    Jonn regis was probably our best overall sprinter back then. 100, 200 and 400

      Regis was a stud!! I always thought he was just a "4th runner" trying to hold his own. 43.9 is good enough to be a star on any relay team. Incredible! Especially for someone who looks like he plays middle linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys.

    "The West Germans not out of the picture yet either"... Was the commentator watching the same race as I was? By the last 100 metres, the West Germans were most certainly out of the picture, metaphorically speaking, and almost literally in the TV picture.

    When the commentators would talk bad about regis "not being a 400m runner, called a comparative novice, inexperienced etc" and regis was a tank stepped up and would run mid 43- low 44's. Really makes the commentators look like real assholes.
