Here comes the Tantacrul subs... (great tutorial btw)
Thank you! Did Tantacrul give me a bump? That's awesome! Looking for it now. Thanks for the heads up.
@@SimonHutchinson not exactly, but databending was mentioned in his newest video. Made me super curious! Really enjoyed your video :)
@@SimonHutchinson he linked this video in the description of his newest video about audacity
@@SimonHutchinson I came for the same reason (the fact that Tantacrul mentioned databending made me really curious about how it is done) lol. So yeah... probably a lot more Tantacrul subs will look for this video.
@@Xyz-77 Ha! Good to know. Thanks! I'll have to send him some chocolates or something.
Ok. Here is my blue thumbs up! This technique is amazing! _Abraços do Brasil_
Thank you! Cheers!
this is so cool, thank you!
Wonderful stuff, man!
Thank you kindly!
Fantastic Simon!
Thanks, Roland! And thanks for watching!
Such an easy way to find new sounds. I'm sitting hear sampling foobar2000 playlist files... brilliant😄
Glad you like it!
@@SimonHutchinson so... I went down a ridiculous sampling rabbit hole with these concepts and ended up making this (1 of 2 so far):
czcams.com/video/m_G2RPGSHLY/video.html&ab_channel=bringerofDOOM
All derived from the first few sec of an exe file render. Thanks again for the great ideas.
Thanks for this nice tutorial
Thanks for watching!
Ace! Cheers. Lee
Thank you!
Like the end result Simon! :)
I never been so excited to try something out!!!
Excellent! Share what you come up with!
Why don't you got more clout man!?
The way you put your video together is very clean and easy to understand!
Thanks! Feel free to spread the word!
OMG - dude this is super sick :D
need to try serum fx / comb- reverb filters and izotope trash on this stuff... yes and lotts of OTT xD
so interresting, tnx a lot! Peace
I like to do .exe files with Audacity, because you always get very similar sounds, but in different places and with slightly different sounds.
dude I'm so happy I found your channel. I'm a sound designer and just finished your tutorial series for beginner Reaktor primary and using all that to help me build a sampler. This is next level. My general understanding of audio and synthesis was pretty okay but you are helping me unlock so many doors thank you!
Awesome! So glad I could help!
I'm actually blown away by how cool this is. I've learned so much
I recommend opening power point presentations -> pure madness muHAHAHA, love it :>
"noise is the unconsciousness of music" oww this is a pretty nice definition for noise as an artistic expression
I know! Right? 😃
This is interesting
I know, right?
2 days ago I became a subscriber. Today I became a fan. What's next?
Ha! Thanks I appreciate it. I'm not sure what the tiers are (subscriber, fan, etc.), but always glad to hear these videos are helpful.
Thats dope
The way you applied it to pd was great wow
Fantastic work!
and is there a way to convert the audio back to a .psd file again? this would be cool for puzzles or something.
That's an interesting idea. I don't actually know much about .psd files, but I would guess that they might be pretty delicate (i.e. easy to corrupt beyond readability). They've got all that photoshop info about layers, etc. But, check out Part 4 of these videos, and I do show some stuff with working with .bmp files in Audacity (and audio files in photoshop)!
Yes, but you should know how the file is made. Generally speaking there is a part for flags and info, and one for data. If you mess with the data you can get pretty good shit. For example try using the pictures, with different extensions. Open them up in audacity, apply some audio effects in the middle(where there is no header) and save it back in the same format. That will give you some glitch effects on the image
@@SimonHutchinson stay away from the start of the file
sweeet
The end of the PSD file is literally just dubstep.
Ha! Totally!
everything I try to import ends up as static noise. does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Maybe try some different file types. I started out with JPGs, and had that exact problem.
Burst of scribble sound. "Let's call that one our snare". Laughing!! I am in the right place
Welcome!
That second psd is FULL ON DnB action!
Right? Those .psd files are the best!
Gives me some slight death grips vibes
Ha! Yes! I didn't think about that, but you're right!
@@SimonHutchinson 5:10 especially
wOOOOOOOOOO
Does a .blend file work with this?
I've never tried, but it certainly should. The only question is whether you'll get something interesting or not!
Welp I've tried it and it's terrifying aka very interesting. I'm planning on using these sounds for some analog horror projects I have in the works. thanks for teaching me how to do this!
@@jackindustriesanimates Ha! Excellent! Glad to hear it. Sounds like a great project!
I did this for an entire evening and felt really uncomfortable. Listening to digital artifacts for hours is horrifying
Yes! For some, at least to start, small doses might be best. There are a bunch of those found-footage horror films that use these kinds of effects in their sound design. I'm blanking on a concrete example off the top of my head, but they're in there.
4:27 the sound that follows is a fire beat like omg
gotta love some music corruptions
I could not agree more.
Oh god my headphones are dying😂
Ha! I think I say to make sure you turn things down!
I'm going to destroy dubstep with this.
I do not like at 4:33 when you can imagine human screams.
