Looks like you went the Audient in the end (2023 video) vs ssl. Care to share why?
@rmc6424 the iD24 is the perfect portable interface imo, all the quality of the competition with insert returns so you can connect outboard gear and bypass the pres. That said I'm actually back to my 10+ year old Steinberg UR824 rack interface and even today it still sounds amazing
@@JacobDarkOfficial thank you for the reply, I have a rme ucxii but im looking at the ssl 12 for portability and extra pres, any opinion on ssl 12 vs id24 vs steinberg ur824?
@@rmc6424 The Steinberg isn't portable so if it were me I'd go iD24 for the extra features

The visuals and the presentation is top notch! Jacob done came a long way! 1 of the best reviewers and super honest and transparent audio guys on CZcams! Thank you!
3:01 Personally I love the inclusion of RCA ports, like you can quickly test your mixes on popular PC speakers like Audioengine and Edifier which is a super important part of DIY-mastering your own music.. the way i do it before i upload my songs on spotify, KRK monitors, airpods, JBL bluetooth speaker, Edifier PC speakers, best selling Logitech crappy PC speakers, Laptop and last but not least in my car, if it sounds good in my car then the song is finished.
I think that is exactly the point of those ports. All I would add is ADAT I/O.
Hey,
can u give me ur settings or some tips?
I got a Id14 Mkii, Shure Sm7B, Fethead and record with Adobe Audition. Thank you!
This is the exact comparison I was looking for, great video thank you
Coming from a focusrite scarlett solo my new ssl 2+ blew it out the water. Better sounding vocals and recording ability being that it has its own headphone and speaker monitor volume control so I don't have to turn off my speakers everytime I wanna record some bars.
Interesting, yeah. The SSL2+ would've been my choice going into this comparison, but I'm still a bit surprised here. Thanks for your insight, bro...
Thank you for the great review!
Great comparison video! the two sets of monitor output was a smart move on Audient's side!
Great video you explain everything so perfect thanks for helping me decide 🙏🏾💯
Lovely video... Thanks surely to solid prep and hard work. Thank you!
Really helpful video. I've just ordered the SSL2 as I like to be able to adjust the line level outside of software and the SSL also lets you adjust monitors and headphones independently. The perfect portable unit
Went for the Audient, i dont need to record instruments or vocals. So the sound output was the defining factor for me. Thanks for the video!
Just for playback?
thank you very much for the video!🖤
Hi Jacob, thanks for the comparison but one question: how about the bandwidth or frequency response. Or isn't it that relevant?
Thanks, Lucas
🔥Bro! Your whole visual is on point and is super crisp! Keep those videos pushing 💪🏽
If you're a bedroom rapper, Pod caster, etc. Get the SSL. If your a Recording Engineer just starting out or want something a little mobile for at home get the Audient. Eventually as a engineer you are going to want to add gear out of the box. Compressors, EQ's PreAmps. This is very very hard to do with the SSL2+ because of the RCA jacks instead of 1/4 inch. Also Voice going in is very important but better conversion on your output is going to lead you to make better choices in mix. Improving quality all around instead of just one element.
except for mobility everything else is BS. its all "air theory", get objective advantage not "potentialy" .
The headroom is already so high these days you won't be able to tell the difference in a blind AB test as far as the conversion on the output... So that's a null statement. Aside from that, it totally depends. These days you can easily do everything in the box, and might even WANT to do everything in the box because it saves space and money, and again, sounds just as good especially in a good mix. The SSL sounds a little bit deeper and shimmery than the Audient, and that is a good enough reason for some people to want to go with it, as well as more tactile button options vs needing sotftware to do basic functions. It also suits some desks better, having your cables come in the back. So you can't just make a blanket statement, some engineers will like the features of the SSL and some will like the Audient and same goes for every "type" of person. Each interface has it's pros, and not really cons just subjective values put in different places.
I no longer can endorse the SSL. Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2 is now hands down the best sounding interface up to the $500+ range. and holds its weight against ADDA like Lynx Aurora. Truely master grade audio interface. If you havent heard one yet... idk.
Thank you for this one!

One is not better than the other!!!
You would get the Adent or SSL 2 Plus for your regular studio needs, preferably the SSL 2+
Then you would use the 476 or 276 Volt for Vocals, hands down the new UAD interface is the Best Vocal Interface, your getting a superior Phantom Pre Amp, a Comp that works good on vocals, and it pro actively tries to shut down latancy on Recording, so.........
Bottom Line
If you want your home studio set up right, for Music Production, Mixing and Vocal Recording
You got to be willing to spend $700 on Motu, Adent, or SSL and UAD Volt.....
Now....Ive got a great Hybrid Producing and Mixing Situation with my SSL 2+ and in my Vocal Closet, I finally have a really good vocal Situation with the Volt 476, so these interfaces are not better or worse than each other, they just have different purposes, and unless, EXP

Have you tested Adat input on Id14?
10 inputs works well? Does latency increase or not? I'm thinking on a mkii just for this possibility.
Great review. Unfortunately you didn't mention anything about phone output quality? I'm currently running two MOTU UltraLite AVBs, but they have an annoying habit suddenly jumping to max volume on first play of any audio which has blown out a couple of Genelec speakers and headphones (yes even with protection). I do voice recording via a shotgun R0DE 48v and do like the MOTU ability to set audio profiles for the mic. But this intermittent problem with my MOTU has me looking for an alternate solution. I do a lot of work with headphones on (I know taboo, but it works for me). So sadly, I'm still undecided ... maybe the Apollo Solo?
Woww.....this is what I wanna see. Will wait for Zen Go vs ID14 mkii
No need for that video, Zen is superior unless you need ADAT
@@JacobDarkOfficial do you need to crank up the gain a bit high with zen go when using your mic???is that introduce noise???
Not anymore than usual
Yup, SSL 2+ all the way! I own one and I love it!

Finally! Thanks!
What about the +10dB boost in the software for the iD14. Does that add up to the 59 so 69? or is it normally 49 + the 10dB?
What about software differences? Does the SSL have a software interface? With the ID14 I can have the headphones on a different DAW output than my monitors, so I can use headphone calibration and switch to my speakers without having to remember to turn off the calibration. Also, the knob and "iD" button on the ID14 can be configured for different functions, like stereo/mono switching or to manipulate DAW controls.
Thank you for the comparison. My Scarlett2i4 is crapping out on me, and do not want to go back to Focusrite products. These were the two I was looking at.

Great job! I need a good sounding audio interface. But there is a problem; I usually use dynamic microphones, for the sake special type of music, famous to have low sensitivity. But some of then like beyerdynamic tgi50d has a nominal impedance of 600 ohm which according to its manual it need a load impedance of at least 2 kohm. So I wonder which of these could help me more ssl2+, audient id14 mkii, or Steinberg ur24c? Moreover, I had decided to buy Steinberg with impedance of 6 kohm, but one of my friends suggested me ssl2+ with 1.2 kohm and audient with 2.8 over the Steinberg. He told me these two are really powerful and their numbers are true. I would appreciate if you could give your idea in this aspect. 🙏
Good video, good edition and clear.
Nice video, I am using this for zoom meetings with a Neumann u87AI microphone, which one do you think would be best just for zoom meetings ? Thanks

@@alexmarianoribeiro hi Alex, can you elaborate on what happened? I have heard good things about the Audient id14, and among the people I've talked to, and they're quite a few, they seem to prefer it over the SSL 2+ or the Motu M4.
Hi man, I´m a musician andI record (I dont mix) in my home studio, between SSl 2 and BLA revolution 2x2. Which one has cooler preamps? I like the sound of both, they both seem to have some mojo and character. I like your videos.

Great review. I concur with you
On the SSL 2, it’s fantastic.
Very aptly compared !👏🏻
Great video! If the SSL2 had 4 outs instead of two, I'd be all over it. I've needed 4 outs for my portable workflow for the last couple of years, and I refused to purchase the Komplete Audio 6, lol. I thought the Audient pres were transparent and clear... But that warmth of the SSL was soooo nice. I need to find an excuse to pick up both :) Also, the id14 includes loopback.
I'd love to see the new black lion interface go against the SSL
Thanks for the video. I'm glad I found your channel!
Welcome aboard! I've reached out to Black Lion, hoping I hear back soon
@@JacobDarkOfficial Cool!!! I'm also interested in a shootout between the SSL2+ (which I own), and the Black Lion Audio interface.
In this test above, I think the Audient might have been sounding punchier, because it has less output volume, so the output volume pot didn't "eat up" the dynamics and the punch that much. I find that when I pull the software volume pot down in the DAW /iTunes, and crank the SSL mains, it becomes much levelier (although less detailed, since the software volume control lessens bit depth, thus decreasing quality)
Also, the input/USB blend pot eats up all the high-end above 15kHz, so I use it cranked all the time, but then I have to pull the mains down to around 3, which eats up some of the dynamics and the low end. (and this is like that even with my monitors in -9dB input sensitivity position.)
I'm eager to hear about the Black Lion, though... I hope the volume pot is better :]
@@JacobDarkOfficial Ohh, I also currently own the Apollo Twin X Duo, and I have to tell you, the SSL just beats it in sound quality... (the SSL is more linear, while the Apollo has a slight low-mid bump somewhere, and to my ears it somehow compresses the audio somewhat... as if there was a mastering comp on it with around 1:1.5 ratio or something... really strange)
@@galgogergo The Apollo Twin seems to have a crazy sound, but often it's people who make rap music, hip hop who say that... And indeed they need to have big bass and heavy and punchy kicks ! So, this is in line with your remark ! it's probably a very good Audio interface, but excellent for these kind of music.

Im wondering what your pick would be for transferring a premixed song from a Deluge into a PC with the best quality results...Im currently using a focusrite scarlett 2i2 and it does a good job just not a great job...Is there a standout affordable interface for transferring a whole song including vocals onto a PC from a mixer?...it always sounds way better on the Deluge so Im losing quality on the transfer.
i had heard that while the ssl2+ has a usb c (3.0, 3.1) connection, the usb actually only operates at usb 2 level, which would give it higher latency. can you verify if both units do the same ? its my understanding that the faster usb3 connection has lower latency than the usb 2 connection ? thanks for clarifying.
How do you like the 4K Saturation distortion on the SSL?
After my uneventful experience with the MOTU M4 I was going to go with the SSL2+, but opted for the ID14mk2 mainly because of its smaller footprint. I also do not require MIDI I/O, but didn't need the extra pair of balanced monitor outputs found on the ID14mk2 either... I'm using a dedicated monitor controller for that.

Yeah it's a good point. Sounds like 4K is on and it's perhaps not a fair comparison as perceived loudness and 'air' are increased
@@richcope387 Exactly. The Audient sounded totally transparent. The SSL sounded processed in some way so I guessed the 4K button was engaged.
Great test bro! Mr personally I’d go with the SSL. Ever since I was a kid I’ve dream of owning a 8000 G Series Console. But sadly I never had 250k laying around. SSL preamps have a color to them you can’t recreate. Now I’m waiting on Neve to bust out an interface for us modest musicians. 💯
Focusrite is a company created by Neve for affordable audio interfaces, so they already exist.
@@StephenWingsTV Not entirely true, Rupert Neve and Focusrite have had nothing to do with each other since 1989, long before they started making interfaces. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focusrite
ssl preamps are pretty clean tho, i like having some neve or api pre for color when im working on an ssl board.

I use DT 990 PRO 250 OHM headphones for mixing and mastering. The technical specifications of the ID14 include information that it supports headphones up to 600 OHM. However, in the SSL 2 specification I did not find anything regarding the support of the headphones I have. If I chose SSL2, would I lose anything with these headphones?
I was actually considering the iD14 MKII as a "sidegrade" to the SSL2+ for use as a backup interface, but also to experience a somewhat different feature set. Can you answer if the 2 headphone outputs on the iD14 MKII can be set to independent volume levels like on the SSL2+? That's my primary concern for leaving two different purpose headphones connected for my monitoring and mixing stages.
No, both outputs have the same volume level.
U can go for a behringer 4 headphone amplifier n fulfil ur expectation..but ull get 3 extra headphone channels..
can anyone answer this problem i have with the Audient ID14 MKII Audio Interface ? I find that the gain on the microphone is about a quarter of what I get on my previous interface. I have to have the mic full volume to just about be heard. I've tried it on 2 different computers with 2 different microphones and is the same. I am using good quality lavalier Tram mic. I spoke to audient about this and they said that the unit was faulty and to send it back. So I did that I've got a new unit and have exactly the same problem, there is nearly no gain/volume on the microphone. Any ideas any solutions any comparisons I would love to know about. If it is true this is a huge and stupid drawback to this unit. The other interface I have which I get plenty of volume on the Mic is a Rubix 22.
The Audient was cleaner, clearer and more transparent....maybe on the clinical side? The SSL was a bit warmer and fatter and more pleasing to the ear. BUT I don't know which one of them would produce vocals that would be easier to work with in a mix OR which one of them would produce vocals that could take eq or effects better. @Jacobdark - Did you use both interfaces for recording and see how they performed in the context of mixing? Big thanks!!
i have an windows PC so i would need an adapter for the usb C what consequences does that come with?
I like the clarity of ID14 . . .
Thanks for another very informative video! I'm not sure if my question makes any sense but here it is -> If I'm only using sample librairies to create music, does the quality of the audio interface make any difference in the final result? In other words, will the rendered WAV file be "better encoded" with a high-end interface or is it that the increased audio quality would only be heard when I play it back in my studio?
The latter, but better accuracy could mean better decision making on your part
@@JacobDarkOfficial Got it, thanks man!

what is your opinion about at4050 vs tlm102 ? and audient id14 mk2 vs ssl 2+ ?! thank you
Excelente video bro
Great video and thanks for the comparisons. For me what I liked about the Audient ID14 Mk2 was that the preamp‘s were virtually noiseless, super quiet. Cranked up to the max and I could barely hear anything. Whereas the SSL had a significant more amount of noise but the vocals just sounded a lot better, clearer, punchier, fuller sound both on dynamic and condenser microphones. It also has a hotter output due to the higher gain of 62 DB. Since the mic preamp‘s are more important to me than it was definitely SSL hands-down the winner. So I was perfectly happy with the SSL 2+ that is until I heard the RME Babyface Pro FS at a friends house this past week and I was completely floored. My jaw dropped at the astonishing clarity and sound that that little audio interface produces. Now it’s hard for me to listen to the SSL.
Yeah the baby face is superior to these because of its astonished preamp and mastering grade converters
Yes, but what is his monitoring system and his mixing system ..? and instruments ? ans sampler ?

Going through lots of youtube videos now I believe him. The analog preamp alone makes it worth it cause people would pay about a 1k for something similar in a 500series.
Up to how many ohms headphones can the SSL2+ drive?
How does the headphone out sound?
Cool review, but my old ancient (Focusrite Scarlett 6i6) interface has 2 sets of audio outputs in the back to connect 2 sets of monitors, and it's in the $300.00 price range. ?? And on that note, the 3rd generation replacement for the Focusrite 6i6, the Focusrite 8i6 has the same features as the 6i6 w/ a little more. Same price range.
Great video! I already have the SSL2 and i’m loving it! I’m wondering what’s your opinions about audient mkii vs motu m2/4?
how about the ssl2 vs the antelope zen go?
I went with the motu m4 for it's extra outputs and loopback feature, and have no regrets. The pre-amps are nice and hot, and the DAC is super clean for something under $1,000. Love it.
I have both and I can say Audient id14 mkii sounds much better than ssl2 (at least talking about DA conversion), that said my clarett+ sounds slightly better than the id mkii, better separation, I guess it has better clock with less jitter
The ID14 is a bit cleaner and more neutral sounding while the SSL a bit fatter and warmer with a distinctive coloration but at the same time a bit less transparent. I guess the ID14 therefore may be better for vlogs and voice overs and the SSL better for vocal tracks in music.
I had to get on here and share this with you bro, I figured out the best situation with these interfaces,
and this is from usage not my opinion
If you stem mix
want a good sound on your music in DAW with your Analog gear
And want good vocals
you would need to save up
And get
Motu Higher End
SSL 2 or 2 +
and the UAD Volt
and Switch back and forth between the three as needed, rather mixing, mastering or vocals..........
Where can I find that beat around 7:50?
Jacob, what's up. What interface are you using these days, Audient, SSL, or something else. I have had so many over the years. Have the SSL 2 now, love the sound. I may go to a MOTU M6 or something for 4 inputs: stereo guitar L/R, and a mic...
I'm currently using the iD24 as it's the only desktop interface with inserts for outboard gear
Can you record goals with plugins on a ssl 2+ without a noticeable latency and hearing the vocal playback in my headphones?
Yes
Jacob, what’s the word on this in 2024? I am still using the SSL 2 for stereo solo guitar coming out of an HX Stomp Rig, and voiceovers, etc. Interesting in that I had over the years, several Apollo Twins, Focusrite, MOTU, etc. UA is total overkill. The SSL 2 sounds big, warm and clean. The Audient stuff looks nice, and I suppose if one had a nice budget, perhaps, the new Neumann interface. What are you using for your mic and camera for these videos. I want to do this for guitar videos (guitar fretboard closeups) using an iPhone 15 Pro…
So...among these 2 and the Antelope GO...is the GO the top choice? If so, your op as to why.
Thought you ditched the SSL for the GO, or was that some other interface you sold off, per your GO review?
Stricly from a quality standpoint, Zen is king but also $500. As funny as it sounds I let go of the Zen because I prefer the aesthetics of the SSL, especially as a background piece in my videos. I don't need top shelf quality as the SSL does everything I need already. I'd go with the iD14 if you need ADAT or would like 2 sets of monitors, other wise, in the $300 range, I prefer SSL
Hmmmm !! I would love to see a comparison between Antelope Zen Go and Audient iD14 MKII, I don't know if I should get the first, or just take the second and save the extra money 🤔???
You are very current...I was just looking into that interface recently.
@@m-chopbeats7526 I saw it the day it was announced !! it is perfect for anybody who wants a serious upgrade. However, as I heard, it is heavenly relying on software and the internet, which is something I'm not comfortable with. The plugins they offer for free are great but their use is very limited (can't be used in the DAW/complicated to integrate/can be used in the recording only/Actually I'm confused about it), and we don't know if their licence is lifetime free, which limits the area of competition and makes the Audient an interesting option if the preamp, dynamic range, audio processing, are as good as in the Antelope because I really feel like the software is the selling point for the Zen Go.
I agree the SSL is better, but the ability to run 4 outputs to my big knob for A/B monitoring is the deciding factor for me. Great review though.
Big knobs are active and majorly colour the sound themselves thus impossible to listen to what you're actually tracking/printing. Get a cheap, passive one and leave the volume up. Anything active needs to be audiofile quality otherwise stick to the cleanest and passive route possible.
I were to buy one of these for recording vocals, would I need a seperate preamp as well?
obviously not
In this case, the SSL sounds better for voice but try to lift up a shure sm7 and you'll hear noise underground, also for guitars. The iD is pristinely clear. I like both of them. Thanks for the good review!!!
Can’t we fix that with a cloud lifter
Oscar, I have a SM7, SSL2 and a Neve clone mic preamp. No need for a cloud lifter with a good preamp. Good luck.
hi.. so which one would u prefer for instrument [Guitar/bass] that have better professional sound? I am musician and I want to produce my professional music itself, and my computer is mac, can u help me.
i have heard a guitar player says that the Di input of the Audient iD14 MK2 is exceptional !!
Ok, I’d go for it. Thanks man!
Nice comparison. One great feature on the Audient iD14 that you perhaps overlooked is the fact that it is expandable to 8 inputs via ADAT. That's a great plus if you wanna record like perhaps a band which feature the SSL don't have. If the SSL had that feature on this model then it would have beat the iD14 without a doubt.
ADAT is mentioned around the 3 minute mark
So yes that becomes very relevant when you're doing stem mixing and stem mastering, I'm asked a different I do all my stem mixing and track processing inside of the DAW....WITH Acustica Audio, analog plugins, I upgraded my computer to be able to run them they're better than uad, then I go out double mono from the ssl2 Plus through my rack and then come back in stereo back into the ssl2 Plus through Studio One on export
So, the way I master my songs the ssl2 plus is perfect and I actually use a Mackie FX mixer which sounds great too if you master stereo in stereo out or double mono in anf stereo out like me,
Acoustica audio, makes mid-level gear sound like high-end expensive outboard analog gear, to be honest with you I've got the sound of a $500,000 Studio and everything together may have costed me about $15,000 but because of the acoustica audio plugins it's giving me pro quality sound
Id14 sound better trust me
@@beatluxx even the dude in the video disagrees with you
I just ran ID44 mark 1 vs SSL2+ and I observed everything you spoke about.
Main difference in SSL2+ it has pretty high boost of highs on monitor outputs, that makes it less natural, but bass is very hollow on Audient ID44, and on SSL2+ bass is very good.
Nothing is perfect.
Latency on ID44 is higher, sound is more balanced though, yet I did get pops and clicks, just like you.
I really like ID44 for it's features, but I doubt I will keep it.
ID44 sounds better overall, but clarity is greater on SSL, due to frequency boost in the monitor output.
Which is best for vocals?
Which one is best for vocals?
Any is good for vocals.. I own both and I haven't noticed much of a difference other than the ssl2 sounds fuller and fatter while the id4 sounds flat and clean . not saying ssl2 isn't clean but it's going to make you sound big and yet flat in its freq response.. Audient is goin to throw what you give to it back to you with no extra bells and whistle.. I got the ssl because I wanted physical buttons to control the interface rather than software which the audient offers. I use mine for recording only ( no interest in mixing )
audient id14 mkii or ssl 2 plus + at4040? For singing, what better?
I love both of these audio interfaces, the SSL2+ wins me over with the plugins tho
SSL2+ is good for a hd600 ?
I was swaying towards the Audient now I'm back to start. Thx
I have both and I can say Audient id14 mkii sounds much better than ssl2, that said my clarett+ sounds slightly better than the id mkii
@@moisesdiaz4353 I went for the id14 mkii as well Moises thx.
Hi. Which preamp is more silent run with high gain? For example to use sm7b with cloudlifter or fedheat, wich of these can give me less noise with a lot of gain this mic needs?
Здравствуйте мне какой выбирать между ssl2 ×id 14 mkii для запис вокала скажите пожалуйста
Saben si sacarán audient ID 44 MkII? O SSL 4 con 9k? :A
el 4k de la ssl no significa audio 4k , si no una emulacion de su consola SSL 4000
@@tsuguharumiyagui4770 claro, TMB creo tienen una consola de 9k.
What audio interface do you reccomend SSL FOCUSRITE AUDIENT, STEINBERG??
for home studio??
Arturia Mini fuse 1 🖤🎧
ya love to see it
I'm so gutted that SSL decided not to include adat.
Same here ...I would have choose the ssl over the Audient if it has ADAT input, but I must go with the Audient ...
2 inputs are not enough to cover a real recording session.
can you shoot against the steinberg neve transformers and ssl
was using the SSL 2+ and had some cracks and bump in the audio sometimes after 15 mins of recording (ALL SSL INTERESTED GOT TO KNOW THIS) upset me a lot same way i love everything around this interface (simplicity ergonomy) but now up to run trough the MK2 ID14 and we will see if she's do this better than the rival ! First impression, better outputs conversions, possibilities, and she's look solid asf.. lets mix down for half an hours trough and see if cracks and bump happen..!
How did it go?

I've never had that happen with my ssl2 never. Maybe yours was faulty
SSL2 vs Id4 mk2. For Podcasting/Gaming alone which was my Use Case on a Windows 10 PC the Audient suffered from mismatched sample rates every time I turned on my PC and casued OBS and Discord to not work unless I changed it from Task manager all the time. I went back and forth with Audient for a week and believe me I troubleshooted everything, even went into the Music store where I purchased the device from and their machine did the same thing but Audient were unwilling to help and were blaming me, so I returned it.
Whilst the both SSL2 and id4 are closely matched and the Audient is probably better because of Loop back and provides more current for high impedance headphones (10ohm vs 30 ohm) using 8:1 ratio thats (80 ohms vs 240 ohm headphone). However the SSL2 has not given any trouble so far and I can forgive it's poor buttons because it's something I will set and forget and it provides enough volume for my HD700, AKG K7xxx and ATH 900x air without being fully maxd out on the Phones dial.
Both the SSL and Audient have their pros and cons but if the drivers for the Audient worked I would have stuck with that unit or probably have gone with the EVO4 which is better for gamers with features, however based on the id4 drivers the EVO4 would have probably been the same.
The 4K definitely works and provides good vocal clarity but I'm guessing that would be microphone dependant or even possibly the user's voice. I use the AKG C214. Also I find with the SSL2, Audacity DAW gives me a -6db peak reading for excited voice but the SSL2's db meter goes into the red even when my voice doesn't clip. Maybe a firmware update will rectify that or they can improve on their db range and provide a clipping button instead of -10db to 0db range from orange to red. However this could be possibly user error also as I have the SSL connected to the DBX286S.
What about loopback function?
You can still get converters from RCA to 1/4” so it’s not a huge deal if you know gear well enough.
Yes but the iD14 has buttons specifically so you can switch between monitors, it was MADE for dual monitors which makes a huge workflow difference, I hate opening up software to switch settings when I could just click a button and be done
No contest here.very apparent in the comparison. The SSL 2+ exhibits some underlined noise around 800 hz to 1.2 khz. This I also compared in my own comparison.and without the SSL 4000 console setting which made things even worse. But hey, it is what it is .Thanks for the review. I've opted to go RME Babyface Pro FS. Though here; I'd take the Audient iD14 without hesitation. Simply better Pre's and wonderfully flat and strong natural output. ; )
Still,I like your take Jacob. I also appreciate your product honesty (i.e. Apogee Duo with PC). Yikes!
Be well!
Thanks! I'm actually using the iD14 Mkii now mostly because of connectivity and partly because of aesthetics, honestly most interfaces will be great!
RME for the win 🔥🔥🔥
I chose the id14 for one big reason: the software mixer. It allows me to control the music vs singing volume for my karaoke recording singers, when using loopback. If they want more voice and less music in their headphones, it's easy to adjust their mix (without affecting the recording of their live karaoke backing track they're singing along to). Can't do that with the SSL.
You can’t record guitars with the audient mkii?
