possibly your new car visits the workshop before this van is still 20 years old
This car have military style if you not like you can take gazell .
Actually original one is much older. These cars peoduced for a very long time!
Nice to see somebody still makes simple and functional 4x4s.
For a nonstandard definition of 'functional.'
Like a sharks, no need for evolution, after market parts in ewery corner 😉
Look like typical Army Bus.
Yeah, except that you'd probably get killed in a crash at 20km/h in this thing.
@@urbandwelleryou misunderstood, other aluminum car not safe from this iron
Actually this is a very reliable and cheap van especcialy if you have bad roads(or have no of them). We still use these vans as ambulances in rural areas in Russia because they are REALLY offroad and dont need too much care. Also a lot of other services use them.
Cheap? Do you please tell me an aproximatly price
@@jakeelperro3876 A brand new UAZ now costs $ 9,600 in Russia, but you can buy a used UAZ from a military auction for around $ 1,000 and it will be in good condition. That's why these cars are so popular.

to be fair it is quite impressive how practical it is
Very if your in a FSR country and can get them, I bounced all over the Gobi desert and Siberia in these vans great fuel economy easy to fix but they beat the crap out of you if your not driving it...I should say the ones I was using had many KMs on em and were much older then this model. Id love to have this one.
Hippies would love this shit. They would sell like candy.
In which decade are you living? Hippies were a creation of the 60's. I can't imagine these selling like hotcakes anywhere, except perhaps, North Korea.
@@nukemanmd they still sell well in many places

sciprio1 i want to import this kind of van to USA I'm looking around to find one thats in USA but I can't find any
Benjamin Larson You can import anything as long as you register it as an offroad vehicle (varies by state, but mine you need a 25mph limiter). So many people do this with Japanese kei cars as well (and just remove the limiter when no one is looking).
So it wouldn't be legal on the road?
Taunuslunatic no,but you can drive it on your property if you have a big one
@@benjaminlarson3613 You have a distributor in Mexico
I like this vehicle. Looks simple to operate and ready to drive!
@Alex Purnell I have a 5spd car too.

But it's so slow
@@Aj_2024kaa vehicle like this is purpose built for around town and rural areas. Not really sure how fast it needs to be for those two things.
The Land Rover Defender recently went out of production, meaning this is the oldest car being built on earth
Mitch Wild that's 1936 this has been built ever since the soviet uprising
Morgan hasn't been making the same model for that long, this may be it, this could be the longest unchanged production car since they stopped making the VW Combis in Brazil, and the Bettles in Mexico.
I was about to mention the Hindustan Ambassador been in production since 1958 relatively unchanged they stopped making them in 2013 though.
Lucas Kroon mahindra is still building a licensed built Willis jeep
toyota landcruiser is pretty old tho
In March 2011, models 39625, 3962, and 2206 received upgrades,
consisting of ABS brakes, power steering, seat belts and the Euro-4
engine as standard equipment.
Wait, what? They didn't have seat belts until 2011? That's how low Russian safety standards are?
@@no1DdC previously this car was made on USSR standarts, and YES it didn't have any safety. Like, literrally one head-on crash - and driver is in the hospital or worse... But the key is that it was even slower than new version xD and not much of fatal crashes happened
@@no1DdC there is no any "safety standarts" in russia, lol

Other than this vehicle being 4-wheel drive, it seems nearly identical to my father's 1961 Ford Econoline van. Same shape, engine placement identical, even the color is close. The Ford ran for over 300,000 miles before dad sold it to a man who drove it from the Midwest to California and back.
Love it! I wish more of these Russian off road vids were in English! I enjoy watching the tracked vehicles too
Thanks! That was really interesting. These vehicles are pretty much unknown here in the US, so being able to learn about them via your channel is a real treat.
Russian cars are so much underrated. They survive Siberia. It is not all about luxury. Most western cars would not be able to follow this one.
Lets be real here. Russian cars are not indestructible or even of a particularly high quality. They "survive" Siberia because they are mechanically simplistic enough for just about anyone to fix anything in the field, and parts are always reasonably easily available.
My Lada Niva instruction manual instructed me to mount the spare wheel in the side window frame before flipping the car over to fix the running gear. I laughed until my front differential fell off. To be fair, it's much easier to work on a front differential with the car on its side..
Hah, very true! The last few years I've been driving a Suburban, last of the all-mechanical kind. It has a nice balance between charming breakdowns and driving comfort, and it's fairly easy to work on (if only the parts weren't so heavy!). I'd be genuinely interested in a little UAZ van though, too bad they're virtually impossible to import into my country.
Oh, I'm quite European. Norway to be precise. Shared border with Russia and everything. Have an old Ural sidecar bike as well, though I have to replace the russian electronic ignition (terrible) with a mechanical distributor to make it run for more than 15 minutes at a time. My Suburban is really just a pet project, and a great tool for the work I do at 1000 meters over sea level on the mountain plateaus during the winter. Just have to keep the electric heaters on at night or the diesel freezes..
Hah! I attended a festival in Sweden a couple of years ago. It was raining heavily most of the time, and the grass parking lot turned into mud. Guy comes running, he's gotten his rental sedan bogged down and is worried about damages. Explains he's from Australia and got his hopes up when he spotted my truck with a big snorkel - apparently that's what you look for when you get yourself in a pinch down under. Had him back on firm(er) ground in a few minutes without a scratch. Nice guy. Take care!
You sure about that?
This new UAZ is so quiet.... Me and my dad own an old Soviet UAZ and DAMN it is loud
especially if you drive it in half gear and all wheel drive on high rpm (I don't know the proper word for half gear)
@@Nelegyenmabenneanevem low gear
@Alex Purnell approximately from 1980 to 1990, I don't remember exactly.
Our UAZ has slightly modified engine with carburettor from one of VAZ cars, it has bigger wheels, bigger bumpers and is equipped for forest life - cooking stove, foldable bed, rear windows are fully dark, and it has optional heat insulation for winter trips.

I love this car already, I used to see them in Southeastern Europe, you have rekindled my love for this car, thanks.
Thank you for sharing this video! I've been curious about these neat Russian vans I've seen in the dash cam videos! Pretty neat little 4x4 van! I love the fact they still look like a 1960s van!
I love these vans. When I first moved to Moscow I used to see these cleaning out the sewerage pipes, quite often. I also think they sell these in vdnkh:)
wow, a steel dashboard. love it.
I absolutely love the simplicity of this thing.
Uazes were(and are) very good and dependable four wheelers ,easy to maintain and repair. Thanks for sharing, Blagodarju
I would love to own one of these, just for the uniqueness here in the USA, but im pretty sure importing it in would cost way more than the van itself.
Erka Durka I want to import one to USA to i would pay but I wonder is there one already here that has been imported
Erka Durka there is a dealership in miami
It varies state by state, but you can import one as an "offroad vehicle". Some states require 25mph limiters or 30mph limiters or no limiters, but you can still do it.
First the has to be registered outside Russia...Like Finland, then you have to find a car that is at least 25 years old (1989-1990) if you want it to have plates on it. :)
Christian mrclep There are few for sale, ranging from 4.5 to 8 k euros. All of them from the 80s. Seller says they go 120km/h, but atleast i wouldn't do it lol.
I love everything about the simplicity!!!!!!
Well built,
Good visibility.

I remember driving in one of these 8 years ago. It was a very hot summer day in Siberia where the tarmac melted on the streets. It was a long road trip from a lake far away we where fishing at. We where like 6 guys in that old UAZ and the passengers were sleeping. And then all of the sudden one tire blew up and that scared the living shit out of everyone. After changing the tire in the middle of nowhere, we finally proceed the trip back being all awake.
That was great...Thank you for posting...
Wish I could get one in the States. What a great overland camper this could be... Simple and tough.
Wow seems like a very good work van and those rear seats look very functional with one side looking at the other side seats just to chat or some small conference.
Here in México we just have the UAZ Hunter, i hope UAZ brings this model to México too! It´s great!!!
Love the classic and simple look of the car 👍♥️
I'd buy in a heart beat, has all the same safety features as my 1992 1 ton Chev and I haven't died yet driving it
Nice looking van. I've heard of UAZ, but I've never seen one in person.
I hope they never stop producing this car ever, and bring it to Colombia, I need one haha.

@@campus206 you are correct he just has to visit his local Lada dealer they bring them into south america
Seriously. You need to increase the volume of the voice over part, with the engine specs. It's always so low it's like you're whispering, and the engine noise isn't really helping either.
Magnus Wilén )i
It's almost as if he was embarrassed by the specs. The engine is far too large and thirsty considering the power output.
i love the simplicity, no fancy buttons, i like the look

This microbus looks amazing!
It reminds me of my first vehicle. A 1964 Ford Econoline van. Had a 170 straight 6, and 3 on the tree. I could carry 3 dirt bikes and get 20mpg. Paid $550 and drove it 8 years, then sold it for $700. I still miss it!
Dear UAZ never stop making these!
A cheap utilitarian vehicle built and sold in 2016? Why don't they sell these in the US? I'd buy one!
It won't work, because everything from Russia is Commie and so bad, only Amercan is good, i.e because of those WASP-religious loonies everything from Russia is bad and a sin
I imagine its because it has the safety standards of a chip packet.
Well don't think all those safetystandards and electronics going to safe your ass, if a truck hits you or another vehicle you die the same way, in this car you are certain to die, maybe a better choice as living like a vegetable
That's the most nonsensical statement I've ever heard. An accident that would kill or "turn you into a vegetable" in this UAZ would be easily survivable without any injuries in a modern car, not to mention, you would likely be able to avoid such an accident, since modern vehicles have far better suspension and brakes than this vintage car and assistance systems on top.
Democrats in California.. they've ruined the fun in vehicles we can have in the US
I remember in the documentary the long way round they had one as a backup vehicle I did not know they were still making them? Do you know when they started making them?
1965. I think it's now the longest lived vehicle still in production on its first generation.
Dan McCarthy Perfection does not require changes
Does it have a 39 speaker Bose stereo system? I ended up here after watching some Cadillac CT6 videos, You tube never fails to surprise. I think I'd actually prefer one of these than the Caddy.

Great concept - big bus!!!
The lever next to the transfer case lever...did he say auger selection? Did he mean power takeoff?
Hello MegaRetr, what do you mean when you say at 3'15 : "not reliable"? Is it a car that is often broken? or with problems? Do we need to be mechanics to possess one?
I wish i have one of this van , simple and plain vehicle, everything you can do your self to keep it going strong.
Dude this van is so awesome
Why do I love this thing so much
Is there an air conditioner that you use when it's hot?
Is the Backwall to removeable? So you could fit a Bed inside?
i love it, looks vintage, 4x4....i hope someday this will sell in my country indonesia
What's with the ticking sound? Is it the engine exhaust, or valve sound?
@MegRetr
Can the the fuel cap be locked?
Great vehicle. Simple and easy to keep on the road. Reminds me of the old Ford 400E vans of the 60`s.
If I could get one of these in canada I'd buy one today. What an awesome hunting and rural utility truck/van.
You're damn right. The list of possible uses for this car is huge. Its simplicity and permeability just bribe you with giblets entirely. As the old engineering joke goes, what's missing won't break. You are buying a base for your imagination. This is for people with a craving for their own engineering. Corrosion treatment is not encouraging, but it is fixable. In Russia, a new one costs 11,300 US dollars in a complete set. In fact, in Russia they have been driving off-road for 50 years as an ambulance in remote villages or the police or the military or rescuers. Kalashnikov on wheels.
I have a 1980 toyota truck. It needs another $30 part every 200kmiles or so. Are these more reliable?
How do you buy one?So retro and in,take a couple a these to a vw or camper caravan meet word would soon get about,i really want one how to defo stand put in a crowd
At 3:12 you say, while opening the door, "it's not so reliable". Can you explain that a bit further? I am seriously considering buying one of these; there is a dealer in Belgium. I'm really curious for the reason of your reliability remark! Thanks in advance. I really like this vehicle, as I am not after modern sophisticated cars with unnecessary features.
Hi Han,
I'm seeing this pot today, did you ever buy one?
UAZ should not buy in any case. It is cheap, but EXTREMELY ulititarny and unreliable van, the welds are completely unreliable, the car has to be boiled completely by welding, the body and frame are rusty to the holes in a year or two, the oil seals of bridges and the engine are flowing with oil for a short run, there are also problems with howling gearbox and all-wheel drive. "Canning cans" of Chinese parts, which are absolutely not worth their money, go to the domestic Russian market. For export, probably, cars of the best quality will go.
czcams.com/video/J6svzFhN4ng/video.html
A dealer IN BELGIUM?!
Its pretty reliable since there are not that many parts yo break, and even smth goes bad, spare parts are pretty cheap.hunters, fishermen and travelers love this car, only schoolboys whine about quality
Everything you need .
Nothing you don't .
I can't help it, I just want this van.
Looks like it would last forever.
Isnt there any company that reinforces those chasis and takes out any reliability issues with these trucks? Or like aftermarket kits meant to solve issues that everybody knows.
"2016 redisign"
Rafael González I think all they changed is the steering wheel. still, the old, simple design works and there is really no need for a a redesign.
They probably had to update the engine every 10 years and add extras like seat belts and 12v power.
Wish i could have one in Cali
😂😂😂
ahaha, this shit costs 10. 000 $ ! ! !
Silly question, does this truck has optional air contidioner? I'd like to get one but where I live it's usually no less than 32 degrees celcius (around 89 farenheit) with humidity levels up to 56%. I'd get used to ride this thing with open Windows, but having air conditioning would be pretty nice tho
Sadly, it doesn't come with an a/c.
Dang it, windows cranked down will have to do then.
Nice! Wish we had this in the States..
Can you buy these in america? I love the simplicity
love the van and would love to have one.
Would love one of these, I doubt there's much in the way of computery stuff to go wrong. It's basic and that's it's appeal, if they did a right hand drive version I'm sure they would do well in the UK. People are fed up with vehicles that need a computer to fix them.
I'm from Indonesia, but I really love russian car...awesome design, tough engine...love it
im in love with this uaz
I'm sure it's got a heater that can bake bread! I like it, looks about the size of an old VW combi. Looks built like a small military vehicle, what's the cost on a new one there? Both diffs looks like something from the 1920's, but the engine looks pretty modern, EFI and all. Windshield washer looks like it can be used to put out a fire! If I ever find myself living in Russia I would seriously consider one of these or a Lada Niva. Closest the US made to something like this were the Jeep FC models which are cute as hell but hard to find.
This would actually be great over here in Canada for tradesmen and contractors alot of job sites with less than stellar roadways and great cargo
That's so cool that would make a nice pop top camper van be nice if it came in right hand drive for the Aussie market
That car looks great for what it is, but i doubt that it's very safe to drive, then again, there's probably like 5 of these in total kn siberia, so whg are you supposed to hit?
Cool, does it have self-driving capability?
Nice car ;)) i love GAZ and UAZ.
Looks like a still-on production 1st gen Vw T1 dat is cheap right??
The old ones' interiors look so much better!
My dream car! I had a Fiat 900T, much simpler and badly made than this one. Quite luxurious compared to my 900T which even didn't have a heating ventilator. But I loved it like hell, even with only 34 HP it was so practical. The UAZ is much better, very big and powerful. 4x4 is great too.
You should have tried the Fiat "Panda" 4x4.. the italian Bukhovka.. old people (farmers etc.) Still use It and It beated alot of moderno suv in off-road trails.. because like the UAZ the 4x4 Is a so lightweight Cars made them the goat of the Mountain.. with 0 confort tho 😅😁
i just watched this vid 7 times back to back to make sure i didn't miss anything if i could give you a thousand thumbs up i would i have a thing for russian and siberian off road vehicles, they are so much better then anything we have in north america.a stock russian vehicle is more capable then any of our lifted and built after market 4x4's our vehicles pale in comparison to anything you have.if you had to put a stock siberian or russian off road vehicle next to any north american off-road vehicle and take them in the exact off-road trail your vehicle would have no problem going through any of it while our's would be stuck right at the begging and that's why all of our north american off road vehicles all have to have winch's because they are always stuck no matter the terrain.and this is from a person who has had several jeeps.
