  • I'm already excited for hunting season and it is never too early to get your gear ready to go! I have added a Ascend H12 to my fleet now and it will be my main hunting kayak to use for small waters and our local rivers. I set it up with a Northern Flight Kayak blind and will add a few more accessories as we get closer to season and you all will be seeing some upcoming videos putting this ultimate hunting rig to the test! This is also a how to on setting up the northern flight kayak blind on the Ascend H12 kayak. I hope this video is helpful to you all and thank you for watching!

    Do you think this would fit an old town top water 120? A response would help so much! Been looking everywhere for an answer and can’t find anything!

      @@loganredepenning9315 I am pretty sure I seen either on Facebook or on google searches that it did with little modifications. If I can find it again I’ll mention it on here.

      @@loganredepenning9315 check out Josh’s channel Outdoor Limits he uses the top water 120 with a northern flight blind. I knew I seen it and he has a few videos of it I believe but the video I just remembered and found is titled “what kayak is better for duck hunting” he does explain his issues with it which I can suggest a possible easy fix if you would like.

    Have you decided on a layout seat yet? I don't recommend the Ascend seat. The blind comes with a "layout seat" which is more like a drop cloth lol. If you have a Mo Marsh layout, that will probably work better. I bought a 4 Rivers BAR seat for mine last year and thats a nice improvement

      I have the momarsh seat still from my unlimited but I think they must’ve updated the northern flight seat cause the one I got was like 2” thick memory foam.

      @@trevorrandlesoutdoorsiowa ya i have the momarsh seat as well. Added some closed cell insulation foam to make it level underneath and for the dog area in the back. Working on the dog blind mod right now, and gonna put some camo hydro turf on yhe flat spots for grip

      @@user-ud6jn4qb4u I had the same idea for the closed cell foam in the side channels to make the seating area level. It feels so weird when the tunnel hull bends down from the weight. Other than that it paddles great. Kind of awkward getting in and out but I’ll figure it out after a few trips.

    Great video. Only comment is many states say that if if your using a motor your motor has to be off and all motion stopped before shooting. Just a heads up in case you hunt where the wardens are glassing.

      Yep Iowa has that law here as well. I forgot to mention that cause same rule applies to boats as well or anything with a motor.

    You think there’s enough extra room for it to fit the ascend 128T?

    • @trevorrandlesoutdoorsiowa
      @trevorrandlesoutdoorsiowa  Před 3 měsíci

      It may take some modification because of the shape but if you’re willing to make it work I almost bet it will. I’ve seen some mount it on a nucanoe unlimited which is 12’ 6” long and 41” wide with a small amount of modification. I hope this helps.

    Is the rear D ring suppose to be loose? The screw only had about 1/4 of thread. And there’s about 3/16 of play on the screw

      Mine was the same as well. I’m assuming it was that way by design but I couldn’t tell why unless it’s universal bolt for the 12t kayak as well.

    Great video. Any idea if that blind would fit on a frontier12? I was considering it an option instead of spending $350 for the Nucanoe one.

    • @trevorrandlesoutdoorsiowa
      @trevorrandlesoutdoorsiowa  Před rokem +1

      If your on Facebook check out the nucanoe pages I know I’ve seen a couple guys modify the blind frame for the frontier 12 and the unlimited. The doors are a huge improvement over the nucanoe blinds and the ability to roll the blind up for travel is a nice addition.

      Just finished putting it on Unlimited. Had to cut frame to narrow it a bit and bend the bracket that bolts to the track at 90 degrees. Few mods and it fits nicely

    • @trevorrandlesoutdoorsiowa

      It’s quite stable actually but that was paddling it with the layout seat in it as well. I think the normal seat would work as good too. It’s a bit different sitting inside it and how it has the channels down the sides where your feet go but that’s what makes it so stable.

      I have had mine for 4 years. I Absolutely love mine. When I have the blind in it, I sit up on my knees when I paddle it.
