I love the honesty people had back then, especially in the rock and metal scene. People didn't try to answer questions with witty, cliche, generic responses for social media attention. They just spoke their mind and answered with the way they truly felt. Peter Steele was such an interesting person who struggled all his life with depression and his confliction with his own personal beliefs in religion. I hope he finally found peace in his last moments on earth and if there is an afterlife, I hope he's happy. He is sorely missed.
He found Jesus and he was searching, you could here it in his words here. God can be in the Church, but God is not the Church, the Church is sinful people, it is hard to believe in sinful people!

Definitely one of the best interviews ever recorede with Peter Steele. Both sarcastic and straight-edged, while at the same time serious as fuck. You'll be missed forever.
@James Williams I got to see them at blue cats in Knoxville in October of 2008, and met Johnny as well. He was outside smoking on the side of the building.
I love how no matter how deep Peter seems to be appearing to try and be, ultimately he still refers to himself as a kid from Brooklyn. In 1997 he had no problem recording himself lifting weights in sweaty underwear.
Greg is a part of one of the two most important bands of my life. Thank goodness for Paradise Lost being the band that outlasted unchanged of all my favorite bands!
How in the fuck have I missed this interview all these years? I found Type O and Paradise Lost within a few weeks of each other. Thank goodness Paradise Lost is still intact and still making great music. R. I. P. Peter and Type O Negative! godamnit!
Glad I found this little gem of a video. Been a Paradise Lost fan for over 30 years, and they led me to discover Type O Negative. Amazing to see a young Greg interviewing 2 legends of Goth Rock - and now Greg is a legend himself, being a pioneer/creator of Gothic Metal. Great respect between these 3 - very humble guys. Sad that Pete passed away, but so happy with the legacy he left, inspiring other bands and artists to create their own great music in the Goth Rock/Metal scene.
Boy.... after all this time i see a lot of myself in Pete. It's amazing to know that someone as amazing as he was, has a kindred mindset as me. I'd like to meet him in the next life, hopefully.
I'm in love with that man - so articulate and deep!! Pete was so sincere and true to himself, its so attractive.. aside from that fact he made beautiful music!!
Cool share, thank you very much. Now back in the good old days... when most music was worth listening to. Peter was a great guy, with a deep soul. We still miss an outstanding band that still refuses to fade away. Their legacy is awesome to remember.
I can`t believe I watch this interview again. I remember I`ve recorded it on a VHS tape also and it was of course with bad quality because of the too many watches. ;) My ex-hubby deleted some of my recordings and I`m still angry at him for more than 10 years. So, I want to thank to one who kept it for the fans through the years and share it with us! Thank you very much! I feel great!!!
I'm glad I made you happy :) I just wanted to get rid of those old VHS-Tapes, and then I noticed what was on them. God, 20 years went by; makes me feel nostalgic. Type O and Peter, sadly missed.
Roman Muster Yeah some may say 20 years is such a long time but I feel like it was yesterday. Never throw those VHS tapes, please. :) Peter is sadly missed and we fans of Type O are like orphans.:(
+Irka Vampirka Well Peter never really changed too much, he did in lifestyle, but he was always the sarcastic but lovable asshole. So that's good, it's like the years didn't matter. When you saw Peter, you saw the same old Peter. Well I guess to those who met him.
Well spoken. The worship of nature sounds like something that should be more prevalent in our everyday lives, considering that it is the very thing that gives us sustenance.
I got to hang out with him and Nick for 20-30 minutes or so after a low attendance US show during the In Requiem tour. Really funny and interesting guy - him and Nick both. They actually asked me what I did for a living and things like that so they didn't want to just talk about themselves.
One of the reasons I became a Type O Negative fan was how Peter looked at religion, and as you can see, hated or just didn't believe in it. He believed more about nature and the world around him, than some organized business that uses guilt, fear and intimidation to believe in invisible people. Miss this band. Miss Peter, and will honor the opportunities I had to talk to Peter when he played live here in the AZ.
Peter didn't hate religion, he had much confliction and struggled with his beliefs and his catholic mother. In the end Peter chose God and renounced his atheistic ways.

Just have to point out that homo sapians are _far_ from the only animal that hunts for sport and there are certain intelligent mammals that kill for emotional reasons. Just look at Dolphins, they have complex social and social behaviors that lead to not necessarily death in most cases but definitely they inflict pain and ostracize their fellow dolphins and other complex negative interactions that have nothing to do with immediate survival. How about our fellow primates, nothing more needs to be said really. Yeah I know, it's not really a big deal but I had to say something anyway. XD
