In this project video I will be showing you how I combined easy to get components in order to create a powerful electric motorized longboard. The main components I will be talking about are BLDC hub motors, the FSESC (aka VESC), a 2.4GHz remote controller and finally a custom made Li-Ion battery pack. This project might not be the cheapest, but the end result will be very awesome and thus worth it! Let's get started!

I have imagined a completely different face for so long.
He showed his face many times before lol just check out his q&a videos
i swear
U late
I always thought he was bald and I was so shocked to see it.
Me too.😂
"Battery is easily swappable"
Proceeds to bringing a gigantic battery
Me :- 😮
I think that is an 806500 ! :D
I would like a link in the video description of that battery featured at the end...please and thank you :)
Waitasec, who stole the cell from my Hitachi Magic W--
Yeah what the heck is that thing!?!
ben dorman seems like a threaded supercap to me, but it might be li-ion/pol cell
Very good build. Thanks
You're welcome :-)
LOL Big Fan
Big fan of you guys both❤️😍🙂💪💪🤜🤛
OMG! what is that at the end of the video! Can't wait to see the video on that!
@@HbCO2 patron
Omg! Seeing two legends at one place.
Two legends in one place! My love ❤️
It seems like a pretty hefty supercapacitor. Really looking forward to that video :)
It's a fuse. 🔌
he makes a Great Scott led display in the beginning of all of his videos, he must have like 100 of those laying around by now lmao
at this point i cant even tell
He said in an old Q&A video that he gives them away to his patrons.
Wait there’s a new one for each video?

First! Really like this new format, the intro is way more convivial and enjoyable. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback :-)
How do you comment from one day ago if he just uploaded it?

no

Just one request i have
No matter how professional you get into video making, Please never change your intro
This is the first time I have seen your face.
I have always imagined you to be older 50+ your voice is calm, measured and soothing. I understand about 50% of what you present in your videos. But I watch almost every one. Because I feel like, what I don't understand is somehow implanted in my subconscious. With of your style of a methodical process coupled with testing and explanations, I feel as if I have learned something. And that I could also do this if I bothered to buy the components and do the builds. this is the stuff that I wish I could do if I wasn't to lazy. And you show me that I could if I wanted to (with study and practice)
So thank you very much,
BOODOO
Thank you so much! I really wanted to make an electric longboard for the longest time! Now that I have a better understanding for the basics, I'll probably be down to give it a shot! Thanks!
Finally! I thought I wouldn't make it without a new video, but you made it just in time.
This is my first time seeing your face, didnt know you were such a handsome nerd
I've always imagined him as a someone in their late 30's or early 40's who's already balding or greying.
he has old videos with Q&A :)
That’s what I’m saying!
Fantastic beard too
This is the best timing! I was thinking about making my own, but i didn't think i had the expertise.
Whhhhaaaatttttt!?!?! All these years I imagined a guy with messy hair and spectacles with some freckles and all buttoned shirt. 😳😳😳😳
You're very handsome!
Thought the same thing!
We have seen him before already!

@@victorhmg8080 "we" doesn't include those of us who haven't.
He was there already in many Q/A series.
I've been looking at DIY Esk8 for months. Your video motivated me to finaly build my own.
Feels strange seeing that old board again. I remember watching that tutorial to build my own aswell. Thanks a lot for that video by the way, my board is working great and is exceeding expectations. Cheers.
loved the new way of yours to talk to the audience. This helps us to connect beetter to you.
Now youre finally back with your videos
Another awesome project from great scott 😊😊😊👍👍👍
Love the new format!
I thought you were old with glasses and unable to smile, you’re definitely Great!
I love how didactic yours videos are!
A lot of schematics n theory about the project itself. Great job!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!!
dang didn't know it's been 3 years I'm watching your videos. this video was my favourite of all time
Awesome! I will see you next time.
as always, great video with nice documentation
Thanks a lot for the update. Inspiring by your previous video I realized my own electric longboard one year ago, very fun to drive!
P.S. Definitely like the new intro format!
Favorite open source project by far. Software, hardware, all great and thoughtful. Benjamin is prolific and the vesc is super useful.. I'm a long time fan.
Short, straightforward and interesting tutorial! Thanks 👏🏻👏🏻
I learn a lot from you. Thank you for loving the art!
Your new format is very nice.
I like the new format!
Fantastic aerial shots! ❤️
Cool shots man!
remember when you tired to solder the motor bracket with a modified microwawe transformer on the old one, now the brushless motors wheel kit look better and won't move
Yep, should last way longer.
im liking this format do more!
The LONG awaited video :)
Great Video, GreatScott! ;)
Glad to see you again, Scott, the Great =P. I've really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing.
I am building an electric skateboard for my university project this year! Thank you for uploading this video it was very informative, as always I enjoy all videos and content! ☺
Where can we check that out :D
Scott you are a champion ..
Awesome as always
You have grown so much!! Wonderful content! I love your work
Love the new style
Amazing job as usual :)

Great video, thank you.
Finally!! Its back :) haha waited the whole time
I really like the editing on this video. Really cool!
Hoping there's more and more youtuber like you, not just unboxing etc :P
Hey Scott, it's the first time seeing you on video. Nice!!!
Hell yea was waiting for this
Great things from great Scott
Its great to put a face to the voice! Awesome vid!
Yet another awesome video! I might have to save up to make one of these. I like how you are reusing stuff from past videos like the esc tester
As expected it was quite simple to understand long electric skate board electronic compare to your previous one. Hopefully I will make this thing by my own. "Let's get "started".
Very nice to see you introduction and the summary.. good idea. As we tell in french: Au Top !!!
A great work again! Ty!
I just completed my own e-longboard a few days ago, and I too used orange filament for the enclosures :)
Excellent project 👍 very good
I like the new style intro - GREAT 👍 SCOTT !!!
you deserve more subscribers!!!!
I'd love to do a 4 wheel drive system with these, very cool
9:40 Would have made more sense to install a heatsink over the MOSFETS, which would improve the cooling.
EDIT: And install a mesh over the fan to keep road dirt/dust from getting inside.
Also, the fan is overkill imo, a mesh on the front and back would be more than enough at 20-30kph.
Wow what a beautiful place
Damn that was a pretty cool project, im gonna try the cheaper motors and work my way up, cheerd
Awsome video great job!
Great scott is really great
Fantastic project
Thanks for sharing :-)
Wonderful project. Thank you. Although it looks a bit more expensive than ready made ones, it is for sure a fun project.
Awesome new intro! And just have to do something with that massive battery!
Thanks for uploading video on my birthday🎂🎉🎁
Great video. Well presented.
love the video....very helpful and inspiring
Alleyways something new!!! The greatScott!!!! ;)
Awesome! great project.
Woow i love this kind of projects😎
At my age I think I'll try this and let my kids test drive it... 🙌
I've no idea what's going on in any of these videos. But I do enjoy them. 😊
Great job!
That's awesome. Inspiring
Very nice, great success!
be carefull with the fans holes water could get inside from there...
urugulu you just leave the ESC heatshrink exposed in a rectangle cutout at the bottom. Or they have watercooled ESCs popular in this size, so you could even mount an external radiator but honestly like 4 Oz of water in a reservoir will probably be enough anyways just to absorb heat since this thing has a super short range (6.5 km/30kph max speed= 13 minutes of runtime). Plus that means his average was 23 amps (so under 12 amps per motor), and that’s like a pitiful amount of power, like any cheap ESC can handle that and those are put in model airplanes with often 0 airflow enclosed in foam board...
He won’t be getting those beast of ESCs very warm at all, even with 0 airflow and pedal to the metal!
The best ever electronics teacher 😊😊
Nice to see your face again, and thanks for the gifting lot's of idea and inspiring. Good wishes always for you.
Superb one!!!
This is how you look!!, I have watched so many of your video and loved all of them...for some reason I thought you would be much older...lol
Beautiful neat system
Thank you for sharing so much information. I love this.
finally it’s done!
Great. You are finally making appearance in videos
Finally! A update on it
Great scott!
I'm sold, i'd really like to build one right NOW!
Once again thank you
Nice Scott
Best video ever! More like that
Noted
Wow, Great project. I may need to build one of these for my commute.
Nice, longboard making video I like the ESC and its configuration tool..pretty much controllable
Hello there you are a great inspiration and I am really happy to see new things .
Your English got better. Still a subscriber but appreciate the effort. !
