    I've had mine for almost two years now. A great SACD/CD player and one of few products that play Amazon Music HD natively. I'm thrilled with it.... I do have a Denafrips Ares2 external DAC just for kicks and it's a better DAC but not by much (to my ears)... I wonder why the SACD30n does not get much attention from the main stream professional reviewers whereas the Model30 amp got a ton of attention.

    What was your impression in comparing the Auralic streaming versus the Marantz playing CD/SACD? Wondering if it's better sound wise to have a collections of CD's and stream only sometimes (Marantz) or if streaming exclusively through the Auralic is good enough and would be a good choice. Thanks.

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před 3 lety +2

      Its a sort of apples and oranges comparison in a lot of ways, I wouldnt say either was better or worse than the other, just slightly different and more of a personal preference situation that a critical listening one. If you already have a very large collection of CDs and plan on collecting more in the future than the Marantz is the way to go, it sounds absolutely outstanding in that context, but if your going to be streaming more than anything then definitely the Aualic is the better option.

      @@living_entertainment Something that is overlooked at times, is the nature of physical media. I think things like vinyl and Cd's have a social aspect. Remember hanging out at the record store or sitting on the lounge room floor with your friends listening to tracks. Physical media tends to be more social and interactive. Like you said in regards to sound, it really is apples and oranges and the question becomes what is your expectation from streaming, and what are your expectations from physical media. One last thing that I find, is that people just getting into streaming equate it with bluetooth streaming to their headphone.... which is another kettle of confusion!

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před 3 lety +2

      @@PastorHinChrist I definitely think the social aspects (and the perceived impact on sound quality that can have) of physical media are grossly underappreciated and talked about in the audiophile community.

      @@living_entertainment Streaming you truly never OWN ANYTHING! I stream for new things that if really good go into my physical library of cd etc, but mainly cd. I have tons and tons of rare gold disc audiophile discs since collecting them in the 90s. Plus a ton of SACD DVD A, BLUE RAY MUSIC AND DTS MUSIC DISC FOR HIGH RES surround music as well. Does this player even play and SACD in surround via HDMI? Not a deal breaker for many but it is for me. And no XLR balanced outs? For that cost? NOPE! I am an audiophile first and also really enjoy multi ch music. So much so I use true full range speakers for all channels. I do realize that is extremely rare but if anybody heard a properly set up multi ch audiophile set up they would understand after just one track played.

    Aimed to enter liquid music world, I starteld with a 6006n than I purchase this SACD 30n bothh for the aspected improvemet and for its SACD/streamer integration. The improvement towards the 6006 has not been a big as the x7 price may suggest. Own for an year, than traded in for a NAIM NDX2. Dramatic improvement, almost no competition. Material: front is all plastic, nice looking from far, cheap when you touch it. Cd load: once press the eject botton, need to wait up to 15 seconds to have tray opened, c'm on....! Cd tray is full plastic, cheap feeling too. My conclusion: need a streamer? 6006 is enought, or spend more for the leap. Need SACD too? Go for a sony DVD player (for 300€ almost any of those can play SACDs) connect its digital out onto 6006 digital in and you are done with 1/3 of money and 90% of the 30n quality

      It sounds strange for sure, but the streamer and the cd player are two separate components, so while they share the same DAC the information is delivered to it differently and it does have an impact on the overall sound.
