as you can usually find ties quite cheap, Hugo's advice really helped with this and I guess if you're passionate about it, it shows.

    I remember watching this video a year or so ago, and since then I’ve purchased suits from a few of these brands, I wanted to add that I just purchased two suits from Hawes and Curtis in the UK from their 1913 collection, they’re both Guabello fabric, one a super 120s wool and the other a cotton/linen blend although they do not specify the mill on the website when ordering the suit. Very nice fabric and construction, however as a US42R chest and 36 waist, they are a little snug as compared to Spier and MacKay, and SuitSupply in the same size. They were each in the $700-$800 range.

    First of all, thank you so much for being an enthusiast in a world of snobs.
    It is a joy to share your passion for the art and craftsmanship in the high end. But for me, my wallet, my priorities, and in the end my budget, this is actually a lot more useful. It is good to see that you are able to appreciate the good efforts that are made in price ranges well below anything you would buy for yourself.
    I would like to ask you to please explore reasonably prices made to measure. I tend not to get a good fit with ready to wear, being somewhat "rotund" (you've just got to love the english for their eufemisms). So, for those of us in need of personalized fit, but unable to afford bespoke. We would have good use for this.

      Thanks for taking time to reply, Hugo. Now, "corpulent" sounds a bit more honest to my ears, and I quite like that too. I'm in Norway, not a country of strong sartorial tradistions, but a country with a small and spread population, and high labour cost. Taking it up a notch from slight alterations of ready to wear would be nice.
      The best advise would presumably be vacation related or internet based.

    What a fantastic episode! I have always been very cautious of Suit Supply. I'm always cautious when a brand advertises so much. But another influencer also told me recently "For OTR, it's the best quality". By accident, I walked by the Suit Supply store in NYC and walked in. I was very impressed. The quality seemed pretty good. The service was excellent.
    With Spier and Mackay... Also curious about the quality. I've seen some influencers where some things and they looked good. I LOVE their peacoat and will probably add one or two for next Fall. The pricing seems good and you can even make some customizations.

    if I recall correctly, my best friend had his suit made by "indochino" - it fit very well on him so I cannot really say anything negative there. Everybody has to start somewhere - you cannot just expect somebody who is getting started to drop several thousand dollars on bespoke.
    Would it be fair to say that bespoke suits are like wearing black suits? You shouldn't buy a black suit until you know a little about what you want in your style, just as you shouldn't get a bespoke suit until you know your taste in fashion

    Great video, really informative from a man who knows what he is talking about. I found your channel while looking at real men real styles channel, and you guys have me thinking that i should go up a notch in the style department, this from a guy who never wears a suit, so i thought i would try to get use to wearing jackets first, or use a suit jacket as a type of blazer, just to get use to the feel of one. I usually wear a pair of chinos and a button shirt and trainers for footwear, so i thought where to look to find inexpensive suits, so i could make use of just the jacket for now. I found some great deals on Ebay, Preworn shops and individual sellers, made sure of my measurements first, and ordered a few, 5 suits to be exact, all for 150 Euro. And low and behold they were all a perfect fit, well to me anyway they seem fine, 2 navy suits, a grey suit, and 2 brown, and each of the jackets seem to compliment my different colour chinos. i already had a pair of doc martens shoes, without the yellow stitching, and i feel i could wear the jackets most days, i even found a nice pair of brown brogues that go with all the mix and matching in my jackets and chinos, as well as moleskin trousers, the brogues, from Samuel Windsor, again at a good price.
    None of these items will break the bank if i hated wearing them, and never wore them again, but, i love the way they feel, now it is just getting use to wearing them, i wish i had done this years ago, just by adding a nice well fitting jacket to my usual attire, and the pair of brogues rather than trainers every day, has made me feel more confident. One of the suits is a Jaegar mayfair, and to me it feels like good quality, that was 50 euro, i will keep that jacket and trousers as one outfit, in case i need a suit in a hurry, the trousers from the others will work well as summer trousers with most of my shirts, so i will get good use out of everything i bought. And when i finally get use to wearing these, i can see myself buying a suit from piniparma. I leaned from you guys, that style and feeling good about yourself, seem to go together, and its never too late to change. One question i have, with a jacket and complimenting trousers, is it OK to wear a white or suede pair of Nike Air Force Ones, to me they look great, and feel good. Your opinion Hugo would be welcomed.
