    Some people sew them with the fur running down or away from you.
    The reason is that as you are walking the snow or rain that is falling will naturally flow away with the direction of the fur. Now all that being said there are also those that sew with the fur going in the opposite direction or towards you.

    They have to be the biggest mitts I've ever seen. They do look awesome and very warm.

    Forgive my ignorance on this....but would it be warmer if the fur was on the inside?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  Před 5 lety +2

      Nope, because the fur pulls wetness from your hands and extracts the sweet which it deposits on the outside of the fur. That manifests itself as frost that you brush off. Also, there is a very incredibly thick under fur that we make felt hats out of that stops air from moving which is what gives it its insulative properties. Think of it this way. Would a beaver be warmer with fur on the outside or the inside? If it were the inside then why hasn't it evolved as such? Lastly, it would be softer, but not warmer, and you would lose dexterity.

      Someone taught me that. I thought so too until I learned more. It's all about the education!

    You can dry beaver fur by rubbing it in the snow. You get them wet, just roll them in the snow. YoUQQq

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  Před 5 lety

      If the snow is dry. If not, you just stay wet. But either way, the fur will dry itself with your body heat if you keep moving. It really is something amazing.

    Looking at beaver vs mink hat. Assuming beaver warmer?? Input please?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  Před 3 lety +1

      Beaver is what I'd go with. It's my understanding that it is warmer and I know for sure it's going to be cheaper. Save mink for coats.

    Nice review. If tough and durable skins were good enough for trappers and hunters that spent days out in the woods. I've had nylon and polyester fabrics that ripped to shreds on wire and briars. I've got to invest in a pair of these.

      I'd to that just for the hoax if I had that kind of cash and time. That would cost so much it's ridiculous. I bet you would be warm when wet as well.
