- When I made the move from Utah to Florida I knew I wanted to continue reel mowing my lawn lower than 1" so I decided I was going to go with bermuda for my grass type. After looking at several options Bimini looked like a great option. So we reached out to Bethel Farms and had a truck load delivered. This video shows what all we did to get the old grass out and the prep to put the new stuff in. You don't HAVE to have a skid steer but man it would have been rough had we not had it. I am not and definitely do not pretend to be a pro at driving a skid steer so if you are good at it it will make your life so much easier!

I think the one thing I learned is that it's best to outsource the tear out. Throwing sod isn't easy but tearing out is even worse! The rewards are worth it for sure though.

Does Brett know about the FL fert bans we have from June 1-Sept 30th? Or are you going to have an I told you so follow up on LCN next October? Gonna be interesting on that reel mowed bermuda! Maybe it can be nursed along just enough with X-Soil? I think the fert bans are what's making Zoysia popular. I can nurse the zoysia along just fine on 0-0-2 microgreene

I did this exact thing to my back-yard this fall using the Toro Dingo with a bucket. It was really tough to not go too deep, and I had to bring in 12 cu yards of dirt to fix / level. I sodded with TifTuf Bermuda, and am hoping for the best! Thanks for the great video! I will be watching closely to learn how to properly nurse along the new sod.

Not a little different from KBG. It is night and day. However, my Bermuda is so much easier to take care of than my Tall Fescue (though I miss its deep dark blades).
I just cut out all my front yard using the same machine... it's no joke! That's going to look sweet, Brett. Looking forward to the progress.

A mini backhoe with a flat blade would have made that job a 1000 times better, it is much more precise, then you load up the old grass in the skid steer and carry it away. You could have removed the grass without taking excess soil. Soil is very heavy and takes up too much room in the dumpster.
Wow how much did u pay to sod weeds? Y get rid of all the weeds only to spend money to put down fancy weeds?

We put some starter fert on it after. Allyn shows it in his next video.
Yard looks really good! Lots of work for sure but after a few days it already looks beautiful. How low are you going to attempt to mow it??

If you are up for it, try keeping a small section at putting green height.. I'd be interested to see how the Bermuda would respond to that short of a cut
