      Me too. Trust me, every single soldier or marine has at LEAST one day like this, mostly more. Out of nowhere you get an overwhelming sense of dread that you're going to die and freak out. I had multiple days during my 3 deployments like this. I just kept it to myself mostly.
      I'll tell you another crazy thing about war. One day your bravery will be insanely high. You'll run through automatic fire to take it out or help a buddy who's been hit. Then you'll turn around another day and have to will yourself to take a step over and over. It fucks with your mind badly. That's why a lot of us feel stuck and we can't shake it. I'm still fucked up 9 years later.

    Honestly, I think this scene was needed. The entire movie, he was nothing but a dick, and when he finally showed a bit of humanity at the end, it felt like they were forcing the scene to try and squeeze out some empathy for his character when he died. Instead, it came off as "oh look, he's human after all, now he's going to die."

    I know this movies gets a lot of flak from inaccuracies and "propaganda", but if there's one thing this movie got right is show what the horrors of war are kind of like, PTSD, gruesome unexpected deaths, loss of innocent lives. One of the reasons why I loved Fury was because of the gritty grungy dark tone of the film that not many war films nail.

    • @poindexter5222
      @poindexter5222 Před 7 lety +127

      VΛRZ It's not "propaganda" in any way, a propaganda film would not have the allies raping and pillaging a town, a propaganda movie would not have a scene where a German pow gets shot in the back while he begs for mercy and shows pictures of his family, I agree with you this movie is probably one of the best war movies of all time and is criminally underrated. Most of the people who hate on this movie are wehabroos.

    • @thunderstruck8087
      @thunderstruck8087 Před 7 lety +16

      RENZ - I agree with you, I enjoyed the gritty dark tone of the movie. I saw it opening day and then told my brother to go see it. He did, and then told me he didn't like it because it was too dark and gruesome. He said, "Who the hell directed this film, Tarantino?" I said no, the director is the one who also wrote it, 10 years prior to the movie being made, and he was a veteran, a submariner. My brother then watched the movie again later and had changed his mind about it, and he now likes the movie.

    • @thunderstruck8087
      @thunderstruck8087 Před 7 lety +20

      Murder Inc. - I agree with you. In the movie they shot the German POW in the back partly because he was wearing an American overcoat. In war time, wearing the enemy's uniform is an offense punishable by death. There have been movies made, like Saving Private Ryan and Lone Survivor, where letting the enemy POW go was a very fatal mistake, where they then come back to kill you. If I were in battle, I would have a very hard time letting the enemy go only to fight against you again. It doesn't make sense, and I hope our military has learned a few lessons from that mistake (Lone Survivor was a TRUE story) and have changed some of their protocols and policies. I agree that this movie is very underrated.

    • @michaelmorris8350
      @michaelmorris8350 Před 7 lety +84

      Rams4life94 to be honest I think it was a pretty realistic depiction of late 1945 sort of desperate, tiring and sluggish combat apart from some small nit picks like how the Sherman high velocity 76mm gun couldn't penetrate the Tigers 80mm of side amour at almost point blank range.

    • @Rams4life94
      @Rams4life94 Před 7 lety +72

      To be clear; I really liked this movie. But I can't imagine a Tiger leaving its advantageous position and meeting the Shermans in the field. Also that SS battalion would have decimated that immobile Sherman at the end in like three minutes with panzerfausts instead of basically charging it.

    • @michaelmorris8350
      @michaelmorris8350 Před 7 lety +32

      Rams4life94 That is true yes. But I think the SS battalion might have though it had infantry support and they got ambushed because they couldn't see very well because it was dark and frosty or something because they were firing machines guns and rifles. I I don't believe anyone is stupid enough to shoot bullets at a tank. But I believe it was more for to make the climax of the movie interesting and stuff. And I agree the tiger commander did have some major autism when he left his hull down position but it was probably because they fired smoke rounds at it and he couldn't see them. And the tiger commander knew the tactics of shermans by now and he probably wanted to get sight of them as soon as possible.

    Jon Bernthal lowkey killed it in this movie. They probably cut this scene bc it would be "out of character" for his tough guy persona, but imo its not out of character, its building it. It only seems out of character bc it wasn't in the movie. If all they did was leave this scene in that alone would have added so much depth to him, if they added like 1 or 2 more scenes or even just a couple more lines of dialogue where he isn't busting balls it would have been perfect. I loved this movie regardless.
