I ran that thing decades before they put the Interstate through there. Also ran the stretch between the dam and Shoshonee. It was sweet if you got it when the water levels were best. It was dry or death at other times.

I've paddled since I was 10. I've been to where they are at and looked at it from the shore. Most kayakers would consider it unrunnable at some levels. They call it Death for a reason!

I don't think I've seen rapids that just grab you and hold you like these ones... WTF.. It's like they just stop in the middle of the rapids from back flow all the time.... I guess going down these on an inner-tube wouldn't work very well... :]
Except dying on a car wreck would more likely be instant and an accident, while dying in a kayak would be an excruciating 3 or 4 minutes that could hardly be considered an accident since you put yourself into that situation knowing the massive risk involved
People put them selves " on " car wrecks every hour of every day , and they can assume it every time you get in your P.O.S vehicle . But , in the three or four minutes it takes to die at the river . You get to marvel at the magnificents of the river

Idk I feel like high volume hydraulics will usually flush out but if it did grab you you'd be in for one hell of a ride!
