- Here is my Review for the New Wave Toys Zoltar Speaks mini animatronic Fortune Teller Machine from New Wave Toys! I did pay for this unit out of my own pocket and after over a 1 year wait it finally arrived but did it live up to my expectations? Let's discuss!

Mine arrived in great shape minus some dust on the inside and maybe some crooked curtains inside - overall pretty cool product in my opinion and was worth the wait but let me know what you think below!

@@PDubsArcadeLoft I have seen a full size Zoltar machine in a window of an arcade Lake George NY., however I wonder if they have a version where you have to get the quarter in the mouth like in the movie
I got my Zoltar replicade the other day and I love it. The extra cord is a reference to a scene in the movie "Big" where Zoltar was shown to NOT be plugged in to an outlet and therefore actually magic. Im big fan of these replicades I have space ace dragons lair etc..
@@atruceforbruce5388 Characters unlimited began marketing "Zoltar" machines after they licensed the name "Zoltar" from the makers of the movie "BiG" (in 2008 or so) so these actually are officially licensed merchandise from the film

I just received the New Wave Zoltar last night. I placed it on a shelf next to my TV in the living room to surprise my family by putting it on IR (infrared mode). So when they walk by he will talk to them. I just realized I can activate it with my Comcast remote control. I went to turn up the volume on the tv and it kept activating Zoltar’s attract mode.
LOL That is so funny it works with TV remotes
I waited over 3 years for NECA's Bride of Chucky & Tiffany dolls to be released..... Once they were released and turned out so perfect one instantly forgets that long wait.

Wish I'd pre-ordered one, I would have if I knew the MSRP would go up $50 :(
Like always New Wave Toys offers a discount for preorder then normal price after that etc
@@PDubsArcadeLoft the pre-order discount is 20% and they state a normal (MSRP) price, which normally stays the same or is close (it's $100>$150 this time).
The listed MSRP during pre-order was $99.99, and the pre-order discount was 20%, so with tax and shipping, my preorder total was $95.51.
With the additional time and expense they had to put in to get Zoltar working right, they decided to raise the MSRP to &149.99 like they have done with the last several releases that ended up with a higher MSRP at launch than was expected during preorder.
Likewise, don’t be surprised if the Black Hole x Replicade Minipin ends up with a MSRP closer to 249.99 when all is said and done.

Just received mine the other day and yes some debris on the inside of the plexiglass. Mine was also missing the side piece where the fortune tickets go 😫I sent them a picture and put in a ticket to get the panel replacement I hope it doesn’t take a long time to receive it

Great Review Pdubs! Mine came in the mail today. Looks good besides some dust inside on the plastic windows. They did a great job overall for what its worth. $99 seems fair for the work that has went into it. I don't think many will go for the $149+ shipping when the Pre-Orders finish IMO. I been waiting for this like the rest for some time and just happy it finally came. Running out of room with my set up for all these NWT Replicades. 😖

Love the external coin drawer. You mentioned easier access so you can refresh the inside and I'm hoping one day they'll implement a battery door on the bottom so the games don't have to be disassembled for battery work.
With Zoltar in hand, my Pulp Fiction LE pinball deposit is now the longest standing pre-order deposit in my life with Black Hole, Golden Tee, Elevator Action, Qix and Zookeeper.

I took the tickets out of mine. I like that you can rewind the spool, but the way the spool rewinds and is replaced feels like an afterthought. I advise to use guitar pick or something to rewind it to avoid marring the plastic with a screwdriver.
Ticket dispenser is a fail in my opinion. The delay was supposedly due to tickets not dispensing evenly, guess what? A year and a half and it still doesn’t dispense correctly. And having a roll and one and done is not practical or entertaining if you don’t tear them…you can’t even read the fortune. NWT is really shitting the bed in 2024…and I own everything they’ve made.

This is absolutely amazing! I actually really like the slow mouth movement gives it more a vintage vibe to it and the eyes moving as well.
I really hope I can get this at some point although I live in the UK I highly doubt this won't get sold where I am.

My Zoltar had his necklace fall off. And tons of fuzz from the fabric stuck to the window. Will need to open and correct. My only complaint with shipping.

Considering I just paid for a couple Zoltar fortunes at the arcade at Cedar Point in June, seems pretty damn spot on. The one at Cedar Point though, his Turban has fallen off and its hanging there with tape lol

I was hoping he'd be like the Coke machine and not have a battery. I'm sure I'm in the minority though. I'd like to have him on a shelf and turn it off and on with a smart plug along with everything else on the shelf. Needing to turn him off and on will be tough depending on where I place it.

It was worth the wait for sure! Mine is also full of fabric fibers. I don’t notice it until the lights are on. Zoltan’s earring isn’t hanging down. It’s flipped up over his ear. I’m sure these were kick all over the place during shipping. (Picturing Ace Ventura) I’ll be taking it apart today. Lol
Yeah I think stuff shifted during transport like my curtains are crooked, etc
So it doesn’t do the breathing like he does in the movie ? To me that would be a big part of it but not a deal breaker

I ordered mine yesterday on Sideshow. Shipping was not too bad at $19...usually my shipping with NWT is over $30 to $40

You know what wise men say? Sometimes you take a poop and sometimes you pre-order a Zoltar machine. I'm glad I did both 😁
Stinks to hear you didn't get the coupon code for the pre-order. I got my Zoltar for $80, which some in the community still said was too high of a price for this. But having it in my hand now, I think I got a HUGE bargain! I think people are going to be kicking themselves with the new price hike New Wave Toys will now be selling these when orders go live. I think the price is now going to be double or almost that. I think New Wave Toys thinks they might have priced these too low from the start. I'm not complaining and I hope they don't just keep raising prices arbitrarily. I don't think they will now that they're working with Glen. I hope they stay consumer forward.
New Wave Toys Zoltar is quality, but like you, I'm disappointed at all the dust that is on the inside windows. Hopefully New Wave Toys can figure out what happened, so if they attempt something like this again, like a claw machine, or coin pusher, or whatnot, it won't happen again.

I didn't pre-order, (I wasn't aware at the time or I would have). I can't freakin' wait for Tuesday to get here, this is a year and half in waiting. I know it's gonna cost me $150. I live in NM, just curious what the shipping might be, even though I'm still getting it. I also wonder what they charge for an extra roll of cards..?

Have you removed the back yet? Mine has 2 strings hanging in the back by the light that annoys me. If you remove the back does anything fall apart or something you need to be careful of? Nice review and I love this. I actually told them 2 years ago to make this then 4 months later it was announced. I never got acknowledged lol
not yet but Cooltoy removed his in his video and showed it, I would be very careful doing this.
Mine came Friday, and I was generally pleased, although I noticed the internal cabinrt dust as you mentioned and one curtain alignment issue. The 2 biggest issues are a plexi glass scratch on mine on the right side and the boxes were pierced in transit damaging even the internal main box.
I will be contacting NewWave for at least a box replacement. Do you think I should?

I’m getting one / i like the arcade when i first saw it / this one is pretty cool / but i hope in the later future we can get a 1 to 1 of the old arcade version in this same scale with the light up red eyes / if they can’t the prototype version would be still great just add the light up red eyes New Wave / if you decide to make another / I’m sure people will buy that version to /and the one from the Big movie / Thanks

I received mine and the head is not as nice as pdubs. I think they hand picked that one for pdubs. Mine has glue residue on the head. The eyebrows are misplaced and there no forehead whatsoever. Be prepared to be disappointed since there does not appear to be any quality control in terms of Zoltan appearance. I almost want to return it. Might have to open it up to fix it and risk damaging it.
I'm sorry to hear yours had an issue with the head, I would be that upset too after a year wait. I can guarantee you nothing was hand picked for me. I've received lots of broken stuff over the years and point that out in prior reviews, etc.
Definitely cool but not Zoltar Big accurate. I'm on the fence.
