OMGosh!!! Jen your in my neck of the woods. My family goes back 500 years in New Mexico. We were Crypto Jews who fled the Spanish Inquisition that followed us to Mexico than to the SW. We came with the Conquistadors and befriended the Natives. They hid us and later we hid them from the American Government. We colonized much of the SW. Look up Luis de Carvajal he is my Grandfather. The squash blossom was Jewish inspired because of the six pointed star and the 6 pointed squash blossom and our beautiful pomegranates of Spain and Israel. Did you try the Christmas style burrito? or the Carne Adovada or the our Sopapillas with honey?

Just went to Santa Fe for the first time this Memorial Day weekend and LOVED it. Such a charming city. We did some dispersed camping at Big Tesuque and set up camp next to a stream. Absolutely beautiful space.

Love the story about the staircase in the Loretto Chapel. Supposedly St Joseph appeared to build the staircase the Step Father of Jesus. I am from Albuquerque New Mexico. But my favorite thing about Santa Fe is the Opera. You will have to come back to Santa Fe and Attend one of their operas and Vlog about the experience. That would be a fun Video!!!

i love the architecture in NM. it's such a beautiful place and the food looked super delicious. i considered living there once but it didnt end up working out.

@@lpetmcdnot true! I live here and we do some of these things! Especially hiking, kakawa, museums etc The lodgings were super pricey but people can save up and stay in such places!

Nice trip! Since you were in the area, you should have gone to see The Earthships of Taos NM- some of the most unique architecture I have ever seen!!!!
I live near Santa Fe and you hit all the touristy spots! The Ghost Ranch would have been amazing if you were interested in Georgia O’keefe! Bandelier was open, it’s just there was some construction around it. Elevation if you’re not used to it will make you feel terrible… hence your alcohol reaction extreme tiredness. It’s too bad you couldn’t see more of this area… there’s so much more than the artsy part of SF.
Inside the church was the oldest representation of the Virgin Mary, it was brought over from Spain in 1625. It’s a marvelous sight.
I wanted to go to ghost ranch but unfortunately it was sold out while I was there. For those interested I suggest planning that well in advance.

My sister lives in Albuquerque… Santa Fe is beautiful but don’t buy anything because it is super over priced!!!! I learned why the food has to be hot…. To make you sweat… and when that hot dry air hits you cool down. I’m in Florida with the wet heat!😃

Native New Mexican here and miss it everyday single day! I look forward to when my kiddo is 18 and we can move back. I agree the balloon fiesta is the best! Morning Glow/ special shapes mornings I highly recommend and I think both you and your kiddos would enjoy. We go back every year for the balloon fiesta and helps make me less home sick. Great video!
I visited Santa Fe in 2021 so it was nice to revisit through your video. The elevation zapped us too. We'd hike in the morning and then nap in the afternoon!

My husband's family lives in Santa Fe...not far from where you stayed. Santa Fe is a place like no other. I love the traditions, the architecture, and the history.
