My hamster always jumped out of bed every time she heard my voice in a morning for morning cuddles and treats then woke up at about the time I came home from college to greet me and have cuddles then go straight back to bed. She was great I miss her a lot.

I would just like to ad: sometimes fluffing their bedding, and scratching around their sleeing space might wake the hamster up, but if the hammy doesn't feel like it he might not come out to inspect. Just a heads-up! Sometimes it's good to leave them be in this case (if possible), other times you might find yourself in the position of having to lift their house (in case of emergency!), but if you tamed and bonded well, your hammy won't be too upset and forgive your intrusion quickly... 💖

I know my hamster is nocturnal but i get up in the middle of the night to get chips. (dont judge me im always hungry) and i check on my hamster and he's still asleep. I know he's not dead because he gets up around 5 or 6 times a day. 1 time going on his wheel for around 15 seconds and then playing a tiny bit and then going back to sleep. OMG ITS ME AT 0:16 YAY!

I have 2 female winter white dwarf hamsters. They each have their own cages and are very spoiled. But anyway they both are very different when it comes to sleeping habits, and personalities. Chloie sleeps ALL day, but she is super friendly. You may get a glimpse of her if your up very early in the morning. Otherwise you will not see her till night. She only wakes between 7-8pm. And my other girl Pearl, who only tolerates you if you have snacks, wakes several times through out the day. Usually around 12 and 3 pm she will come out and putter about and as you said gets a bit to eat and a drink, Then it is back to bed for her. :)

What I do (Just got my hamster yestreday) is that when my hamster doesn't drink (cause my hamster never does) I give Misty a tangerine because it has a lot of juice and liquid inside and is a nice tasty treat :)
You must not give citrus fruits like tangerines to hamsters, it's very bad for them! You only just got your hamster, you need to have more patience with it, just because you have yet to see it drinking it doesn't mean it isn't. Hamsters need a few days to settle into their new home and get comfortable with no human contact or interaction, it's the most stressful time of their life.

The Potato Farm Female Syrian hamsters give off pheromones to attract male hamsters and tell them when they're ready to mate. Your hamster also may be urinating in the cage if you constantly get rid of her smell in order to feel secure and mark her territory. If you clean less often she will feel less stressed and the problem will sort itself.
Mine is definitely crepuscular, but I often hear him moving around while he is asleep. Mine likes to sleep in a cardboard box so its easy to hear his movement. I've never woken him, but I've checked on him numerous times thinking he is awake, but he is actually sleeping. It reminds me of how some people sleepwalk, mine seems to sleep eat and sleep clean himself. The times I have checked on him he is super groggy and his eyes have been totally closed.

Also she never gets on her wheel anymore and I'm not sure why. She's not super active unless I take her out of the cage but even then I think I she is only looking for a spot to sleep and she's not active at all. I don't mind having a lazy hamster since I'm lazy too at times but she's getting a little fat.
My male dwarf hamster is a year old but now she sleeps a lot, barely runs on the wheel, and sometimes wants to be let out. I cleaned his cages today attached with tubes.(2 cages for more spaces).

Hiya, my hamster is awake until noon and wakes around six, is this okay for him? I really worry as he walks slowly and spends limited time moving. He has a big cage, so ive spread everything out to try and keep him active. He is a year and a bit old and don't know if it's his sleep or something else. If anyone knows please let me know!
It's most likely age, as you've probably heard hundreds of times, as hamsters get older they are not as active as when they were younger. Just keep an eye on their food and see if he's eating as he normally does and 100% see if he's drinking, watch the bowl or bottle and Erin has vid about it on how to check if hydrated. All hamsters are different on waking and falling asleep, mine she wakes up around 17:30(5:30pm) and runs on her wheel then goes back and has a nap around 23:00(11pm) then wakes up again play till 3:00am (Ive on,y stay up late late once so she may later or earlier) but if he likes out his cage and what I do is block of areas where she can't go and let her roam and but toys so she can play or get a play pin for them (I don't like them cause they have bars) but I have a plastic one but it's like a cage and ruins the point or I put her on my chest and let her roam around my bed. It's actually quit run see what they do! Maybe this helped? But ya I'm no excerpt (Sorry for my English and grammar)

I remember my dog called Bailey once caught my hamster and I thought he was dead, but then he started to move so we took him to the vets, and he was perfectly fine. I blame my friend for leaving the hamster in the sitting room. Another time, my hamster was inside his cage and was climbing the bars, and I found the cat called Milly in my room, giving the hamster called Russ a high five. I was very lucky both of those times, i feel very sorry for you. I know how yo feel, having lost a cat, a dog, and seven chickens. :(
I've just moved my hamster into my room since I have FINALLY gotten space for him, so I haven't really seen his sleeping times and all that. I have noticed how ever that he'll sleep the entire day, wake up around 1 AM run on his wheel, sleep again, then get up again around 3 AM, Run around, burrow, eat, run again, then he sleeps till dawn and gets up again around 6 AM till 8 AM. My Hamster wakes at 21:00-21:30 and is awake until like midnight. Then she wakes up again at 2 or 3 until 5 or 6. She sleeps during the day but i saw her awake a few times for like 5min. But that's it. She is pretty chilled
My hamster is a really big scardy cat so the slightest noise will make her go crazy running about her cage trying to find out what made the noise and the best place to hide from it so she is awake in the day quite a bit because if I go in my room she wakes up at the sound of the door. But at least she can hang out with my mum at 4 am when she gets up for work!
Like most mammals hamsters will shed their fur all year long and especially when the seasons change to help with temperature control. The fur sometimes comes back thicker or thinner than before and sometimes slightly lighter or slightly darker :)
I wake up my hamster a few times a day and he has no problems with it. We cuddle and play together and he loves it. He wakes up at 3 am and plays in his cage and goes back to sleep at 9 am. He wakes up several times a day and he is now used to it so he has no problems with it. (He's tame) ❤❤

Sorry for your loss :( One time my mom was babysitting while I was at school, and the kid she was babysitting took my hamster out of her tank and my kitty got her.
I remember my dog called Bailey once caught my hamster and I thought he was dead, but then he started to move so we took him to the vets, and he was perfectly fine. I blame my friend for leaving the hamster in the sitting room. Another time, my hamster was inside his cage and was climbing the bars, and I found the cat called Milly in my room, giving the hamster called Russ a high five. I was very lucky both of those times, i feel very sorry for you. I know how yo feel, having lost a cat, a dog, and seven chickens. :(
oh no!! make sure to put on a very secure top on your hamster’s cage next time you get one, especially if you have a kitty in the house!

I've just moved my hamster into my room since I have FINALLY gotten space for him, so I haven't really seen his sleeping times and all that. I have noticed how ever that he'll sleep the entire day, wake up around 1 AM run on his wheel, sleep again, then get up again around 3 AM, Run around, burrow, eat, run again, then he sleeps till dawn and gets up again around 6 AM till 8 AM. He has a weird sleeping pattern like I do lmaoo

My Hamster wakes at 21:00-21:30 and is awake until like midnight.
Then she wakes up again at 2 or 3 until 5 or 6.
She sleeps during the day but i saw her awake a few times for like 5min.
But that's it.
She is pretty chilled
My hamster is a really big scardy cat so the slightest noise will make her go crazy running about her cage trying to find out what made the noise and the best place to hide from it so she is awake in the day quite a bit because if I go in my room she wakes up at the sound of the door.
But at least she can hang out with my mum at 4 am when she gets up for work!

Why does my hamster go lighter in summer??
Like most mammals hamsters will shed their fur all year long and especially when the seasons change to help with temperature control. The fur sometimes comes back thicker or thinner than before and sometimes slightly lighter or slightly darker :)

I wake up my hamster a few times a day and he has no problems with it. We cuddle and play together and he loves it. He wakes up at 3 am and plays in his cage and goes back to sleep at 9 am. He wakes up several times a day and he is now used to it so he has no problems with it. (He's tame) ❤❤

My hamsters are so loud at night I swear there all on there wheels and then deside to put seads on there wheel or make it fall so when they run its just " BANG BANG BANG" so I have to get up super fast no matter how comfy I am to go fix it before she wakes my parents up

I have a dwarf hámster and he sleeps in the day time but also wakes up to eat ,drink water , and play he is mostly active in the night though

My hamster sleeps for 4 hours and then wakes up for about 10-20 min, even in the night. I’ve timed it. I’ve had many hamsters before and none have acted like this. Is this normal
