  • G'day big, beautiful world. Today something of a twofer. The CAS Cub in both the wheeled and floatplane variants. Hop on board as we take a sedate run around the 1935 San Francisco from Redwings.

Great to see that you are enjoying the Cub! A few comments on some of the problems you're experiencing:
Flying with windows and doors open: you need to disable airframe overstress (I think that's what it's called) in the options of MSFS. That has been implemented so poorly by Asobo that you practically never can fly with open windows, an open canopy, or even an open storm window. It also sometimes causes weird "you have crashed" scenarios that don't seem quite right. So all in all, it's a "feature" that is best to deactivate.
Starting the engine: I wonder if you have some control bindings that are interfering. That might also explain why the engine doesn't shut down. When you switch on the magnetos and pull through the prop it doesn't sound like the magnetos are firing at all. Check your controls for magnetos and your controls for mixture, maybe it's one of those that is messing things up.
As for the airspeed not working: I can't quite make it out on screen, but the pitot tube cover might still be in place. BTW, it's fun to do a walkaround of the plane. You can manually check the oil, remove the chocks, remove the tie-downs, move the control surfaces, and remove the pitot tube cover. For this to work you'll need to stay in cockpit view however, not switch to external view. There are instrument views for all of the walkaround stations, but personally I'm just moving the view around manually for the fun of it.

Will implement all of the above! cheers, mate. And yeah, it certainly is a keeper that puts you in the zone.

For the Cub I have the same issue with the door causing a crash like you. Other than that no issues. It has state saving so you do need to use the tablet to check oil etc at the start of each flight.
For the 1935 scenery you'll get the overlap if there's a custom model for the airport in msfs. I simply uninstall these in content manager as I never use modern airports. The other option is to user addon linker to switch between modern and 1935. There's a conversation on the redwing discord at the moment on how to do it. I'm as computer inept as you can get and managed to get the addon linker working with their help.

Grand advice. I've looked at the add-on linker in the past. I'll give it another crack. Cheers!
