Mine arrived today.
No POP!!, straight out of the box!
So M-VAVE is watching this channel as well ! 😉
They promised to solve it and they did it! Cheers mate! 🎛️🔥
Thank you! I soldered the two resistors, and it fixed the noise! Not even the separate 9V power supply solved the problem. Greetings from Argentina!
I am glad it worked mate!!! 🎛️🔥
We need more videos like this to fix some affordable pedals with little "troubles" ! Cheers !
Thanks for your feedback mate!!!
You’re the guy I wish I had as a friend, thanks for this fix, modding these metal boxes is fun
Lots to come soon mate! Cheers! 🎛️🔥
@@RiffsRigs Cheers!
I just took this off my board because of the pop. Will be doing this when the resistors arrive! thanks.
You are more than welcome mate! Glad to know it helped! 🎛️🔥
Works like a charm. Now I can explore the mini-verse without the big POP!
Awesome!! Cheers mate! 🎛️🔥
Top!!! Parabéns irmão, o canal ta foda!!! Sou fã!!!!
Valeu Willian!!!
The problem is not really the knobs but those plastic shafts of the potentiometers. Quite a few cheapo pedals are coming with them now (like Irin pedals, among others).
Explosion scene got me 😂👍
Thanks for sharing the tip, man! Subscribed!! 🤘🏿🤘🏿
Welcome mate!!! Cheers! 🎛️🔥
It took me a little longer than I thought it would, but it worked. Thank you!
I am glad it worked mate! 🎛️🔥
Luckily I don't have the popping switch on my Mini Universe. I use USB to power it so maybe that's why. My Mini FX pops even on usb power. If I spam the switch after I hook up my pedal chain sometimes that gets rid of it though.
I think this is fantastic! Coming from another “acoustic” tone chaser on a budget! Can I ask if someone didn’t want to mod the pedal, would a simple A/B/Y pedal, hide the mini universes, shortcomings with button noise? Thank you! 🇨🇦👍🏻🤔
Sure! It could solve, including the cut on the signal that it has for some miliseconds! I am thinking on doing a recasing of the pedal and maybe making a double pedal... let's see if it works!
worked like a charm, thanks
I am glad it helped! 🔥🎛️
great video. Please note that 1/8W resistors will work there just fine and be considerably smaller.
It is true! I used those ones as they are the ones I use for Treble Bleed circuits. I believe some people will have them at home.
@@RiffsRigs I just did the mod and it works great. The resistors cause no change in tone (yay!) and the pop is gone!
@@matrix12xgreat to hear it mate!! Enjoy your new "popless" pedal! 🎛️🔥
1/8W and 220K? Thanks
@@aguesk yep
great mod! Will that work on the Mary cries by PRS because it is a fabulous peddle but man does it explode when I click it! I really would like to use it as a boost pedal but this is a deal killer for me.
If the issue of the pop is because of a peak of voltage, for sure it solves! I think it is worth the try! Just be sure to do not overheat your circuit board when soldering it! You can damage your pedal!
Pretty sure you can run it through the 5v USB-c jack and it won't pop nor will it have the high pitched whining that a lot of people have. I used a Samsung cell phone charger to power mine and it worked great.
Unfortunately mine still pops through 5v USB.
Will it work with a power strip supply that powers all pedals or do I still have to get a separate power?
It works, but if it will not be isolated it can introduce a high pitch whinning or noise, as all digital pedals when mixed with analogic ones! Cheers mate! 🎛️🔥
is it also effective to on M-vave mini reverb pedal? they have the same issue. thank you.
It is worth trying!
This is a huge help man! Sadly, i sold mine a few months ago. I might consider buying again if I have the money hahahaha
I'll link your video on my facebook post this will definitely help a lot of musician friends.
Thanks a lot mate! It is still time to buy another piece! Aliexpress is in sale from 15th to 19th! 🔥🎛️
I need something like this for my EHX Small Clone.
Could you be more specific about what these resistors connect to so it can be applied to other pedals please? Thanks for the video!
Hey mate... I don't know if I am the most indicated person to answer you precisely, as I saw this solution on several forums, but anyway I can tell you what I have in terms of info: the Pop on the Mini U happens because when the footswitch is engaged, the 9V input circuit inserts a peak of Voltage caused by some mistake of project. What this additional resistance makes is the attenuation of this peak when engaged the footswitch, connected to the 9V power bus. I hope it can help you! 🎛️🔥
@@RiffsRigs thank you :D
Very much a help!
My Marshall DSL channel footswitch also pops, it has done that like forever and it seems they all do it, or at least most of them. Would this fix also apply to a simple footswitch or another fx pedal ? or just for this M-Vave mini Universe? I ordered it today btw, at nice discount, also ordered 20 of those 1W 220K resistors with it, lol.... I hope it works if mine has that loud pop too. Will let you know.
It depends mate... this one was basically a design issue which was bleeding a high tension peak from the 9V circuit when the footswitch was engaged... in this way, the resistors bleeded this peak! If the cause of the Marshall will be the same, it can solve!
@@RiffsRigs Thanks for the reply. I don't think there even are resistors or caps in the Marshall switch, or maybe just 1 or 2, so it would be something on the amp side of things. But apparently it's a common issue, it's not that loud either, my lil brother owns a couple of Marshalls (and other amps), he's looking at (and for) vintage guitars and amps and gear almost all day and every day, he said no worries, don't let it bother you, just get used to it.
Time to bust out the Weller (the soldering station, not the whisky)! 👍👍
Hands on! 💪🏻🔥🎛️
Why not both?
But definitely after the tools are put away.
@@mikemilem4354 If you go whiskey first, it makes the project more fun/challenging!
@@mriconoclast13 for the steady hands
Make more vids like this. Taking cheap pedals and modding them to be competitive to $100 ones.
Thanks a lot mate! I am working on more projects like this! This week I will release a review of the Pure Sky (Timmy Clone) and later I will do the JSA MOD on it! 🎛️🔥
Yea. It's MUCH easier to just run the pedal using a 5v cell phone charger. It gets rid of the popping and the high pitched whining noise that some people have.
Everybody has a USB-C charger...well, except IPhone users lol.
Just use a phone charger and forget all of this stuff. For the people who don't have a soldering iron and the ones who do, this is a MUCH EASIER fix.
I am actually in the middle of doing this mod because using the USB-C charging input DID NOT get rid of the huge pop/click when activating the pedal, however it DID remove the whining noise.
seems like powering these with their own supply like using a 9V battery fixes the popping problem, so for people who are hesitating to buy it don't worry! its still very worth the price
For sure it is!!
I'm operating on mine tonite. I'll let you know how it goes. I had to buy a lot of 200 resistors though. Glad they are cheap as hell.
Lots of treble bleed to do with them mate! HAHAHA 🎛️🔥
It's alive !! Total success. I got this one for 40$ on Amazon. Made a complaint to seller, and got credited, so it's a freebie. I purchased another, but the one at $70 from a different seller, and it does not have the same issues. Now have one for both rigs !! BONUS. Many thanks for this fix.
@@pdwcustomsAwesome!!! 🎛️🔥
Brilliant, thankyou. Does the sound still drop out a bit when you engage the pedal? It sounds like it does at 3:30.
It still has the gap, as this is a problem on the algorithm, but it is much better than the POP! hehehe!
@@RiffsRigs that's a shame, and somewhat spoils what is a great sounding pedal otherwise. Thanks for the video though, I will give it a go.
I am glad it helped mate! If you will have any issue, just let me know!
On the future I will try to change Knobs and Footswitch, as they are really poor. I am thinking on a project of recasing to be honest! But nothing guaranteed for a while... In Italy is not that easy to get spare parts!
I've thought about replacing the footswitch too. It is really cheap & clicky.
@@RiffsRigs will 360k resitors work? I have some in, but not 220k.
Damn, if I knew this before I wouldn't give mine away! Time to buy another one!
I can give you a link 😬
Just run it on a cell phone charger through the USB port. No popping and no extra, uneeded noise doing it that way.
Did you also solve the small delay when the pedal is engaged?
Unfortunately no... there is still the milliseconds gap!
Thank you for this tip sir
You are welcome mate!!
can this be done on other pedals that has pop sound when pressing on and off
If the issue is a Voltage peak, for sure you can! :)
Tu é brasileiro, irmão? Esse sotaque entrega ❤
Sim senhor! 🙌🏻
Is there anyway you can mod the trails of this effects?
Not that I know mate... as it is true bypass and not buffer bypass...
Received mine today. Have it on a power bank. And not in chain with anything else. 'have no popping sound when activate. So maybe they fixed it...
They solved in the new ones! 🎛️🔥
Good idea!! Go😊
Thanks Neto!! 💪🏻
thanks bro, my knobs are so hard to take of
Patience is the key. Try to force a little, rotate the knob a little... force on the other side... 🎛️🔥
Obrigado viajante do tempo! Notas de projeto corrigidas! 😎 Hasta la vista baby! 🎛️🔥
Brilliant ❤
Thanks a lot mate!! 💪🏻🎛️🔥
You did give a thorough description on How To ( but ) - I'm not going thru All That Trouble . . . I will just Purchase a Pedal thats been "Made Better" in the 1st place.
It makes sense mate, but I still didn't find a budget option (even on the range of 100 bucks) with so beautiful algorithm as this one. I will try a Brazilian one called Genesis on the next weeks!! All the best to you! 🎛️🔥
Have you guys tried the ALABS Cetus?
@@EXSENTRIXthere is a review here at the channel!! I bought after I saw it here! It is awesome, specially in Stereo!!!
Mine doesn't pop. In fact it doesn't make any sort of sound at all. It's stopped working!
Ouuuuuch mate! Mine is still surviving after 3 months!
I'll give this a go. I had already tried 1M resistors between input/output and ground but that didn't work.
This one for sure will! Trust me! =)
Tanto o mini quanto o grande sao fenomenais!
How about resistor 1w-200k its only i have and available is it possible to work???
It is worth the try!! 🎛️🔥
I've tried 1watt 200k sometimes it work sometime it's not...
My Mosky CH Vibe pops like hell. Would this mod work for that too?
It is worth the try! I don't have ir here, but some colleagues asked the same! I think there is no harm! 🎛️🔥
@@RiffsRigs Thanks for the response. Is there a way to know which pads are the ones I need to connect to? Also, do I have to use two resisters like you did in the video, or could I just use one with a higher value?
Nice 😊
Another mod that you can do is to break the narrow trace between the top and middle pins - this completely mutes the pedal when switched off (it doesn't pass the original dry signal). I find this useful when using many pedals in parallel (with a splitter / mixer) to avoid phasing issues between dry signals coming through multiple pedals.
It is a good suggestion mate! Thanks for sharing it! 🎛️🔥
Or you can just use a cell phone charger to power it through the USB-C port. It gets rid of ALL of the issues with this pedal and you don't have modify and possibly destroy your pedal this way.
I argued with the seller for over 30 days trying to get a refund and they refused. Wanted me to pay $55 to ship it back to China just to get a $25 refund. Didn't matter how many times I explained that to the seller. They insisted I pay return shipping on a defective pedal 🤦
So I escalated it to PayPal and explained the shipping price issue to them. They said they completely understood and I shouldn't have to pay shipping for that. So they offered me a voucher for the cost of the pedal and I didn't have to return it. I gladly accepted it. It wasn't cash but more like a coupon for $27.xx that i could use on any PayPal purchase.
It was only after they did that when I realized it works PERFECT using a 5v cell phone charger instead of a pedal power supply or battery.
What value resisters???
I have used two resistors of 1W 220K! Cheers mate! 🎛️🔥
Can I do this mod with a 2.2 mega ohm resistor?
I think so! saw many people doing with higher values! I think it is worth the try! 🎛️🔥
@RiffsRigs I also have a M-vave mini amp pedal. Do you think this trick applies too?
@RiffsRigs uses a 510K resistor turns out to work very well to eliminate mini universe explosions. Thank you, buddy
@@hafizhnav Probably yes! If the issue is the same peak of tension that the power circuit injects when the 3PDT is engaged, for sure yes!
@RiffsRigs is the way the same? By adding a resistor to the switch component leg like in a mini universe?

Excellent video! Subscribing so I don't miss future videos :)
Thanks a lot mate! Welcome to the crew! 🎛️🔥
For my AAD 100 amp and tele I need it less then 5 % , better to buy another amp. I like to play guitar not to play with pedals
I did this mod and it works!! However, my particular Mini Universe pedal needs to be shut down and then rebooted every time otherwise it doesn't work. Ah, well...
That's strange mate... this was happening on the beginning, before I did the mod. Maybe try switching the resistors and resoldering it... hope it helps! 🎛️🔥
@@RiffsRigs Nah! lol It works well enough and it was kind of a pain to get the knobs off.
Are those 4.7k resistors?
There are the specs in the link on the description mate!! 🎛️🔥
@@RiffsRigs The AliExpress one is not marked well but the Amazon one is BUT... you have to buy 100 of them. lol I understand why but I really don't know what I'd do with the other 98 that won't use. Ha ha!
@@genenery9315 You can use them for treble bleed circuits! 😂 Probably it is better to find at some local components store! 🎛️🔥
@@RiffsRigs Curiously, my Universe pedal stopped popping last night! So weird.
Hi! This Mod no damage the pedal? Thanx you
No damages! Just be careful to do not overheat the circuit board! If you will not overheat it, no risks! 🎛️🔥
Thank you from Italy!
@emanuelscomparin Prego! Un piacere! 🇮🇹🤌🏻
Mine i fixed the trails of it... by using the fx loop pedal as activator ( fx loop send to mvave IN.. guitar to fx loop IN)
Then not routing the out of mvave to return of fx loop. Instead make a PARALLEL route out..
out of mvave to B of ABY ped
out of fx loop ped to A of ABY ped
then combining the route to C of ABY out to ur amp ( ABY is on A&B mode always for the continous signal flow for the trails) ...
Mvave always stay ON
Just activate it using the fx loop switching signal
It fix the trails . And i hear no popping for initial try .( even ON OFF of mvave itself) but will observe more on higher vol about the popping.. but 100% it fixed the trails..
But takes additional pedals for it.. but for me its worth it..
I suggested it on my review, using the mosky loop box! It also helps to solve the small interuption it gets when engaged and disengaged!
Yes thank you 🇵🇭🇵🇭👍
Yup. Takes out the pop ...and takes 2/3 the volume away.
Hey mate... I didn't notice any volume drop on mine... as you can hear on the trial that I did.
Which values of resistors did you use? Check also the soldering if it is ok... I hope it will help!
@@RiffsRigs Mine also has volume drop, i used 1/4W Metal Film Resistors 0.25 Watt 1% Tolerance
Resistance: 2.2K ohm, i am going to retry 1/4W Metal Film Resistors 0.25 Watt 1% Tolerance
Resistance: 1M ohm
how about the trails bruh?
No trails mate... it is True Bypass... so unfortunately not possible to solve it! On the end of the day, it is still a 30 bucks pedal! 🎛️🔥

The knob removal technique is bad. If you cant remove it by hand, you can use the rag slide it on the knobs gap and wrap around and you can pull it
For sure it works... I take out from my guitar exactly like that, but some of the mini U's have REALLY hard knobs to remove! Anyway it is an awesome tip! 🎛️🔥
