They put a whole lot of attention to detail to Ana's expressions. She doesn't do much but you immediately get that motherly feel with how she looks at the camera.
A big think about the OW1 animations is that they are for the most part "complete" after a second, making it easy to just scroll through the cast fast and get an easy read on every character. You're not meant to linger on this screen for too long.
I think most of these are short enough for that too- exept wrecking ball- his feels way too long they should shorten the time he's angry and have him lean back sooner
The Widowmaker animation is a testament to how good the art direction is in OW. It's subtle, but the expression on her face is so conflicted and sad. Makes you feel sorry for her, which is right in line with her backstory.
They just shifted her position and camera angle so they stop focusing on her body figure. The game is moving away from sexy, especially since their sexual assault lawsuit. Notice that all 3 new characters are strong women who fight.
I would so love customization for the hero select animations. I don’t care if only I see it, I want to be able to have everyone have a awesome select animation eventually.
The Sombra OW1 animation is actually way better. I really like her facial expressions when she ponders, hacks the shape, then thinks a bit and then her facial expression changes to her smirk which all, are expressions that totally fit Sombra.
I’m trying to look at this from a new player perspective. There’s really no game like OW with a hero variety like this. They’re all so unique and well done. I’m so excited for new players
I honestly prefered Moira's old animation. The content smile, looking at her work, her own addition to the progress of science. Then she looks at you... and her smile fades. It's just perfect compared to the new deranged personality her new animation suggests.
The new animations are just so off. They don't even fit the characters if u actually know their lore. Sigma's entire personality and story is just gone
I think that's on purpose, the new one goes well with her new design with the corrupted arm, seems like she's more agressive now and is totally used to her crazy science, in the previous one she was still figuring it out

The others fit their personality.
We have a very different taste , but I can understand your pattern. Even if Sigma is more cinematic in OW2, he had the melody in ow1 and mostly, I LOVE when you wait a lot on his selection screen, his sight seems totally lost for 2 sec, then he get back and it is totally on a different level for me
I actually prefer Junkrat's old animation - not shown in the video, but after a bit he gets distracted by a thought, pondering for a bit before laughing silently to himself. It was a nice touch that sadly wasn't covered.
These are SO GOOD, like holy shit. It's good to be reminded that incredibly talented and passionate people are working on this game and that it's not just all corporate bumbling

If I understand, the new Winston is actually hello for ASL between the face and the way the hand itself is posed and moved, so also a reference to the whole "gorillas can use sign language" thing
These look so good and have so much personality for something so minor. That's the kind of detail that I love from this game. Orisa, Bastion, Hanzo, Junkrat, Sombra, Sym, Ana, Moira, and Zen are my favorites.
Absolutely love everything new, but especially how the game looks. The lighting, shadows, skin tones of the characters. They somehow feel more unique and special. Ashe is definitely my favorite.
I know the scatter arrow has been gone for a while but i kinda liked how it was still in his hero select screen. I saw it as a little easter egg for those who remember.
They probably did the new select animation because it is the first type of play of the game animation, so most of them probably was aimed in this, and is a good detail because the first type of PoG is just the hero select animation in Ow1, and since in Ow1 was really basic compared to the other animations when a hero showed it felt strange in the middle of that other cool PoG animations

I feel like Ashe's new animation was the perfect balance for character and personality without a load of movement or unnecessary detail.

Something worth mentioning is in the second beta, when Junkrat had his OW2 skin and used the old intro, his eyes would be more crossed than... usual. It was beautiful.
I love all these new interactions. Also the new lines when you spawn / respawn. To be honest, all this stuff makes me so happy. All this gets overlooked but its these things that give the character so much personality.
My new favorite has to be Orisa. In her new dialogues we see she’s retained her curious and giggling personality but has also became a jaded warrior who’s down and serious about protecting Numbami, and they perfectly mold that in her character intro. And the spear animation is just so damn cool
I am a zookeeper in chicago and I regularly feed the hippos day old sausages so they have a taste of their home. I put strings on the sausages and swing them around the hippos they get so mad at me and scream but it's an obsession sometimes the hippos try and break out of their cages but I keep swinging those hotdogs in wide circles over their heads. Luckily my boss doesn't know I do this or my coworkers
Only if there's some sort of big update to the game. If that was something they were going to do, it would have happened already. The character select in general is just bland looking and too similar to Overwatch, but at least they changed the animations, it helps.
