It is worth adding that legendary items scale with the top TWO scroll counts. So a spread of 6-10-1 scales with 16 and 3-10-4 scales with 14. So if you have/gamble on a legendary it is also worth focusing scrolls on one secondary stat instead of spreading evenly for HP

The biggest advice I can give is: never panic. Damage in this game, especially 2bc and up, can absolutely snowball and destroy even if you were at max health, but there are very few situations you cannot escape from. For instance, there's this big skeleton with a black hood and a sword, don't remember their name, but they have a 3 hit combo: if you're caught and try to mash roll, you get the full combo, but if you time it right, you can escape, retreat and regroup
In general the training room from the latest update is a great boon, use it if you need to test stuff. Oh and one more thing: armadillo pack is one of the best mutations in the game, but picking it does not mean you are forced to only keep shields in your backpack. There is value in keeping a shield in an active slot

Whilst the tip about having all of your gear line up with your main stat is a good one. I'd say that there is a lot of room to play around with off colour gear too as utility and synergy. Shields, weapons that inflict debuffs, ice armour and coccoon work well off colour

include ice shards with brutality and rapier.

    • @RandomTomatoMusic
      @RandomTomatoMusic Před rokem +1

To add to this, off-colour mutations can also work very well. Crow's Feet and Tactical Retreat, while they do scale off of Tactics, are particularly useful in Survival since they slow enemies (Crow's Feet especially since the duration is longer and it's easier to implement). If you have flasks to spare, you can combine Tainted Flask (Brutality) and Extended Healing (Survival) to get a better damage boost than you would with either alone. (On a side note, Extended Healing completely negates the reduced healing from Emergency Triage.)

  • @gaminggeckos4388
    @gaminggeckos4388 Před 2 lety +12

0:31 Though, keep in mind that there can be exceptions to this for certain items/mutations.
For example, Ice Armor will always block 1 source of damage in the next 8 seconds. The only thing that increases is the damage of the ice explosion released upon taking a hit. So even if you have zero green scrolls, it’s still AMAZING for clearing curses.
Armadillopack still always lets you party with rolling; the only thing that increases is the percent of the shield’s damage is dealt. So, it’s still great for parrying attacks when you don’t have a shield equipped.
Extended Healing and Gastronomy always increases your flask’s healing from 60% to 85% and add +65% to the effects of food, respectively. The only thing that increases with additional green scrolls is the damage boost after using a flask and recycling food, respectively. So, they’re still great picks for if you’re struggling with the shortage of flask refills on higher BCs.
Wow, all four of these examples are for Survival, huh… Well, there’s still other times when off-color choices can be beneficial, but these are some of the best, imo.

Adding onto the “take your time tip”:
Please, and i cant stress this enough, TAKE YOUR TIME ON THE SECOND ZONE YOU GO INTO, most of the time you will have until the 8 minute mark (if you want to get the bonus) to get there. If you find the entrance to the third level, dont go until youre sure you have the most amount of power scrolls you can find. Theres a reason theres a teleporter near it.

It also applies to the cursed sword, making it a beast for grinding runs.

I played for about 50 hours (kinda marathoned when I was free), 2 BSC now, already got all these points, and must say your video is immensely helpful.
    Things to note/add:
    - LEARN TO PARRY EFFICIENTLY (a real life saver).
    - calm down and run with your comfortable pace.
    - don't panic when you get cursed. This is what get you killed in the first place. Also cursed chests are actually quite helpful.
    - run through challenge portals since they give you an additional power scroll
    - choose a long route to the Throne to be able to collect as many powerups as possible.
    - don't focus too much on opening timed/killstreak doors, since this disrupts your rhythm quite a bit. However try to open at least 30/60 flawless kills ones, this is a good practice before higher BSC and also will give you some beefy gear.
    - learn boss fight tactics, high dps is great but further into BSC they're substantially harder to deal with.
    - expect spending as much time on your next successful game runs as on your first one.
    - Rapier is the best boss-killer for me right now (I dodge roll like crazy anyway, so always have criticals with it). Katana and Bone are the best mob slayers.

While it may seem like that your first time going through a new biome or on lower BC, several of these biomes (like Promenade or Stilt Village) can actually be harder than their alternatives, and many biomes complement certain styles of builds.

I have around 110 hours in "Dead Cells" and now I think that true fun, as Dwarf Fortress community says, dying (losing) is fun, starts when you have 2 boss stem cells. I'm on my second big run thorough the game and I'm on 1 boss stem cells with relatively small numbers of items (weapons, skills and mutations) and two potions (since dying is fun). I'm finding beating games in such circumstances more challenging then before, so I decided to finally learn "Dead Cells" mechanics in depth and to learn from others. Discovering things yourself is fun, but if I didn't find something after 100 hours of play, I can learn from others with clear gamer conciseness. Thank you for this video, I already learned a lot.

That being said, I've played all FS games and rougelikes/lites and my strat is always go the safe route when and learning the ropes, only after that do I focus on going for the high damage output builds.

in dead cells mobile there are some interesting mechanics:
-Undo death is entirely possible if you quit to the homescreen before the body desecrate, close the app and reopen and you can redo the biome from the last door
-Auto hit mode makes it unnecessary to use health flask when you still have health in the main parts of the game,as it allows for death cheating,if you still have a flask charge on auto hit mode, you can't die without curse
-Reroll the reroll by using the same process as death undoing

I'm gonna be honest and it's hard to say it but I've been playing this game for months and I've been unintentionally playing The game somewhat wrong. After playing dark souls I was referred by a friend to get dead cells and I love it but I like to not look up guides unless I really have to. I know it can save me a lot of time but now I have seen I was making so many unintentional mistakes it really does look like a different game when I started looking at guide's. I didn't know for one grabbing power scrolls actually buffs enemy's in the later levels. Half this video had many items and enemies I yet to come across and I've put so much time and effort I feel not foolish but just shocked at what this game has to offer. Jesus the amount of info i obtained. I feel so naked it after watching this video and many other guides, like all my past game experience meant nothing.

#11 Don't prioritize getting the Timed/Speedrun door. VERY COMMON MISTAKE because these doors reward new players for the wrong thing. They end up teaching players the wrong lesson.
    - Rushing the stage makes you miss scrolls.
    - Running past enemies won't teach you how to fight them properly.
    - The weapon/skill rewards inside the door won't be as powerful anyway if you keep missing/skipping scrolls.

I'm a noob who just picked up the game yesterday, but what you said sounds about right. I got to the throne room on literally my first run, with no clue what I was doing. Then I died, of course... and spent some time exploring and unlocking stuff. But fighting that boss in the training hall has been pretty easy, so I think I'm probably ready to try again.
Edit: I went back today to try a second time, and finished without too much difficulty. Also found out it gives an achievement for having an unused YOLO at the end, oops. I mostly used the Star Wars force lightning weapon for DPS, but paired it with a ground turret which causes bleeding, and a tentacle pet, and a fire ... um thingy. Firebrand? I should really pay more attention to what things are called. Anyway, kinda just waiting for the credits to finish while I write this.
      ...
OMG, LOL... I just realized what the credits are doing. That's hilarious.
