What a refreshing review. I really feel VR is like the old days of video gaming. Companies trying things and making games because it’s their passion, not to trick us into buying loot boxes.
I was thinking the same thing feels like PC gaming in 95 but in all the good ways
Yeah that's why I liked PSVR1. Instead of the same bland PS4 games, there was experimentation. A lot of smaller games felt like they were just starting from scratch like the PS1/N64 era beginning of 3D gaming. I love the graphics in this one. My PSVR2 headset was collecting dust since RE:4 I have not used it at all. Glad to find out about this one.
Searched for 'Legendary Tales Without Parole review' and this was uploaded 1 min ago. Cheers for being so thoughtful
Phew. Just in time! :D
EDIT: I want to add how cool it is that you searched specifically for my review - thanks!
@@WithoutParoleyour reviews just have really good quality. Even conclusion about pluses and cons and 0-10 out of 10 rating alone is made very clear + the review doesn't have robotic voice
@@WithoutParole A lot of us search for these reviews by adding that, keep up the great reviews !
So happy we finally have an RPG in VR that is to this scale. Can't wait to try it. Thanks for all you do Bryan!
This is what vr releases should be like. Huge respect for the devs.
It's like VR Christmas anytime Bryan scores a new game this high.
Between having a 4 year old zipping around my house faster than a caffeinated squirrel and a minor head injury that leaves the headset resting crooked on my noggin, this review is like dangling a corndog in front of a starving man.
Ordered as soon as it hit the store. Like you said - gotta support these games if we want more like them!
If you want to play this or any game sitting down. Set your floor level below your actual floor level when setting up ur play space.
Trying to play propaganda paradise hotel without doing this was impossible.
How do you move in this game? Is there any negative consequences from tricking the PSvr2 like that. I would love to play this sitting down.
@@relaxingrain8395 thanks can you move the character with the left thumb stick because the game says it only works in room scale?
I bought VR1 because of Skyrim, now I think I'll buy VR2 because of this game

As someone who has Swordsmen VR as my most played VR game this is going to be awesome. And thank you for uploading a solid review of the game and keeping me up to date with PSVR2 news and release, your videos are the best for PSVR2 users
I loved swordsman VR but unfortunately like the poster said once you get through the awesome physics and swords play it's just a VR arena game, there's no adventure there's no mystery or magic, you chose what enemy or faction you want to fight from a menu then it just plops you down face to face with your foe, there's no seeing your enemy from a distance or planning your next move, that's one thing Arashi castles of sin was cool for you could traverse these levels and see your foe at a distance and decide to use stealth, charge full on with melee or stand back and use ranged attacks. I'm probably going to get legendary tales today, I havnt played a good VR game since Arashi and Arizona sunshine 2, both of which I beat in a matter of days, and as a huge fan of adventure RPGs like skyrim, looking forward to trying this one out
@@mattb9054 You enjoyed Arashi? I heard not great things about it at launch and decided to wait but might have to pick it up. I have only managed to play around 5-10 hours of legendary tales and it is really solid especially for a VR RPG.
DAMN that end review screen is tight! succinct af.
i love that you even show controller compatibility ❤
Awesome review with a great explanations of what the core game is like! I typically need a story to keep me invested after I get used to the gameplay, but I would still like to try it out when it goes on sale.
Thanks for the review!
I've been on the fence about this one since it released, just because it's a hefty price and sometimes games like this can be very tiring on the arms and eyes, with some repetitive-feeling progression. But I've watched this review 3 times over the last few months and I finally decided to get it, and I'm glad I did. Thanks for the detailed review, it really helped me make an informed decision 👍
Love the "Angry Baby Stomp" combat moves at 3:18
Bit annoyed there isn't a dedicated sit-down mode and crouch button. You can adjust the floor height but still a pain.
Yep. It makes roasting meat at a campfire next to impossible. The only way is to pause the game, rescan your entire playspace to reset the floor position, cook your meat, then repeat the entire process to lower the 'floor' again.
Seated mode and a crouch button should be considered an essential requirement in ALL vr games.
Regarding your crouch comment, I actually like that you have to physically crouch to make it happen in the game. And if you get the Stealth ability, crouching in reality (or sitting on your couch) triggers a Skyrim- style stealth mode!
I just saw it in the store and was like, i think that is for me. Thanks for always being a reliable and consistent creator. I just knew you would have this here.
Reminds me a bit of Kings Field and Ultima Underworld from back in the day. Looking forward to picking this up!
That's how it feels when you are playing too. Like an updated Ultima or Might and Magic game. Loving it.
Wow great review ! I’m buying this today! I didn’t even realize we were getting this, I haven’t heard anything about it something just posted your review on FB and I seen the 9.7 review and co-op and yeah is the type of game the PSVR 2 needed! Man I’m loving my PSVR2! I don’t even play flat games anymore nothing wows me like VR does! There so many great games and new ones coming out all the damn time! I don’t have the time to complete the games before a new gear one comes out I must buy! Really looking forward to the PSVR2 future!
Myles laugh while you (dropped) fireballs. 😂
I can't wait to play this today! Looks like so much fun. This is what I've been waiting for on PSVR2!
Great review! I hope you return to Last Stand for an episode with Dustin when Metro VR comes out!
This is what i want on vr.... looks amazing cant wait to get off work
As a huge Dark Souls and Skyrim enjoyer this game looks like a must buy for me. Finally I waited so long for a game like this for the Psvr2.
It's truly a labor of love. I hope the game does well so that the devs see it feasible to do a sequel. Glad this game is for both psv2 and pcvr.
Picked up day one. Will be a while before i check out due to backlog, but wanted to support this kind of great work from a small developer at full price.
The PC version was half the price till a couple of weeks ago (which I was going to buy)
Whilst it might not affect you I personally wont support the game because of this.
@@steveadams941 wasn't that because it came out of Early Access on PC? Pretty standard.
Awesome. Definitely going to enjoy this one!
Sold. RPG on psvr2. Good mechanics, good graphics, replay value, can play solo or multi, multiple specs possible. Very happy.
#gamecat Thanks for all the effort that goes into this content. LT is amazing, really appreciate the whole Parole team and the Cats!
I'll be playing this once I get some of my backlog dealt with.
Thanks for the review. It looks interesting for the PSVR2 library and I see many are very excited about a dungeon crawler RPG, so that’s great!, although I’m not sure I can justify $60 with my backlog, environments look a little too samey and variety of enemies is quite small. Great it’s native 90, one for the wishlist for now
9.7 out of 10 is an amazing score. A lot of people have said that the game is lacking in a variety of enemies. Just skeltons and goblins?
And some bats and floating death skulls and bosses. But yeah, there isn't a ton of enemy variety just like I mentioned here in the review :)
ok se before i dive in, any tips for character costumization? wich skills are important if i want to go for a sword and shield build, and can i possibly combine it with magic?
Yes he mentioned that you can combine swords & magic in one of his videos.
Great review! So happy to see a new highly rated VR 2 game!
i want to play it . but the no seat mode is a major issue for me.
I downloaded this last night and haven't had a chance to play it yet. Hopefully, tomorrow!
Thanks Bryan! Looks interesting. Can you tell me more about the outdoor environments? Is there a day/night cycle? From the footage it kind of looks like everything is at night. I'm just worried that combined with the darkness of the dungeon a constant nighttime outdoors might feel a bit one-note. And is there decent enemy variety? What about variety of landscape? I'm a big exploration guy and I am hoping to see some mountains, valleys, cool buildings and whatnot. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on those things.
The outdoor overworld is cool (although as I said in the review it's not quite as big as it initially seems) but no, there's no day/night cycle and not a ton of variety. It looks good but it's certainly not going to be extreme differences from one end of the map to the other. Even the dungeons all kind of look like caves until you start getting closer to the end of the game. I'm an explorer in games too and I think my satisfaction in LT came from leveling up and being strong enough to progress and see what's around the next corner - and get to the next dungeon of course. Hope that helps! :D
@@adam2178 people are comparing it to Skyrim and Dark Souls so it's good to reign in expectations
Lol... yes, thanks for saying what I've been thinking. It's neither Dark Souls nor Skyrim. It simply has difficulty, ambiance, multi-player, combat physics and some RPG depth. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves as it doesn't appear to have too much else!@@kart3288
@@jeffwhite8089 Skyrim VR is just too good, extremely hard to compete even a decade later
Give meee3eee moarrrrrr GaMezzzz!! Bring on Legendary TA... ;)
This not a game for day/night cycles... Its for Slayyyyyyy'ing!
Thanks for the nice review. I just can't resist this one.
So i dont really undestand ,how good are the phisics like stabbing on beheading
?
Realistic, you can't behead someone with one swing, and your weapons can get stuck in the enemies. You can behead enemies, it just takes a little. You can also use body parts as weapons.
Shout out to the dev team for adding seated mode +1 sale! 👍👍👍
Awesome review Bryan. This is the game I didn’t even know I was waiting for. I can’t wait to play. I’m so excited, I will gladly shell out my $85 😁
The PSVR2 release also made the PC version double in price too! (Im guessing price parity)
@@steveadams941 the Steam price reflects that it left Early Access and got updated with 2 years worth of new content
If this had the more interactive environment from blade and sorcery it would be the best vr game ever imo. Love the combat but i miss climbing environments by superheating my sword and stabbing it into solid stone, being able to jump with a button, and enemy bodies despawn a bit fast. But i will say the combat itself feels so much smoother to me than blade and sorcery and the weapon collision feels so much more consistent. Really enjoy the game and plan to get my money's worth
Yay this looks fantastic & will scratch that Skyrim VR itch for a while! Have been waiting for this type of game for ages
I always find it funny when I’m scrolling through comments and see people asking questions that you’re simultaneously answering very specifically in the video while I’m reading the comments lol. Almost as if people aren’t listening while they’re commenting. 😂
Brian, from the quality of your reviews, to the fact you are a constant professional and stretched so thin with minimal staff. Blows me away, how consistent the quality of your videos always are!! Chefs kiss! Excellent as always 👌
this looks good, but really i must say, it doesn't look $55 or $60 good , the lack of seated mode might be a problem, lack of enemy variety and the bit of lackluster graphics, this looks like an awesome 10/10 game if it was, let us say , $35 to $40....so i have an idea, wishlisted, will wait a bit, they iron it out, maybe add some quality of life stuff in it and i see a nice %25 discount on it maybe ? not craping on it, but Vertigo 2 for example was $26 and that hit the sweet spot for me, i wouldn't mind paying $10 to $15 more for the more hours, but $55....kinda steep for me, but i am intersted so will see or rather sleep on it tonight and see...
Devs said in the reddit AMA that they're going to provide technical support updates but at this time don't have any plans for new content in the future. Could change depending on sales though.
Yeah, that price tag definitely stopped me from picking it up. Especially since I have a decent backlog of both VR and non VR games.
@@plo617 i am also hearing so many people dropping it after around 10 hours due to boredom and lack of enemy variation, the game starts great but offers nothing new (so i heard) , so yeah, i tell u, if it was $35, would have picked it up, so wishlised and waiting .
If it wasn't for my backlog and the incoming FFVII Rebirth, I'd be picking this up at launch. Alas it'll have to wait a while, even though this is exactly what I've been looking for in a vr game ☮️❤️✌️
Sounds like we have the must have PSVR2 title of 2024 already.
does anyone know how to put an arrow in the bow? i cant seem to find where to pull them from and i cant find any info on it. please halp lol
If you're holding your bow with your left hand just grab an arrow with your right hand by reaching over your shoulder and clicking R1. You should have an infinite supply of them!
Went to get this game today and it says on the ps store that it just supports roomscale, is their a standing mode coming soon??
Just select roomscale and you're good to go. Legendary Tales doesn't require you to take a single step! :D
Thanks for the review! Picking this up tomorrow with a couple of friends.
Great review! Must buy for me :)
How is the enemy/boss/item variety in the game? And do items have stats ? Weapons/armors etc
3 enemy models that have different equipment/classes. Dragur Skeletons and Goblins. I believe the bosses are the same but have different sizes, animations, and attacks
@@kart3288 hmm from what I hear the game us still amazing so the enemy variety can be fine :)
@@MikkiZHskDK hope you enjoy it! The weapon variety does seem to be pretty substantial
@@MikkiZHskDK armor but no rings. Each piece of equipment does give stat bonuses so upgrading and checking out new gear is necessary.
Can't wait to jump in.
legendary tales and metro is good start to 2024
I'll pick this one up, but I'd so love to get Skyrim VR or Blade and Sorcery one day.
Hope to hear from behemoth soon 😊
One of the best VR games for me so far.
Imagine story like Rune Classic..
It would be insane game =)
Wooh nice
So, worse than Ancient dungeon 😆
I don't know whether to wait for a sale because the price is quite high. The graphics are average, dark and raw, but I appreciate that it is 90 fps and high resolution.
I don't think I'm going to play online.
Wow. This is everything I’ve wanted in VR since Skyrim. And to think, I wrote off the announcement this title, thinking it was more VR shovelware. 100% buying this.
The Playstation store is showing this as a roomscale only game, is that true and if so then do you actually need that much floorspace to play it ? Thanks.
Yes, another great title I can't wait to try!
Wow this looks incredible! Could very well see this becoming my favorite VR game. Awesome review ❤🤘
Sweeeetttt!! I love a good rpg dungeon crawler!! What time does c this drop today? Also, thanks for another awesome review
I need a game like this
I wanted to pick this up alongside Helldivers 2 but jesus how is this MORE expensive than Helldivers 2 lol
Great stuff.... Just think about all the updates and extra dlc that will come with this 😊 it will only get better and better woop👌
The mere thought of fighting a skeleton warrior make this game interesting to me. I will have to check it out at some point.
Im getting a psvr2 tomorrow and i want to know if this is better than swordsman vr or vice versa
Swordsman is an arena combat game. You spawn in, enemies spawn in, you kill enemies --- that's pretty much it. Legendary Tales is a full fledged dungeon crawler that lets you play however you want and level up your character way more than Swordsman allows. So for me LT is much, much better. But everyone is different and I've certainly heard people say LT is janky or boring - neither of which I agree with
@@WithoutParole ok thanks for the recommendation I think I'll get legandary tales and maybe in a few months I'll try swordsman because I'm bored of arenas because of blade and sorcery
Absolutely contender for best psvr game 2024
I have a problem were every time I boot up the game all my skill tree upgrades are gone, is that suppose to happen?
That's definitely not supposed to happen. Are you playing on Steam or PSVR2? Either way make sure you report the bug to the devs over on their discord.
@@WithoutParole On PSVR2. I just did, I don't use much discord so I hope I did it right.
Excellent review. Thank you!!
Are there any trophies that require playing with others, or can the Platinum be achieved entirely alone?
Thanks again for another awesome review! I was planning to wait a little on this one, but now...I don't think I can! I have so many good PSVR2 games that I'm playing these days and I'm still a long way from completing some of them--now this! Haha, it's a great "problem" to have.
In the future, could you add if the game is available physically or not at the end? Im only interested in physical games and have loved this channel for showing me games i never knew came out to add to my collection
Hey there! I've been asked this before but there are 2 problems with it. The first is that almost no PSVR2 games actually have physical releases (even COTM didn't). And the other problem is that most physical releases come way later than the digital version (from Perp Games or Limited Run) which means the review would suddenly be outdated. I wish the news was better but we're gonna see way fewer physical games this generation, especially with the Digital-only PS5 around
I hear you.. Luckly in this case the game is only 7gigs to download you can even download that on a 15 dollar a month phone plan... But i agree that gaming does need physical disc games too because some games are over 200 gigs to download and that would be absolute hell on a phone data plan. I think most VR games are pretty manageable size wise with just phone data plans, but big games are impossible which is why physical discs need to exist for that and because the actual console itself is sold in stores - so a small section of disc games should be required to be sold too right next to the console.
The fact that greedy companies try to make games digital only should be a government mandated law against that as it is anti-Consumer trade practices like Meta selling you a VR headset "in stores" but no disc games on the rack next to it forcing you into their online store ONLY. Anti consumer trade practices like this need to be limited now before its to late because "movie theatres", and "games", and most importantly "free over air TV" can all be killed by this type of monopolistic future that WILL come if it isnt limited now. BEFORE its to late. Because that is what the future holds if it is not limited now while its still early enough to put limits on online only content which is anti-consumer if you think about it. Their should always be a way to pick up a disc or order a disc direct from a developer and not be locked into some online store that can impose itself on you but most importantly impose its views on the developers and creaters at will... And THAT is why physical needs to be protected even in the future.. 🎉❤🎉
Awesome, can’t wait to play.
What is file size of Legendary Tales on psvr2?
Good question. Good to know what day one file size is so we know how big future patchs are. :)
Legendary tale file size is 7.2 GB since last update. Happy VR'ing. :)
Excellent review Bryan. So much so, that it’s got me excited to play it again! 🙌💙
Day one for sure
It’s a great game!!
I had a good feeling you'd like this. This is one of the best dungeon crawlers on pcvr imo. I knew it wasn't a meta title (thank god)...so I know you'll get a solid port. Just wait until they add more! Pcvr psvr 2 crossplay..what more could you ask for!!?!! Great score by the way. For people thinking its too expensive..just wait for sale..im pretty sure it drops to 34.99 on steam.
Seriously is it really worth waiting just to save a 20 bill so you can play it once everyone else has beaten the hell out of it, and you have no one your level left to enjoy the newness with..?? Really? I donno.. :)
..If it runs smooth❤ at launch im in day one. Good luck. :)
@@avaron_VR_Gamecat i agree but some people are not feeling the price point. To me its a day 1 buy. I've had legendary tales since it released on steam and its just got better and better over time. Excellent game..Good luck!
Really curious how progress works when jumping from SP to Coop and back to SP. Does hosting affect anything or not being the host? Thanks for the review. I will grab this in just over 20 hours it looks like.
Was definitely waiting on your review , especially with this being priced much higher than the majority of games. Thanks for all you do for the PSVR community 🤘
Oh thats why the PC version suddenly double in price over night!!
Price parity with the PSVR2 release
Indeed, coming out of Steam Early Access usually bumps up the price 5-15 dollars or so. But with Legendary Tales it was legit 2 full years of improvements that changed the game completely, not just a minor update pushing it to v1.0.
i want this kind of rpg games for vr pc and consoles
but with better graphics and animations i really cant play games that look outdated vr or none vr if i cant see the game world and say wow its beautiful to look at
like i did with horizon 2
The game looks incredible and I was totally sold but not sure now. It blows my mind that there is no seated mode in a game like this. With my back pain, I can hardly play a VR game stood for more than 10 mins without having to sit down. 50 hour game playing stood up???
I didn’t know I could upgrade
That cherry blossom sword ❤
Finally something good 🎉
