I am no relation to the great man but have enjoyed seeing my family name on his very exciting machinery, especially when Barney Kennett rode one I believe sponsored by Watling tyres. The vision of Steve Weatherly & my super hero on the swimming pool bend is a treasure.
@@darringodden7225 Steve Wetherly was a cracking rider, remember him well, sadly he had his awful accident with Vic Harding in the late 70's which put him in a wheelchair. I was a Weymouth Speedway fan who watched Vic blast round Radipole Lane regularly. Vic lost his life in the same crash, very sad.
Sadly its a housing estate now. I moved to MK in 2002, about 20 minutes walk from the Groveway (& also about the same from Elfield Park). Sadly, speedway has not returned. I was a regular at Mildenhall in the late 70's/early 80s & this was 1979 when Mildenhall were NL champions. I was only 6 at the time so do not remember it very well.
Excellent Vids Martyn do you have any of the Workington Comets at Home from the 1970's my Brother rode for them during the early days up to the early 80's and my Dad was Pits Manager
