My Endlers like to “surf” on the current from my HoB filter. They swim in from the side, ride the current across the tank, then do it again. It is hilarious to watch.
My sparkling gouramis do that on the bubble current from a sponge filter! It's hilarious they ride to the surface and then jump out swim back down to the bottom and ride the bubbles up again!
My bettas have adored my red cherry shrimp. They watch the shrimp antics, but don't eat them. Bettas are the most intelligent fish (OK, that's not saying a lot) and they like the diversion. Occasionally, a larger shrimp will decide to "face off" with a beta, and the fish just stares like "I can squash you like the bug you are." Can fish laugh?
Oh you’re so lucky! I named my beta grinch as he has killed everything I tried having with him except for my snails! He made me want to upgrade his tank to a planted tank because he was nipping his fins. I said you know what your tank is plain and boring and I went all out. I am learning along the way with plants and now all of a sudden earlier this week I found isopods and such in my tank and first thing CZcams said is it’s a sign my tank is doing great. I am so thrilled about this and my betas tail grew back nicely and doing amazing now. And now I’m just starting up a 20 gal and looking for micro fish ideas and just fill it up with a heavily planted nice piece of wood decor and just enjoy the tank.
I have quite a few you mentioned and love them. In my 29 nano fish tank I have green neons along with my embers, dwarf emerald rasbora's pygmy cories and otocinclus. I have 80 neons in my community tank with honeys, opal , touquise and a few other rainbows. Makes for beautiful colors in both of my tanks. Great videos. Merry Christmas to you guys.
I’m a huge fan of Endlers Livebearers myself. They’re so active in a tank and the males have so many different beautiful colors throughout their bodies while staying quite small
Have a 5 ft definitely-not-a-nano tank full of nano fishes. Cardinal tetra Gold white mountain cloud minnow Hockey tetra Corydoras Endlers Otocincluses Shrimps And the star of the show, a Betta
While these fish can go in smaller tanks, I highly recommend a 40 breeder with small fish for anyone with the space. It's not necessary for sure, but they are a relatively affordable tank that anyone can get into, while at the same time, having lots of space when stocked with small fish. I've got a densely planted 40B with loads of yellow tiger endlers, blue dream neocaridina, three reticulated hillstream loaches, otocinclus, orange rams horn snails, and Malaysian trumpet snails. It's such a wonderful tank! Always something to look at, and tons of life and activity. I filter it with a large marineland hang on back (also very affordable) that's loaded with sponge and ceramic bio media and has a large prefilter sponge, all from aquarium co-op.

I’m so glad to see Endlers on the list on their own, rather than grouped under “guppies”! I have Endlers and think they are wonderful. I also don’t think they get as much love or mention as they deserve!
I’ve recently turned my 6ft 90 gallon into a nano fish aquarium and like all of the fish you’ve shown in this video. I have a school of 25 harlequin rasbora and 7 pygmy corys so far along with 19 cherry barbs being the latest addition. I’d like to say that the cherry barbs have become a fast favorite. They look great in my planted aquarium and have really fired up since adding them. If the video went to 11 I’d add them to the list. Great video
I don't agree with the honey gouramis. I have one in a 29 gallon and he isn't a small fish. And he is very active. I think 20 gallons minimum for honeys. However, I think I've seen people keep sparkling gouramis in nano tanks. I think those would be better for nano tanks than honeys would.
I hit the petstores just as they opened for the first time after being closed for a long time from the covid related city shut-down. I meant to get a few more blue neon tetras to add to my tank, but the only ones they had in stock were very small and young borderline fry. So I ended up taking home what turned out to be two mystery fish and two blue neon tetras. After they grew up I figured out that they were white cloud mountain minnows, and they have since become my favorite nanos. Their personalities are off the charts and they are just as pretty as the neon tetras.

But n I was thinking of adding some neon or cardinal tetras too, but I am not sure if there is enough space. I was thinking of maybe 3 guppies, some shrimp to clean the aquarium better. But I don't know if I should put like 4-6 tetras, or if I could just put 2-3,since I also have guppies. I know they are scholling fish, this is why I am not sure. Any suggestions, tips and ideas would be great. Thanks 😊🐟
guppies are a fairly heavy bioload for their size (high metabolism little guys!) - & the general rule of thumb is one inch of fish for one gallon. I wouldn't add anything except maybe a nerite or apple snail?
Would have loved to know what a nano tank is - is it 5gallon? 8 gallon? Also, how many fish of each? I'm thinking of getting 5-6 neon tetras (and no other fish) for an 8 gallon aquarium Is that too many?
I have a 10 gallon, planted with neon green tetras. They look awesome! They are now one of my favorites. I'm thinking about adding like 4 pygmy corys. Not sure if that would be too many fish or not. That was a really good list. Do u know the name of the endlers u showed with the orange and green on them?
I'd take Chili Rasboras over Harlequin. I think they're a little smaller (nano) and bright red, beautiful coloring. They are number one on my list. Also, if we're going "nano", I'd have said Pygmy Corydoras, instead of just any Corydora. They are much smaller and ideal for a little 10 gallon nano tank. In fact, if you had a small school of both Chilis and Pygmy Cory's, you could probably even push it to a 5 gallon tank.
Guys!! I took all my Celestial Pearl Danios out of my shrimp tank so the shrimp will breed. When I just went to check on the shrimp, I found CPD FRY!!! I'm so excited! But they are SOOO tiny. What would you feed them?? And anything special you would do to help them survive??
@@MarvelousGap hi. When I found them I was so surprised, and they were so tiny! I ground up flake food till it was like a powder, and fed them that. I fed 3 times a day so they would have enough food to grow. When they got a little bigger, I switched one of the feedings to frozen baby brine shrimp. They thrived with that plan. I just added them to one of my bigger tanks today. They're almost full grown now!!
I have a 29G nano tank, none but the pepper cories & kuhli loach are longer than an inch. A bigger tank makes for much more activity and interaction between the fish and the environment.
Nice video! Really surprised chili rasboras weren't on the list they are the perfect nano fish. I agree with most of the choices except for the neon/cardinal tetras they get quite a bit bigger than your typical nano fish and really shouldn't be kept in a nano aquarium if you have an appropriate sized school IMO.
OMG!!!!!! That white Beta at the end! love him soooooo much. I have 4 so dont need anymore in an apt but, Well maybe i could put him in the kitchen or on the coffee table. Hummmmmm

I haven't seen a snail eat a shrimp, but I've talked to others who say the snails will gladly eat a molting shrimp if they happen upon them. Hello love the information you guys give out. To much bad stuff out there. Had a quick question. I kept Electric Yellows for years in a 125 gal tank. Keep up with the filter and water changes and had no problems. Recently started dialysis and moving to a senior/disability community of apartments alone. I am able to get pets approved and have already eliminated a dog because I just don't think I can care for it properly. A cat has crossed my mind as well but a small aquarium could be the answer. I'm talking probably 15gal on less. I've always been fond of neons and white clouds...etc. But my question is a 15 gal or less a home that is good for these types of fish. I know they tend to school. I also know not to overcrowd. Any ideas or links to prior videos you can recommend?
Bettas are highly territorial. If they are the only thing in the tank they'll be very aggressive with new "intruders". However if you add a betta (preferably the less aggressive females) to an established community tank, they will not consider themselves the alpha boss and will be chill.
So I got a 3 gallon nano tank for shrimp/frogs and wanted it planted. So I bought plants online and in a local store and ended up with all these baby fish I didn’t know what they were. 3 goldfish and a white cloud ( a few fry died) so I got a ten gallon to grow out goldfish till they got bigger and could go out in my 300 gallon “pond” where my original “fair “goldfish and plant “ bonus” goldfish live. So then I got 3 (1 died) white clouds to keep company. Duh! Now my goldfish are getting big enough where they NEED to go to pond ( dirty buggars I can’t keep parameters) and I have these 3 white clouds. So I’m thinking shrimp and some more white clouds and some pearl danios or guppies for 10 gallon with a few shrimp? But then I saw cories and I thought what about 3-4 corries (small) and 2-3 more white clouds as one is a bully and the other 2 have to hide too much, and some shrimp? Too much? The tank has done well with goldfish and plants have survived and growing like crazy so I’m hoping that’s not too much? Help!
Hi guy's, just a quick question from good old Britain. Have you had any furcata Gertrude fork tail rainbow fish or blue eye.I 💙 them especially when the males go head to head. Usually no damage but they put on an excellent display. Please if possible a response would be appreciated. They are also in a small tank (17gallons) with my black Orchid male Betta. NO PROBLEMS thank you. ALL your shows are full of very good info for all us fish keepers. Thank You Caz

You guys are so entertaining to watch and give such great information! Best fish channel on YT:)
I just got a big bowl to fill with water and put some plants in, and my bf was like oh, is that for your fish? No silly! Lol
I like the nano tank ,for the little salmon looking one!!!!
Hi John and Lisa I was fascinated watching some of your videos helpful for newbie like me 💐
Hey Jon and Lisa
I have a 6.7 gallon cube with a betta and I was thinking of putting some neon or cardinal tetras
Bettas are highly territorial. If they are the only thing in the tank they'll be very aggressive with new "intruders". However if you add a betta (preferably the less aggressive females) to an established community tank, they will not consider themselves the alpha boss and will be chill.
@@Leib33 I put 1 Female and some snails
Should be spelled "course" , not "coarse"
I got 3 albino corycats and I love them
Yay, Bettas number ☝️ one!
Help!
Endlers are great!!!
Kinda hard to find. Never can be sure if you're getting Pure Strain usually you find K type.
I agree, the cory cats are soooo cute!! The albino ones are even cuter.
Have a 10 gallon tank with 3 Ember Tetras 3 Black Neon Tetras and 3 Pristella Tetras
I have a school of 30 rummy nose tetras and 20 cardinal tetras. 4 angel fish 10 albino corys and a crying whip tail plec . My tank looks awesome.
Informative video 👍
Hi guy's, just a quick question from good old Britain. Have you had any furcata Gertrude fork tail rainbow fish or blue eye.I 💙 them especially when the males go head to head. Usually no damage but they put on an excellent display. Please if possible a response would be appreciated. They are also in a small tank (17gallons) with my black Orchid male Betta. NO PROBLEMS thank you. ALL your shows are full of very good info for all us fish keepers. Thank You
Caz
As a pond guy I think my 55 gal inside tank is a nano tank. 😁
Lol so true 😂
Pygmy sunfish go well in a nano tank too.
