Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Jay Z wrote still dree for dr dre. you have west coast hip hop before sir jinx. of course sir jinx is a legend. before Eazy E died, he was in east coast getting love dont forget Steve lobel managed bone thugs co found Nipsey Hustle and represented many west coast acts. he was a former roadie for Run DMC. we dont have to neglect artists and producers before him. Ice Cube had public enemy NY producers The Bomb Squad work on his album when he left NWA.from NY, afrikka islam from zulu nation produced songs on ICE T albums . old school legend gangster rapper kool g rap had sir jinx worked on his perhaps secodn album but producers always travel to work with artists outside their city. DJ Premier is from Texas but made his name in NY producing many hits for artists made his name in the 90's. he even worked on MC eiht record two years ago. easy mo bee is the only producer who made songs with Biggie and Pac on their records things like that. Cypress Hill made thier first smash hit in the bronx in 1991. many west coast artists till this day got love for eric b and rakim, big daddy kane, public enemy, ll cool j, nice and smooth epmd. lets stop the hate.

dont forget Steve lobel managed bone thugs co found Nipsey Hustle and represented many west coast acts. he was a former roadie for Run DMC. he from Queens. Jay z wrote still dre for Dr. Dre. i know you must be a teenager or early 20's. its too many east west and mid and south rappers who put in a lot work in early and late 90's in fact Snoop dominance was more so early 90's before Pac then faded a little. you had too many 90's rappers making noise. im not talking album sales cause Vanilla ice sold millions of albums dont mean he a legend either. although Ice Cube and nwa made a lot of noise in the late 80's and Cube went to NY to work with public Enemy producers to make his solo effort after leaving NWA and afterwards Cube work with other people and change his style several times each record. although he was dominant. the reason why 90's was special cause many rappers were making waves and had their own style. Cypress Hill made noise to under ground rappers like Gang Starr to from Tribe, Epmd, Eazy,Redmen, LL cool j,Fugees, to Boot Camp Click,Geto Boys Underground Kings to Nas to Hieroglyphics, Pharcyde, to Das Efx. its sad folks dont know their history

@@jknumber5138 i see your point. personally dont go for record slaes and also the 90;s had lots of artists from the Fugees to Cypress Hill . THe crazy thing is that MC Hammer Vanilla ICe sold millions of albums and they werent traditional hip hop. NAS loved by many nationwide went platinum but didnt sell more than vanilla ice so you cant go by album sales. and in the 90;s there was never ONE dominant rapper. it was always a collective. snoop reach his height early 90's not late 90's. you have to give credit to west coast like Steve Lobel from queens ny who was a roadie from RUN DMC. he managed bone thugs, he was manaer to various west caost artists and you can look him up he co managed Nipsey Hustle. ICE cube was not the only rapper that dominated the 90's. by the way, pac knew ice cube low key hated on pac. pac acknowldge that. thats public record. also BOMB SQUAD from Public ENemy worked on ICE CUBE first solo album.my favorite west coast group was Digital Underground.
