@Yoshi actually, he was very far from judgemental about what people wore. he said more than once that the price of what you wear isn't the only standard. i don't want to misquote him so i will say that what i understood from what he said about that is that even if you aren't wearing expensive clothes, it's ok. just be neat and clean.

Love Lagerfeld the Character , the wit , so many aspects of his life , but legacy style wise, , there was a lot , quantity , Fendi , Chloé, Chanel and his own brand ( tho it never really took off , like his perfumes) work wise
so that's a minimum of 10 collections for 30 years if not more : quantity ...., then for the last 10 years just Fendy and Chanel , plus the book publisher , the photographer , plus countless collaborations H&M, Coke, and the exuberance , and tons of TV , tons of little shows on French TV , all over and always a great guest , fun , mean , realistic , really funny , a great guest ! and he was like a comic , same punch lines in French , German interviews , and he was not rare on TV ....same lines over and over "I don't work for the poor" , heard it like 20 times in 3 languages over and over he was like a comic , he was like a pro even in interviews ....a lot of interviews and the same content ....he is the PICASSO in terms of quantity , and sometimes in auction the only painting that wont sell are the Picasso ..so many of them ....a Picasso is expensive but not rare....
..... so quantity , tons of stuffs produced , and yet you can spot Mr Dior Style's, Balenciaga, Givenchy had a style too, all the codes created by Coco Chanel , and what every modern women wardrobe wears everyday YSL , Yves Saint Laurent and its style and real print on the modern woman's wardrobe, way of dressing , pieces that you see on the streets , pants ( before YSL no pants in couture) , Tuxedo, Trench , the jumper suit , the women suit , the pant suit , the see through clothe , animal print .....what they all copy right now , just like Tom Ford did for Gucci he was doing 70s YSL , and himself fan of Saint Laurent admitted his greatest influence as a young teenager : Saint Laurent ..... dressing the sixties , the sexual revolution, and making clothes for women , wearable clothes so they would feel comfortable and sexy ( did leather Jacket at the helm of Dior after his death at 21 , Dior leather Jacket in late 50s !!!! , Trapeze collection...revolution a Dior !!!) being the first Grand Couturier to have a Ready to Wear line with boutiques around the world ....again a real vision, a Style a vision that is timeless , pieces that are timeless ...
Now clothes wise Karl Lagerfeld , name me one item , beside his own personal way of dressing , Karl Himself , he was for sure doing fashion and a lot of it very fertile , but out 6 months later , there is fashion and style .......who would be caught wearing 80's Chloé?, 70's Fendi ?, Lagerfeld 's own label ??? Chanel 80s !!!!!!!!? ?? ( one things he was not good at were his sort movies with Geraldine Chaplin revolving around Chanel , they were laughable , the one thing he could not do , direct actors , and the stories wear just straight up lame, like bad !.)
Love love and will miss Karl , he cracked me up , he was talented , the Chanel sets for the past 10 years were making the head's lines ...not really the collections.....sure it was still quality , but the vision ?
we cannot forget his silhouette , the hair ,the powdered hair , the bow , the fan during the heavy years , skinny Karl , tons of rings , then no rings gloves , skinny Hedy Slimane suits at firsts , then off the racks just black ,cols montés black tie we.... we know all of his codes , but the legacy out of thousand of collections for women ?
So happy he found joy with Choupette , cats are so awesome , and she'll be well take care of......bye Karl and thanks for the years of fun and interest you provided and what you did for the image for Germany , even if you spent just enough time to reside in Monaco ( evade taxes eh eh eh), but yet manage to live and worked in Paris , can only do real Haute Couture in Paris because of all the suppliers that you had Chanel bought off to salvage them, save them , great job again there , thank you .
Thank you for years of extravaganza , interest and real fun punch lines and more ..... You will be miss . Auf wiedersehen !

You can tell he was starting to struggle to articulate speech by 2017 when this interview took place. In 2015 he was still clear and sharp. It must be So Hard knowing that you are slowly(but surely) Dying.. I should know, my Dad is now 92 and at times it is very painful watching it happen.

I hate it when interviewers constantly name-drop and try so hard to impress their guest with their (the interviewer's) own shit stories.
I don't care about you, do your job and interview your guest, that's the only person who's important

@@extender21 My impression of the major German cities like Köln, Berlin, Hamburg, etc. is that they all have a sharp edge, & a quick & often insensitive tongue, especially noticeable after an absence. You're actually wrong; he repeatedly said, he doesn't judge people on their clothes, cause a lot of people don't have the money or possibilities and a lot of people just aren't too interested or too bothered with how they dress. Just like you, he said it was stupid and ignorant to judge other people by what they wear.
