I never understood why nfs rivals was so hated. It seemed like a fun concept of playing as a racer or a cop with power ups on both ends and beautiful terrain most of the time
Customization mainly , after NFS mw , people loved being able to customize cars and stuff which set standards on the franchise, so when that was removed , it just created a wave of hate which carried over since 2010 , if there are other reasons then idk , for me personally I enjoyed every NFS for what it was minus shifts , undercover (PS3 version) and unbound at launch, the rest were good or fine , oh ye one exception , I still can't forget NFS 2015's bad handling but the customization and Street vibes were good , so that's that
I hated rivals more because of the multiplayer. Majority of my leads were destroyed because of the interference from other races. Cop mode was the best!
@@kingpin201 don't forget that you didn't even have to play the game itself to interfere - logging into the website allowed you to log into a live game and help or hinder other players by refilling or deleting their nitro or calling in backup or roadblocks...

@@GRIMEYtheFATMAN - and that’s why I hated that online feature (on the race car side, at least). If I did play, it was only cop mode. If there was interference, it was more in my favor vs. playing from the other side!

Payback has literally the most consistent driving physics out of all of the games.
Gameplay: Besides the Slot Machine upgrading system. Great! (To me, at least)
Story: Okay, but Tyler was the main downfall of it all
Location: Good, but racing in the desert did make it annoying.
Cops: None, only excitement is with the junk grabs. Compliments of the House.

@@Threelapz - it’s the dumbest upgrade system ever made! Makes the game feel like a fake real life simulation of Mario Kart! The slots fail you more than power you up!
Oh, and make sure you have 3 of the same upgrade card for two group of upgrades! I usually had 3 orange and 3 pink for the upgrade slots. If they were off-roaders, 3 green or red instead of the pink(3 or more of the same card gave you a performance boast depending on the cards). One upgrades your cars performance (Outlaw, orange), the reds does jump (since your in desert), green does suspension and handling (I believe, drift or crossover), and pink is for Nos. I could be wrong, I haven’t played this in a while and could never get my controller or wheel to work right for this game on my pc! And you missed out on the free cars they were giving out during the time EA was supporting the game!
One BIG warning ( I forgot to put on yesterday): for Off-road or SpeedX - or better yet anything in this game…. Keep the Ford Raptor OFF YOUR GARAGE LIST!!! IT’S A WORTHLESS PIECE OF TRASH MACHINERY FOR BOTH PAYBACK AND HEAT!!!! NOT EVEN WORTH UPGRADING FOR THE SAKE OF LOOKING PRETTY!!!! The Defender whoops both off-roader trucks with barely any effort!

The mutilplayer scene is popping though and very very much alive. There's a whole world to this game behind the scenes. The handling is A1 too that's way some of us still play it years later

Another funny thing is that they marketed the M5 with Payback and viceversa. The M5 is actually on of the best all around cars in the game
Yes, the action camera was first introduced at NFS 2015 and was created to provide a cinematic impression in gameplay and at the same time strengthen the sense of speed of the game.
Unfortunately the bad reaction came to the feature and EA immediately confirmed that the action camera could be turned off and can switched to near camera.
As someone who used to be hyper competitive in Payback. Here is a good trick. Play with manual transmission rather than auto.
When drifting through a corner downshift to what ever the favored gear of your car is (usually 2nd or 3rd) and you will get crazy acceleration out of the corner (more than Automatic will allow). Not all cars get this benefit as they can have shit gearing. Things like the RSR, 302 mustang, Pagani, and such have great gears for doing it.
Drifting is also way faster than trying to grip, the under-steer is way too aggressive.

Have you tried to upgrade your car, mate? This is the source of the well-deserved hatred the game has received. The criticism has worked because slots machine car parts stores are absent from new NFS games. NFS Pay(your cassino)back is a good game idea wasted by publisher meddling.

Drag racing was pretty good in payback. Specially online against other drivers in the airport.

The multi-player of most wanted 2012 was so good, you should try it
To me NFS MW 2012 will always be the worst one in the series. It was so generic and bland. Only good aspect was multiplayer.
With Payback they aimed for their own take on F&F with over-the-top moments with crew and I loved that approach.
They should've named it something else not most wanted

2012 NFS was a great game, along with Rivals. Both were enjoyed throughly by a large majority of the NFS community

personally I think payback was pretty good for the time it was released and I especially enjoyed the DLC with Mac doing speedcross. but other than that I'm loving the content and would enjoy you doing payback and maybe some other content in the game I think you might enjoy
I actually really appreciate what they tried with the story stuff in Payback. It’s not perfect, but it’s easily more imaginative and interesting than Unbound and Heat
Rivals was the first console video game I ever played.
I just bought it and started it too, I actually really enjoy it. I do think heat has the best drifting still and idk why they changed it for whatever that new one is
Most favorite NFS game, must be because I rather like games where you know who you are playing than a no name. Also the difficulty fit very well for me as a newbie. The tests were the most painful part for me (was going for platinum). Improved my driving skills so much, it made grinding to crew lvl 50 in Heat a lot easier.

ive played 4 nfs games before, payback, hot pursuit, heat, and unbound. out of those 4 this game was my second fav after hot pursuit. idk i just liked it.
The Subaru BRZ in this Game is the Best thing to drift when you use on automatic transmission and If you start with the S2000 It's a good Starter car It's balance for racing and drifting but today I have two Subaru BRZ's they are very peaky to me I got used to it the reason I bought the BRZ because It reminded me the GT86 model So I sell my S2000 that has 202 HP Swapping it with a Circuit racing BRZ I tuned it to 189 HP If you wanna drift here's some tips :
1. less Power = More control
2. less power = higher Rpm while drifting
3. while drifting. brake lightly increasing your drift angle
4. brake Lightly if you want to turn while drifting
5. Uphill drifting is the best thing to do you'll get high points
6. Pick any cars on drift dealership that you are used to it except you're using a Drift machine rather than Circuit/Drag/chase cars
7. don't use any FWD car on drifting it's Weak
8. Turn sensitivity you can adjust it

in all honsetly...this game is a fucking gem..its only the upgrades which feels like shitty gambling that ruins it if that wasnt a thing it would be amazing
The reason why peole say that "NFS payback is one of the worst NFS games ever" is because of the upgrade system. I mean, slot machines. In all reality, it nakes sense.
Silver rock is based on the area between nevada & california. Nevada has las vegas, and what do you think of when it comes to las vegas? Exactly. Gambling.
Payback's story is also very deep. The message underneath the cringe lines and huge crashes us "Never gamble" which is *quite* ironic.
The car list is decent. With a good mix of tuners and supercars. The starter selection being really balanced. A buick, Golf GTI and a honda S2K. And when is a better time to replay payback than now! With 1.67 million bank, 600 speed cards, loads of vanities and eddies skyline, all from the start, whats not to love?
I feel like its about time that *payback* gets the love it deserves after all these years.

To be honest if they had a different title for Most Wanted 2012 it would have been a lot better because it had very very solid multiplayer

Honestly this game has a lot of good and bad about it!
Good- offroad handling is the best in the franchise tied with NFS Heat; Jess' missions were easily the best and most exciting; good car list with variety of different builds and each car suited to each; DRAG RACING; good music and good customization; drifting really good but defo WAYY too easy; bets and objectives before the race start were a great idea; natural day and night cycle was good and game looked really good and a great map
Bad- Story was cool but mid execution and seriously cringe; the cutaways of people getting in the car SO SLOW despite the emergency of mission is so weird; upgrade system is by far the worst in the series; characters were so cookie cutter par the Broker, the radio host, Jess and Mac; the cops and house cars are weaker than a piece of paper and no cops in free roam was such a disappointment; no online feature from game launch was a terrible decision and the AI was either too dominant on one track or slow as a granny on the stairs
Overall: 7.5/10
A definite step up from MW 2012 and 2015 in my opinion, but defo not better than Hot Pursuit, Heat and Unbound.

This game is dope. The story is fun and the offroading is the best in NFS ever. Luckily I play on PC so I can mod the upgrade system, love the game otherwise although it feels so empty since the online mode sucks really bad

brother, keep knowing the fact that the remaster of nfs hot pursuit has cars that got removed. while the OG from 2010 HAS these cars...
the game aside from the upgrade system was petty good. However that being said it was heavy laden with developer laziness all over the place. The story could have been much much better and much deeper. They left so much on the table tbh. The cop chases would have been more fun nfsmw 05 style. The map is vast I can imagine those endless cop chases all over the place with so many challenges to deal with. Then there's the worst kind of laziness, the playable character cars. Was it so damn hard for them to replace the M5 and bel air in the closing cutscenes with the cars that I actually used in the game. Once you look past all that it's a decent game yes. But they need to script better stories. A set back or two wouldn't have hurt anyone.

I enjoyed payback... Most Wanted 2012 was garbage IMO, I couldn't even force myself to play through it, k owing how greaf MW 2005 was.
Payback just had the slot machine style upgrade system which was annoying but if you love cars and enjoyed a storyline it was not bad.
Great graphics, decent car selection, and a lot to do.
The drift handling was not my favorite, and took some getting used to, but I loved this game..

ngl I think this game is too overhated, slot machine upgrade, sum questionable voice acting, visual upgrades require to do some work, and no cops freeroam is pretty much cons to it
but otherwise, I actually had a fun time in payback, after getting all visual things unlock, visual upgrades are fun being able to mix-match bodykits, also drifting in this game felt so fun, reminded me of carbon's style of drifting and I like it. The story is cringe but to me it has it charm and its playable because of it.
Also people tend to complain that it sucks that cops only appear on missions and I agree, but some of these runner missions are pretty tough, due to the fact that their laid out by the devs to be competitive so its pretty fun for me, feels like hot pursuit 2010 in some sort of way

The game itself is ok, its a fun time. The handling model felt fine, its looks good, the story was whatever the characters were kinda cringe but that is standard now. The multiplayer was popping with a full ranked system and everything, plagued with terrible Regera drivers for sure but still fun. Building a car MADE FOR COP SMASHING was really a great idea and not taken advantage of imo. The off road races were actually awesome, maybe some of the best, really good elevation changes and cool canyon type stuff. The problem is the upgrade system and the micro transactions that happened as a result, and rightly so. Would i say dont play it? Of course not, youll probably have a great time.

theres alot of things wrong with this game i enjoyed it from time to time but the nail in the coffin was definitely the 399 update back in june(?) 2018 that ruined the performance of 299 capped cars when you upgraded them past 299 most of them turning into boat on wheels or tanks (in terms of handling) now i know alot of people did not care cause they would just play the freeroam mode and drag race up and down the air strip all day.
