I realized this because i saw Thierry Henry talk about it as the goal that made him realize messi is "not normal." Messi nudges the ball to the left with the outside of the left foot to avoid challenge from his right, takes one step with his right, then uses the inside of his left to tap the ball back to the right (and away frol challenge from left), then finishes with his right (non-dominant leg) with a rocket in the right corner, all at top speed. he basically passes the ball from his left foot TO his left foot. The best defender in history is probably Maldini or Baresi, the best of the Modern era, 2010- present day, is probably Thiago Silva and one who is very underrated because he never played in Europe, but he played in incredible world cups, especially in 98, it was Gamarra; They are all 10/10 in the defense aspect, but I believe it is worth mentioning some with special attributes, such as Otamendi in the aerial game, especially in defense, Koeman scored a lot of goals and Rafa Marquez who had a lot of technique and skills. I believe that Hincapie is an active defender with good marking and extremely technical.
I would argue that Sergio Ramos might be the best defender of his generation over Thiago Silva, and Virgil Van Dijk may come close to those 2 as well
@@JamiesonHilton Sergio Ramos is very good in the offensive aerial game, but defending he is not so good. With VAR his game became inefficient, just yesterday he received another red card. Van Dijk is probably number 2.
