Alright... Let's set the record straight here. Nobody knows exactly how old Howard was! She could be been anywhere between 17 and 19 when she died.. Which makes her story all the more saddening. Now, what I'm about to delve into may not be completely correct, but I'm using facts that are agreed soon by a majority of historians. If you disagree with anything that's completely fine, I just gather my information from a large range of sources and averaged them together based on what is agreed by most to be true.

Her music teacher was actually closer to 36 than he as to 23. I have no idea why they changed this or where their information came from, but he was very much so a creepy old man. And because Howard's exact age is unknown, she could've been anywhere from 12 to 14 though 13 or 12 is the most likely. This relationship was completely NOT consensual on Howard's part. she was a child, and he had a position of power over her. It is believed he threatened her with violence, and with telling the duches (her grandmother) that she had come on to him. It is believed they never technically had sex, but he did touch her in places she DID NOT want to be touched at that age and let alone by him.

Francis was also significantly older than howard, being 41 when him and Culpeper were executed. Resources, stories, and first hand records of what happened at the time all range wildly. What is known though, is that Howard was likely not into it from the beginning, or decided she didn't like it anymore and was forced to continue with their relationship. Either way, she at some point decided he wasn't the one for her, and didn't have a way to leave yet. He called her wife, and even left her in charge of his money while he was away. They never had a wedding though, and records of if they were promised to eachother or not are unreliable because of all the testimonies given during her trial. Either way, no matter what happened, she wasn't into him in the end and shouldn't have been with him because she was likely only 14 or 15 and he was a grown man. Their relationship ended when her music teacher became aware of the relationship and got jealous that the young girl was no longer under his control and told the dowager duches what was happening behind closed doors, which ended with Francis being sent away. He promised to mary her when she came back. Her response to this is unknown.

Culpeper... Oh boy! This guy.. Was an asshole. They met in secret while she was a lady in waiting to anne of cleves, and had a sexual relationship. This one was consensual on her part, though her image of him was warped from reality. She saw him as a friend, as an older man who respected her, as someone she could trust with her heart and body. She was wrong. Their affair came to an end for a short period of time when she became queen, but started up again. Her lady in waiting (anne Boleyn's previous sister in law) helped them meet up in secret and sent letters back and fourth. It is believed that this lady in waiting (Jane Rochford ) and Culpeper were sleeping together as well and making jokes of katherine's letters. This was really all a big joke on Katherine, meant to embarrass her. This lines up well since Culpeper was jealous his plans to marry her had fallen through and jane held a grudge over katherine's first cousin (anne Boleyn) for not helping her out of her marriage to Anne's brother, which she was very unhappy in. In the end they were caught and well.. We know how it ends.

I'm short, her life was shit. She was used, abused, and made a mock of her entire short life. Based on her behavior and most first hand accounts and records of her, it's belived she died closer to 17 then to 19. Her last words were "I die a queen but I'd rather die the wife of Thomas Culpeper" which is. . Just tragic knowing now he never truly cared for her. All three men mentioned above, and jane Rochford, were all executed a few days before Katherine Howard was beheaded.

A different report I read though said that it was potentially believed that Thomas was blackmailing her to continue the relationship and that she died for promiscuity before her and Henry were married, not because of Thomas. I could be wrong though as well, this was just from an article I read :)
The part about her last words is folklore. Eyewitness accounts said she just said the traditional final words, saying that she deserved to die âa thousand deathsâ and to spare her family and pray for her soul.
Sheâs also not typically estimated to have died at 17, thatâs a pretty rare estimate, as sheâs estimated to have been born between 1518 and 1524 and died in 1542. Sheâs generally presumed to have been 18 to 20.
They abused her trust, her body, and her love. I for one feel bad for her and I feel like she deserves better.

What's funny is that Henry was actually pretty attractive when he was younger, *so around Kathrine's age. He was quite active with his favourite sport being jousting, but a head injury forced him to quit. Sadly, that head injury may have contributed to his anger issues later in life, and to his health deteriorating.

The only problem with that is that we don't even have Kathrine H's portrait.
Honestly I feel terrible for K Howard because her body, trust and love were all abused from such a young age, and she got beheaded before she even hit her mid-20s. Then to hear her verse in Six was even more heartbreaking, as it could never happen.

I always love the shift in tone with Thomas as she realises that sheâs had enough. I love it she deserved so much more. And that ending screen with the axe is an amazing but brutal ending like her life â€ïž
I have actually watched this like 90 times. Itâs my favorite animatic because it really shows the transition of emotions she goes through in the song and shows Katherineâs real age and how young and innocent she was... itâs perfect. And the bloody axe at the end is just wow.

Donât get me wrong, I love the art style and the fluidity of the animation... but... this animatic seems too sweet and wholesome considering the content of the song. All her abusers are, like other commenters have pointed out, drawn as attractive. Most of the innuendos seem to be taken literally. Obviously I wasnât expecting a softcore, but some imagery to go with the wordplay would have been nice.
Still a very pretty looking animatic though, it reminded me of a music video which I loved.

Fun fact about Howard: The night before she was beheaded, she was found practicing how to place her head on the board so sheâd look pretty while being killed. (Howard is a major beauty queen, and my favorite of the Six wives)
