I went to one earlier that makes you practice with dummy rounds before they give you the real deal but they let you shoot anything you want in there collection for free just pay the rounds and range time
Did this with a friend of mine she wanted to get her first gun, we went to our LGS and just told them that she was looking for her first gun and I let them both do their own thing. I'm knowledgeable about guns, but not to the extent they are. And it turns out the person helping her is a retired sheriff talk about a fucking win lol
I've met officers who know less about guns than the average gun owner. I swear one in my town never touches one outside of work. So it doesn't mean much if they're an officer or ex officer.. Knowing the few you work with means squat if the only other ones you touch are to log into evidence.

Some law enforcement only handle their service weapon and nothing else, which makes no sense like what happens if you're in a gun fight and you run dry but there's another gun but you don't know how to use it. That's why I was glad that he actually knew what he was talking about, and if not, I have a couple of friends and cousins in law enforcement/military but in the end of the day it's your responsibility to know how you own guns work, train and practice with them
I went to a range and asked to rent a FNP90 to shoot. I asked the person behind the counter how to load the weapon and he literally looked like this guy not knowing how to load it. Ive never touched an FNP90 and i loaded it just fine and his dumbself was making the mag point upward with the roud sticking up. Ive never been so disappointed in humanity.
Went in to buy an M&p 10mm, guy tries to persuade me to get the g20 instead. I told him I didn’t want that as it has an unsupported chamber and there is currently a lawsuit from them blowing. He was arguing me up and down that he’d never heard about it until I showed him everything on Google. I was thinking to myself, how a gun expert like himself wouldn’t know they had unsupported chambers. Left with the m&p that has a supported chamber. I own other Glocks, one in 10mm won’t be one of them.

I’m a regular range shooter since I’m a kid, a few months back me and a couple friends went to a range in nj we got a 17 and a rifle, two of my friends swore they’ve been shooting their whole life, turns out they didn’t even know how to load a mag, most embarrassing moment I’ve had in a while I had to get them an instructor 💀
Don't fully agree with that there's alot more safety to be learned with those plus with the wrong grip they could quite literally take off their finger tip from the cylinder gap
Funny!, I got really into firearms about 8 years ago and I still ask a lot of questions from my vet and law enforcement friends who have way more experience than me and I’m not ashamed to say that, be humble and learn but never be a know it all unless you’re the real deal 🤣🤣
I just help my daughter buy her first handgun. All i did was guide her towards the quality brands and let her choose which one felt right for her. She ended up going with tje springfield hellion
I work at a gun range it's like this everyday, the mister know it all boyfriend. Then they come back in and ask all sorts of questions with no wife or GF.
When i was doing my test the seller asked me to load dummy rounds into a magazine and load the gun I was done before he finished his instructions I wondered why he was so surprised until I saw someone like this
My expert opinion is you never know to much to ask for help with guns you are not familiar with. There is no point in announcing " I'm an expert" when just checking things out. You save that statement for IF you have a conversation and IF they ask how you know so much IF you truly do know enough to make them ask.
the girl's male assistant could also be a beginner who already had his gun, but isn't that well trained and needs more training and learning. but i think it's fine as long as he follows the rules, not breaking the law and not being cruel and violent lol

It's like going to the range and being next to a new shooter who is being taught by their "experienced friend." I've been through 3 LE academies and I cringe every time.
Had this happen to me once, I was so embarrassed. Came home on leave from the Army and went to the range with some friends who had never shot before. After giving them an at home safety course, and proper firearm handling, I brought them down to the range. For the first half an hour everything’s going alright, and there’s some sheriff’s shooting in the lanes next to us for the whole hour. I let the RSO & Sheriff’s know I had to use the restroom and they were inexperienced shooters so they might need some help or have a question. Apparently the 5-10 minutes I was gone they decided it was time to act up and fuck around, if I didn’t know the people there at the range I probably would’ve been kicked out, but because I was so embarrassed I packed us up and we left. Literally right next to sheriffs, trying to see if someone could do trick shots ( like horse in basketball, do some ridiculous manipulations then shoot ), shooting handguns sideways, basically just being retards, which to be fair I was only 20 at the time as were they, so I shouldn’t have expected them to be mature outstanding adults. But still to this day the most embarrassed I’ve ever been at a range to the point it made me leave. Like you can have fun and fuck around but time, place, and experience. An indoor range, next to sheriff’s, your first time shooting? No go. Outdoor range, plenty of multi directional spacing between you and someone else, and if you’re experienced. I’m not saying horse isn’t good training material, because we used to play horse on range days for different firing positions ( ie shot in left arm, Tourniquet, laying on the ground , right hand only firing 2 shots. Good real world training, and you compare scores at the end, but that’s not what was happening here )
