Technically, Auto is not evil. If anything, it is being the perfect robot : protecting humankind. It follows its directive to the letter, and the directive said "do not return to Earth". It was not evil, just following orders. It could not understand its directive was meaningless because it's all it knew.
Auto may not of been evil as an entity but Auto's actions were evil in that it resorted to the most violent and unethical solutions to its problems, such as trapping people against their will and destroying Wall-E.. so while Auto as a robot may be amoral its acts were definitely evil in the traditional sense of harming others.
His actions are evil so he is evil indirectly, not directly but indirectly. It shows us that one should not be careless with artificial intelligence and certainly not careless with the issuing of orders. You would tell an artificial intelligence that it should maintain the environment and nature, it would wipe out humanity
If you saw in the earlier scene where she zapped him, his battery level started beeping due to overflowing and he was stunned for a moment. That zap she gave him at the end overcharged him again, causing whatever was ”right” with him now (working as a WALL-E unit is supposed to) to go ”wrong” again. It’s almost like a glitch causing him to load a different save file.
I liked how the film shows both sides of technology - Wall-E and EVE are how technology can benefit humanity and the Earth, meanwhile AUTO is what happens when technology goes too far and becomes destructive to both humanity and the Earth.
I agree the whole "Define Dancing" sequence with Wall-E and Eve outside the ship is one of the most beautiful and poetic scenes Pixar's ever created. :)

Not sure if you watched the end credits “Evolution” bit until the normal credits rolled. If not, please do. For me, of all the tear jerking moments if this film, the end of that little credits reel makes me cry every time without fail. Great reaction, as always Sir!
It's one of Pixar's most beautiful movies! The animation and details as you pointed out at the beginning, are just stunning. And so many messages, about technology, and conservation and care for the earth! Interestingly, the Captain's exploration of what earth was like through the computer Data base shows the positive technology and how it can be used for good things! I'm so glad you watched this and enjoyed it! Btw, there is a Pixar short called "Burn•E" that is related to the movie, and is the events of Wall•E shown from a different robot's perspective, it is hilarious, and you will love it! It would be awesome if you did a short reaction piece to it, but mostly, if nothing else, watch it for yourself! It's great! Thank you for doing this. It's one of my favorite movies, so it made me happy to watch it with you!
I KNEW you would LOVE this one! One of the best animated films ever made! And it's a political sci-fi/love story! With robots! And the animation is ridiculously great! When robots can be more human than humans, that is saying something. But more than anything, this film shows that love indeed has no boundaries. That it's what you do, not what you are that matters. This is also a great easter egg for sci-fi nerds. It has things &/or hints from Alien, 2001, SW, Star Trek you name it. The female computer voice is Sigourney Weaver herself! WALL-E & all the sounds you hear is made by legendary SW sound guru Ben Burrt. This is by far the best Pixar movie ever made. And just that half the film passes before we get some proper dialogue & you are still heavily invested before then shows what movies always should do; show, don't tell!
and actually the quote is - “That's one small step for a man. One giant leap for mankind.” the recorder wasn't working properly so the a part wasn't audible.
When you think of Pixar, most people think Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Cars, Inside Out, Up, maybe Coco, but few ever mentioned this movie. Easily Pixar at its best. Not only did they made robots adorable, but gave an environmental message that's relevant now more than ever.
Claptrap? I thought Wall-E looked much more like Johnny Five from Short Circuit. Loved Wall-E. Great reaction. This movie has always been two love stories in my eyes 🥹 Yes, Wall-e and Eve. BUT ALSO, I wish they would have showed this a little more, humans (specifically the captain) falling back in love with Earth. He wants to nurture Her and make her better again and if that didn’t make me ball my eyes out 🥲🌏❤️
If your into disney and sci fi movies assuming you have not already seen it I would suggest the movie ( Tomorrowland ) in my opinion a highly underrated movie with a good moral story.
I love in the message that we're so distracted by technology nowadays which is absolutely true that we don't even realize it there is exercise equipment there's a pool everything we need to stay healthy on the ship but we're so distracted by technology that we miss everything
Nah, the ship isn't evil. It's just following the directives it's been given. It hasn't had the opportunity to 'wake up' like Wall-E, EVE, the captain, those defective robots and other people did. It's just been doing what it was made and told to do. I don't think there's a single 'evil' entity in the movie, just apathy.

@@StickySauce101 Definitely. I'm not excusing it's actions because it might not be considered evil (that's a slippery slope that I don't want to touch here). They were the wrong actions.
