I got my RD directly from the company at Faridabad ! Bought it on September 07, 1983 for a grand sum of Rs. 21,800/- ( I have the bill). The first bike o be registered in the State of Maharashtra ! I had it with me till about 4 months back, when I sold it to another huge RD lover (I made sure he was in love with the bike, before even talking to him). The bike had clocked 55000 km, but still had the original paint, chrome, cables, meter and all other lights and bulbs and was in mind boggling mint condition. Standard pistons and CB points ! I sold it ONLY for the fact that nothing was really available in terms of spares (whatever was, was not genuine). I have owned only Yamaha since I started riding and have owned the 50 cc, the 75 cc, the AS125, the DS6 250 and the RD350. I literally cried that day when I let go of her. Being in love with a Yamaha....only another Yamaha lover will understand, cannot be expressed in words. The hurt of parting with my RD is still very deep and very much there. I just bought an FZ25 (the new 250) a week back.......so I am smiling a bit now. But then, there never was, nor is, and never will be another bike like the RD350.

Aah .. another first hand RD buyer ! I bought mine from New Delhi ( British motor car co Connaught Place ) back in June 1987 and still have it. It costed around Rs 24 ,350 back then ( I just had the minimum balance of Rs 10 left over in my bank after I finished getting the DD made for the payment : - ) ) . Will never sell it .. it is priceless ..

We have a 1976 RD400C here in the Philippines. My father's bike.
tvm for the video . i had the RD 250 when i was 19 , wonderful bike , i still have many memories of it 40 years later .
The RD in India is a very rare motorcycle.
At most 8500 bikes were sold.
And most are scrapped.
Maybe 2000 survive.
In a country that buys millions of bikes and scooters each year.
just out of interest . how much would a bike like that cost you in your country in 2022 ?
@@sueharding111 restored bikes would be probably 400,000 Indian Rupees.
That's around $5000 probably.

I love how here in the west people always complain about their bikes not being powerful enough, not having enough torque, always wanting to upgrade, while the general public in places like India is all about the roots of it - the open road, the sense of freedom, the wind, they just RIDE! it can be an old retro bike with what would be considered very few HP's here...and they LOVE it! THAT'S what it's all about!

Most of the yanks(except the old folks) are not really aware about old times. In India, a normal bone stock 1000cc supersport is enough to make you meet your maker, if you get careless with the throttle. That's why RE is so famous here. We love bikes that will take us to places where no other bike would.

I am lucky to ride often RD350 in my college days 1986.its my friend Rangasamy's bike. Chennai Guru Nanak College hostel days. Oh what a power & pickup it's unforgettable still after 33 years.

Registered in June 1986, it's within the first 1000 bikes
I own 7 yamaha rx100 , 2 of them are 1986 first owner japan , and others are indian version all from first owners 💘
I have a 1989 Yamaha rx100 and a 1996 shogun - love the 2 strokes babies !!
Hands down one of the best 350 I have ever witnessed ..I remember that during my schooling days I use to see Rd alot this was the first bike that got me into motorcycling whenever I see Rd I stop look at it's beauty stalk till it gets out of my sight or just initiate conversation with the guy who owns it 😆😆that how crazy I was about Rd during those days and still I am but the prices of used one have skyrocketed in past 5 yrs 😂😂I still fight with my dad about his investment on Rd if he would have brought the gem 😅😅😅back in day.

Watching this video and reading all the comments, i can say how lucky i am to own one. With more and more passionate owners getting their RD's restored and bringing back to life, we'll see good chance of demand for spares. That way even if we get non oem manufacturers who can make quality parts, that will instill some confidence to own and keep the bike running. Big salute to all fellow RD owners.

Finally bought a RD350 yesterday ! after searching it for 6years ! it's a 84 model HT , Would restore it soon though the bike is in very good condition! A good service and proper tuning is required though !

Had one in Chennai while I was in Medical college. Quite modified and MRF racing slicks. What a lovely High it used to give me. Now riding an MT-09 Yamaha.

The RD is hand down the best bike to come to india and there is nothing that comes in even remotely close to the feel of a RD.
Yamaha bring back the 2 strokes and add direct injection and you have something that combines 2 stroke fun and good emissions and I'll be standing on the queue to buy one god willing 👍

M a Jawa and a Yezdi rider... I don't like any Yamaha products I hate the RD but being a rider I am I respect the RD rider... ITS THE RESPECT AND THE BOND WE HAVE BETWEEN RIDERS...

It is indeed a moment of liberation you feel. Also, I can understand the excitement it gives to find the bike of your choice and the experience of restoring it. The older the bike, the more the memories it has. My dad got me a 1997 splendour which has memories of my teenage attached to it. I still have it and it goes the same as it went the first day.
Once again, a very good video, well edited and good music. I am going to download it and share it on whatsapp. who know some freak like us find the bike he always wanted. thank you again for uploading this and reviving the spirit.
