I'm grew up in the 80's also and the A-Team was definitely my favorite show growing up followed by Knight Rider. I had the B.A Bracus action fiqure and the A-Team train set by Tyco as a kid. Thank you for this video. You really made me very nostalgic.
Why so many haters, the van is nice. Like you said, you would never build an A-Team for an investment, it's for the love of the show, so build it to your budget, parts availability and personal style/design. You could paint an 80s Ford Escort with the Black/Grey and red stripe and people would know what you're going for. The van is iconic.
Yep too many bar stool body critics 4 my liking. It looks neat and it's a nostalgia piece is all it really is. I got hired for a one time driver fill in position in a late model race whereas the 70's camaro and Chevelle bodies are still legal in our Late Model and our Sportsman Late Model series you can run both provided you have the safety equipment for the Sportsman class... I did not fit in my buddies car I was too big and the set up too small so I improvised I sprayed my old Sportsman late model with a satin black primer and put a white Dale E. #3 on the door and the red and silver stripe all the way down the body line and went out on the track. My dad told me if I ever returned to the car to it's former self I would get disowned he likes it now. The fans loved the nostalgia I stirered up during that race... I ended up wining after 3 close calls and I caught the part of a big wreck had to cut the hood clean off my car and the fans ran away with it during the white flag a couple guys and girls ran out of the pits with the hood from the car and out into the parking lot. It's funny what nostalgia does to people... The hood had been setting against the pit fence right where ya come in the pit gate my guys never went for it they were too busy watching me kick ass... Some guy from Reading Pa. threw his hood in the back of truck as we were leaving people were still screaming and yelling an hour after that race ended because I fought hard Dale style to win the shit..
For those commenting they don't like Bob saying we couldn't locate this, or couldn't get that, please listen to the video. Bob will do anything and everything if the customer deems it financially viable. All custom makers work to the customers budget and specifications. Personally, I think Bob made all the right decisions. I wouldn't want to pay an extra 2000$ just to put screen accurate mirrors on, that I can't actually see out of. Keep up the great work Bob. Peace out brother 👍🏼.
Hey I am glad you said something about that van that appeared in the last 2 seasons with the 8 lug wheels. That WAS a different van. If you look at the taillights on it, they are different than the van from the first 3 seasons. I thought I was the only one that noticed that.
Nice job on the A-Team van, I understand how difficult it is to get it right, everybody’s a critic and they don’t know the open from the closed end of a wrench, good luck on the next build
As someone that grew up with and later on driving these old Chevy and GMC conversion vans, I can attest that having power locks, a rear heater and cruise control is a must. Very cool van, build and look into the A-Team vans! :)
Gotta say good on ya for watching the episodes! ESP knowing about the ecoline! The scene that face jumps onto the second unit van what your seeing is the grip tape applied for the stuntman it is not a lack of paint👍
I worked for a courier company back in the eighties . We had a fleet of Chevys , Fords and Dodges and we drove them ! Fond memories ,I have of the ChevyVan/GMC VanDura . BEST vans ever built in my opinion .....
Awesome, you probably don't remember me but we met in Burbank, California years ago I own KITT too. I was very impressed with the one you brought that time. Great job. I love the A-Team show was cool. After watching this video It makes to want to have one too but I love my 2015 Dodge caravan with all modern functionalities. I don't mind not being screen accurate but maybe I wouldn't mind to paint it like A-Team van just for fun. Well, that if I can convince my wife to let me do that. 😆 Keep posting more videos they are a lot of fun. In fact I would share on my #FotoRider page so other people can enjoy them too. Be safe and if you come back to the beautiful and expensive state of California let me know. Dinner is on me. 😁 See ya.
Interesting and informative vid . I think blacking out the chrome mirrors (or satin gray ) would finish that off and the side exit exhaust would be way cool and make it even more unique .Thanks for watching all 5 seasons for us . This was from the era when TV was free ! Lol
Awesome videobob. Grew up watching the A-Team. The van was definitely a huge part of the cast. Love knowing about it in detail. Very much appreciate your attention to detail and research on the van.
You did an AWESOME jpb. Back in the day when that show was popular, there were 7 family members that had cool Vans. Some were full-blown custom, some just nicely fixed up. But it was so cool Thanksgiving at Grandma's house. And everyone showed up with their van. By the way, I could hear that van running. That small block Chevy with some sound. LOL awesome.
Besides if you wanted a 100% screen accurate replica one would have to choose a season and episode to do so. It's like KITT replicas. You have the pilot car, season 1 before KARR, after KARR. Season 2 car and seasons 3/4 cars.
For all intents and purposes you recreated great memories for lots of people. Great job! Who cares if everything isnt "Correct!" Anyone that sees it isn't gonna care! I wouldnt! 👍😎🇺🇸
Don't forget that during the heavy dialog, the interior was built on a sound stage so there could be continuity errors between the van and the stage. Great video by the way. Ive always dreamt of owning a van but I can never find a suitable van or money gets short.
That's exactly what I was thinking. As long as the paint scheme is correct it will be easy to identify as the A Team van. Hell, if you want something a bit smaller you could even use a Chevrolet Astro cargo van.
One day, if able to afford one will contact You sir ( few years back spotted some clone in Poznan, #Polska but it was gone before making my mind to actually go there ). Since being a child, I'm still in love with the show. Watched it wherever possible, through years. Bought the entire collection of dedicated dvds with magazine & follow Mr. T on #Twitter ( hell he responds like a lot ! ) Meeting him would be so damn good too btw. Lastly, my uncle rly wanted a big Van for country road-trips - due to his work as BHP dealer but he suddenly passed away. So, having same interest, me want to bear his legacy and get as much joy as we both can from owning the A-Team vehicle. Bringing us together closer not to mention driving such a great car. Nothing less, nothing more. People like You sir are truly a bliss. Dedicated; passionate about their hobby sharing it with others. Cheers
Greetings Robert! It looks like overall you (guys) have done a great job on this A-Team replica van. Immediately I can see that the mirrors do not reflect the originals, however, I have to admit that I actually prefer the (original GM) ones that you're using anyway. In either case I think that the mirrors would have meshed better with the rest of the vehicle if you painted them matte black or some other flat color that matched the theme. Ditto with the door handles, I do believe those were painted too. I am not 100% certain, but I think that you are (possibly) wrong about the 8-lugnut wheels being 16.5". That size was typically only used on the duallies and the diesels. Regular 8-lugnut wheels would have been plain ole 16-inchers, and yes, the 5-lugnut ones are 15"s. Good catch on the Ford econoline stunt van. I'm pretty sure that they tossed in a Dodge or two for good measure ... I'm going to have to go back and watch the series now, you see what you've done?! ;-) Great job, great video, thank you, and keep 'em coming!
If I had the money I would certainly have you build me one of those Vans, love the video. When doing a TV show vehicle money should not be an issue, if you like something have it built.
Sad thing is, I just watched the first season of the A Team, and didn't realize it was two tone with the gun metal top. :P I also thought they were all 3/4ton vans with the 8 stud hubs; I remembered those late-season vans but not the early season I just watched. I'd like to find one, convert it to an A Team van, but set the back up as a camper of sorts with a bed and tiny kitchen.
When applying new weather seal rubber you need to apply heat with a heat gun as you install (I have done over 50 vehicles) with practice and time it will fit perfectly 👍
The only way to truly win dumb internet arguments is to simply not participate. You gotta ask yourself, "Is this person I'm arguing with ever going to be my customer?" If the answer is, "No.", then you've definitely got better stuff to do. Seriously that's a really neat van good luck with your business.
Great video Robert! I can honestly say I never noticed those pinstripes until watching your video and seeing them in the clips you posted either, guess the image came out that much better on a modern LED TV than I expected. I do have experience when it comes to closing those side doors, my parents had '78 and '87 Beauville window vans when I was growing up, both with sliders and we were just used to closing those doors with enough force to have them close properly and rarely had that issue. I honestly didn't know there were issues with closing sliders until reading and watching auto reviewers whining about how "heavy" the sliders and back seats on the minivans were when things needed to be removed........guess when you're living with vans that are atleast 25% larger, it's not as noticeable🙄
I swear the show was all black with the red stripe I even that scene you showed it does look black as it pulled up but then the close up u could see the gray
I've been ogling a mid eighties GMC van for awhile with the intent on building an A-Team van for daily use. For those wondering why daily? My answer? Why not! My wife drives a '68 Beetle painted like a lady bug and my Jeep is zombie apocalypse themed.
I think it's nice! I really don't care about 100 percent accuracy. I built a general lee and it's got the stock blue interior and people still love it. I enjoyed this video.
If you pay us to do it, we will. If you want the budget van, this is what you get. I don't get up in the morning to work for free. To install the fiberglass mirrors uses almost $1000 in materials, but the entire door has to be modified to remove and fill in the original mirror mounts. Some of the things that were missed don't cost much, but they take time, time is money, and frankly some customers don't care about certain little details. A lot of details on movie and tv cars are created out of laziness, like the painted door handles, I am sure that they just sprayed over them. If you paint over chrome it WILL come off, so you would first have to sand blast them, acid etch them, paint them and then clear coat them, while being disassembled. So for a TV show they will say "screw it, just spray it with a can in between scenes!" You can't see the details on TV. I bet if you could see one of the screen used vans up close during filming they looked like dog shit. Go back and watch the show on a 4K TV on DVD and you can see the interior walls are wavy and falling down from where they were just spray glued in place, there is black duct tape on the fender wells where the fiberglass cracked, this thing was slapped together in a hurry by stunt guys. So to recreate it in a way to be a road worthy daily driver vehicle you have to make some decisions, such as the mirrors, they look cool if your intent is a museum display but if you actually want to DRIVE it, you might want to be able to see out of it instead of a 3" mirror! We would have installed the running boards, but the company we ordered them from send us the shorty versions, so the customer ordered the correct ones and is going to install them locally, later, along with the custom exhaust. This video was to point out all the things that were wrong about the van and how the differences, so we KNOW what is "wrong" with it, you just have to pay attention.
@@RobertMoseley then dont show it. Giving a "what had happened was" throughout the tour isnt good optics. The rig is good but if at every other moment you hear that, it sounds like an excuse , the money explanation sounds suspect. I'm not saying the original was perfect. My point is you saying "we didn't have time" to do "x" isnt a good optic. If I remember the build didn't have a time constraint to be up for a riddler. All in all damn good build. I tinker a bit and by no means sayin I'm better, and some folks may not care but hearing those phrases hit me.
I lived in L. A. 80'-84' and saw them hauling an A-Team van on a trailer doing a shoot on Lankershim Blvd. Peppard was the only person of the 4 cast that i got a good look at.
My father used to own a Vandura 3500 and I remember you could lock the slide door open. It wasn't always the most reliable. I also remember that JC Whitney had the wheels used on the A Team in 8 lug in 16" instead of 16.5". Also I remember there was a season that the van had 5 lug up front and 8 lug back. I remember the front wheels being a bit wider and smaller than the rear.
I like the van you build. For most fan's of the show, it is nostalgia and if they decide to build a replica, it is how they remember it. Even if I know it has to be gunmetal gray. It is just not how I remembered it from my childhood. As explained it is just which version you like. I would prefer a more black car even if it isn't how it actually was on most of the show
Mandela affect? What you on about, it was never all black, even as a kid in the 80s I remember painting up a toy version correctly because I was super pissed that it wasn’t the correct colours from the toy shop. So not mandela effect, more like your attention wasn’t very good at the time
Great job on the van! I'd love to make one but it's damn near impossible to find 4 good rims that aren't insanely priced or a van that hasn't been beaten up and completely rusted out. Everyone thinks they can get a van for cheap but you really can't. Paint is super expensive too if you want it done right (correct surface prep, masking, sanding between coats, wet sanding, buffing, etc.). Anyhow, I'd add a sunroof because everyone with a van BITD had at least ONE sunroof. I'd probably do the skate board grip tape on the roof too because I have nutty friends who will jump on the roof when I'm driving. And if you're actually going to drive the van, leaving the stock elephant ears mirrors is the only way to go. I drove ENG microwave vans for 18 years and have a cargo van for home improvement stuff...the bigger mirrors are a must.
Cool video. It would cost a Kings ransom to build the van to exact specs. I am a huge stickler for accuracy, but I totally understand where you are coming from. Now if you were trying to pass off a Ford Maverick for a Duel car then I'd be all over that. We all know it's a Valiant and like your van. May be the wrong year, but it's the right generation and looks phenomenal.
I always remembered the van being all black so good to know. In the 80s my mom use to take a ceramics class and sometimes she would bring me and the fist thing I ever painted was a small van in the A-team colors lol
I thought the van was all black until I saw the Hot Wheels version. I argued up and down online that it was painted incorrectly. I've even seen real life clones that were all black. But someone finally convinced me to watch the show. Sure enough, it's grey up top. It just seems that in a lot of scenes, the camera exposure is off just enough to make it look all black.
What's the point of nitpicking little points of the design? If you see this van from any angle, could there be any mistake what it is? What a lotof fun!
found you some helpful info for those that don't know what the original van's were I'm a huge fan of your work I love the content keep up the great work I'm also from TX
Great version of the van. I'm a huge fan of the A-Team and especially the Van. I plan on building one after I build my Ls powered Durango and my Yukon XL are done
I bought Hubby a 1984 Chevy g30 trans van and he now wants it painted like the A team.. lol He has early onset dementia and I’m trying to make dreams come true before it to late, thanks for your video inspiration. He’s 56 so he’s a big tv fan of that time. We’ll be doing our own paint due to budget is not much with medical stuff but any advice for DYI? And that it’s a Chevy.. lol
A-Team 1983 GMC G-Series (G-15) Van The A-Team television show ran from 1983-87 on the NBC network. The plot revolved around a group of ex-US Special Forces personnel, real independent spirits, who were on the run from the US Army relating to a "misunderstanding" from the Vietnam War. The group operated as mercenaries in the western United States going up against all types of crooks, criminals, gangs, terrorists, dictators and bad guys - helping out those who were down and out. The A-Team comprised of "Hannibal" Smith (George Peppard), Templeton "Faceman" Peck (Dirk Benedict), H.M. Murdock (Dwight Schultz), B.A. Baracus (Mr. T) and B.A.'s black 1983 GMC full-size van. GMC G-Series (G-15) Van Details Year: 1983 Make & Model: GMC G-Series (G-15) Engine: 350 c.i. Nice looking van, you did a great job. Thanks for the interior info nobody ever talks about the inside the of the van, that will come in handy when I do my A-Team inspired van...someday
One of my fav shows as a kid...but I was more of a Fall Guy fan and I own a replica of "The Fall Guy" truck. My truck is based on the pilot episode and stunt trucks used in the series...hence the paint job.
Hell, you could even take a Chev Astro cargo van and build it. It's going to be a lot easier to find one in decent shape. Gotta remember these vans have no frame. Uni body construction. As long as it's painted correctly it will be easily identified as the A Team van. Sure it won't be correct but it would still be cool none the less. That's just my opinion.
I think the reason allot of people think that the van was all black, is because of poor lighting and bad camera angles. For example facing to the front of the van but standing just right of center, one would think that the gun metal gray was black. Just do to the lighting lol. By the way there is an A-Team running around in South Eastern Indiana.
@@princesssolace4337 heck even if you were standing just right in front of it you would think it was, but move to the left or right. It would look the way it is actually supposed to be.
I think the reason folks got the gray and black mixed up on the upper half of the van, was because the toys were only black and red. That would put it in their head that there was only two colors. I thought this as well until looking into it further :)
I love it when a plan comes together
I read that as "I love it when a paint job comes together."
I love it when a van comes together.
I love it when a van comes together.

Absolutely! Some people have "simulated" this van with newer generation vans. It's mostly the wheels and the paint job that do the trick anyway ;-)

There was a time that I wanted to build an A Team van...
Then I watched this video.
Now I have to. ;)
This is one of those incredible videos that you discover at the very end of the internet.

Mr. T./B. A. Baracus would be proud of your A-Team Van! Thanks for posting your excellent video too!
Gotta say good on ya for watching the episodes! ESP knowing about the ecoline!

That was my favorite TV show when I was a kid. I even have the A-Team ringtone on my phone.

A big thumbs up from me here in Northern Ireland UK 👍👍👍
I never saw the van inside, apart from watching eps of A Team. Thanks for sharing.
Love that van, I’m an 80s kid and remember when each of those classic episodes premiered.
I swear the show was all black with the red stripe I even that scene you showed it does look black as it pulled up but then the close up u could see the gray
I thought that way to that the van was all black
You guys did a great job on the van.
I've been ogling a mid eighties GMC van for awhile with the intent on building an A-Team van for daily use.
For those wondering why daily?
My answer? Why not!
My wife drives a '68 Beetle painted like a lady bug and my Jeep is zombie apocalypse themed.
Creeper Van Pete
Mia Wallace Hahaha! Not much creepy about the A-team Van. Given where I live, the Ecto would be a better choice though. Lots of cemeteries here.
Keep the Jeep & get a jeep Gladiator with A-team pin stripe
missingremote not getting rid of the Jeep. Van would make a great tow rig for the rest of the fleet though.
I think it's nice! I really don't care about 100 percent accuracy. I built a general lee and it's got the stock blue interior and people still love it. I enjoyed this video.
Nice van But if you're a custom shop there are too many "didnt get to it" in the build.
Go back and watch the show on a 4K TV on DVD and you can see the interior walls are wavy and falling down from where they were just spray glued in place,
there is black duct tape on the fender wells where the fiberglass cracked, this thing was slapped together in a hurry by stunt guys.
So to recreate it in a way to be a road worthy daily driver vehicle you have to make some decisions, such as the mirrors, they look cool if your intent is a museum display
but if you actually want to DRIVE it, you might want to be able to see out of it instead of a 3" mirror!
We would have installed the running boards, but the company we ordered them from send us the shorty versions, so the customer ordered the correct ones and is going
to install them locally, later, along with the custom exhaust.
This video was to point out all the things that were wrong about the van and how the differences, so we KNOW what is "wrong" with it, you just have to pay attention.
@@RobertMoseley has someone come to you to build a replica of the 2010 movie?
Not many videos with that much detail on the van ! Thanks 👍
I would prefer a more black car even if it isn't how it actually was on most of the show
The grey was gun metal grey but it was the darker grey maybe just the lighting in your video. great job on the van
Love the old school A team van, had a red one that looked similar back in 77, tires , wheels, side pipes were same
I build vans to, well done, I never liked the TV show but you have built a very nice van, great vid. William
The Mandela effect. I remember The all black van with a red stripe
Mandela affect? What you on about, it was never all black, even as a kid in the 80s I remember painting up a toy version correctly because I was super pissed that it wasn’t the correct colours from the toy shop. So not mandela effect, more like your attention wasn’t very good at the time
@@northeast7412 it definitely was a lot darker than what these guys painted it.
Looks darker even in the old footage he shows as an example. I always thought it was all black, tv image quality was not great like today either.
I didn’t like the toy because it was all black. My favorite thing about the van was it had 3 colors.
Just found your channel tonight. Loving it! This video was interesting!!
Yeah it was grey on top but I would have gone a little darker. If the A-Team was still in business they'd have LED light bars today lol
i have a picture of myself in the late 80s or early 90s picking this van up at universal studios lol
Sorry the gun metal grey just doesn't look right to me. I remember darker almost black.
2:55
I always remembered the van being all black so good to know. In the 80s my mom use to take a ceramics class and sometimes she would bring me and the fist thing I ever painted was a small van in the A-team colors lol
The later version looks all black @ 2:58
I love it when a pimp van comes together
Not a pimp van
I was hoping when he turned the radio on that the A Team music would start playing. 😢
I would have done that but CZcams would block my video for copyright....
Robert Videobob Moseley .. Roger that brother. Too bad. It would have been pretty funny. 👍
@@RobertMoseley shame, got it as my ringtone, someone calls and my phone erupts into gunfire as the tune starts lol
HisXLNC I was about to post the very question 👍🏻
I loved the A team ..you did a great job..now i want one
Saw a mid 90s ford van painted just like the A Team van. It was hysterical, only in Oklahoma.
What's the point of nitpicking little points of the design? If you see this van from any angle, could there be any mistake what it is? What a lotof fun!
I love the 80's car shows like A-Team and Knight Rider. This is my first video I watched and now a new subscriber.
Awesome Video !!! Nice Done Bob !! And thank you for that !
Wow, mind blown, I never noticed the 8 vs 5 stud bolt pattern.
Or some Ford vans with hubcaps and some GMC vans...
@@BuzzLOLOL I thought something was fishy when I watched the A-Team as a kid, but we didn't have rewind back then. lol.
Oh yeah that's the van from the past noone forgets. Grew up watching it.
no* one*
Hey Bob, yes you can make a profit, only if you have the inflated prices we do in Australia, 25k for a basic G20 here, that's without any mods! :)
found you some helpful info for those that don't know what the original van's were I'm a huge fan of your work I love the content keep up the great work I'm also from TX
Great version of the van. I'm a huge fan of the A-Team and especially the Van. I plan on building one after I build my Ls powered Durango and my Yukon XL are done
Please don't waste your time arguing with A holes. That van is cool and good for u doing what u love. Rock onn
Thank you for explaining the paint job and pinstripes. Now all these Mandela effect people can stop!
You did a nice job on that van Big fan of the show 2020? 2021? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The spray painted Amber lights was a great solution. They look great. Good on you.
And that it’s a Chevy.. lol
This was a great guide to how to build it right, awesome
Fuk the haters that van looks amazing
Kid Rock will love his new van ...
A-Team 1983 GMC G-Series (G-15) Van
The A-Team television show ran from 1983-87 on the NBC network.

I think that you did a fantastic job to recreate the A-team van.
The "tool" box in the back built into the rear seat is what I wanna figure out.
Good luck keeping a POS Astro on the road for more than a week.
I think the reason allot of people think that the van was all black, is because of poor lighting and bad camera angles. For example facing to the front of the van but standing just right of center, one would think that the gun metal gray was black. Just do to the lighting lol. By the way there is an A-Team running around in South Eastern Indiana.
The are watching in on 14" analog tube tv 24fps tech...and yet they still argue.🤣🤣
Totally too silver. Mix that paint 50.50 or 75.25 with the black it would be a way better match
Haters are gonna hate because that’s all they know how to do! Awesome Van!
