I remember when my dad was away in Kuwait for about a year and all we did was Skype . During the summer I was always with my grandparents(His parents) as I spent most of my childhood with His side of the family . One night we hear a knock at the door and my grandmother answers it and all I seen was my uncle walk in then my grandmother says there's someone here for you , at that time I thought it was my mom or something coming to bring me more clothes . As soon as I got up from the living room to go to the dayroom there I see my dad !!! Arms wide !! All I could do was cry and I promise you I never held him so tight I was stuck all up under him lol

I’ll never forget seeing him standing there, proud and so happy. That was 30 yrs ago and every tour from then on out, my dad was right there at the airport when I came home!

They worry ever single day that their child is safe wherever he/she is and they pray they won't get that knock on the door. It's tough!
